Abdul Daryabadi : This Book whereof there is no doubt, is a guidance unto the God-fearing.
Dr. Mohsin : This is the Book (the Qur’ân), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqûn [the pious and righteous persons who fear Allâh much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allâh much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)].
Mufti Taqi Usmani : This Book has no doubt in it – a guidance for the God-fearing,
Pickthal : This is the Scripture whereof there is no doubt, a guidance unto those who ward off (evil).
Yusuf Ali : This is the Book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah.

Verse:003
Abdul Daryabadi : Who believe in the Unseen, and establish prayer, and out of that wherewith We have provided them expend.
Dr. Mohsin : Who believe in the Ghaib[] and perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât), and spend out of what we have provided for them [i.e. give Zakât, spend on themselves, their parents, their children, their wives, etc., and also give charity to the poor and also in Allâh’s Cause – Jihâd,].
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Who believe in the Unseen, [QETafseerComment] and are steadfast in Salah (prayer), [QETafseerComment] and spend [QETafseerComment] out of what We have provided them;
Pickthal : Who believe in the Unseen, and establish worship, and spend of that We have bestowed upon them;
Yusuf Ali : Who believe in the Unseen, are steadfast in prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them.

Verse:004
Abdul Daryabadi : And who believe in that which hath been sent down unto thee and that which hath been sent down before thee and of the Hereafter they are convinced.
Dr. Mohsin : And who believe in (the Qurân and the Sunnah)[] which has been sent down (revealed) to you (Muhammad Peace be upon him ) and in that which we sent down before [the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel), etc.] and they believe with certainty in the Hereafter. (Resurrection, recompense of their good and bad deeds, Paradise and Hell,)
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And who believe in what has been revealed to you and what has been revealed before you; [QETafseerComment] and they have faith in the Hereafter.
Pickthal : And who believe in that which is revealed unto thee (Muhammad) and that which was revealed before thee, and are certain of the Hereafter.
Yusuf Ali : And who believe in the Revelation sent to thee, and sent before thy time, and (in their hearts) have the assurance of the Hereafter.

Verse:005
Abdul Daryabadi : These are on guidance from their Lord, and these they are the blissful ones.
Dr. Mohsin : They are on (true) guidance from their Lord, and they are the successful.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : It is these who are guided by their Lord; and it is just these who are successful.
Pickthal : These depend on guidance from their Lord. These are the successful.
Yusuf Ali : They are on (true guidance), from their Lord and it is these who will prosper.

Verse:006
Abdul Daryabadi : Verily those who have disbelieved, it is equal to them whether thou warnest them or warnest them not; they will not believe.
Dr. Mohsin : Verily, those who disbelieve, it is the same to them whether you (O Muhammad Peace be upon him ) warn them or do not warn them, they will not believe.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Surely for those who have disbelieved, [QETafseerComment] it is all the same whether you warn them or you warn them not: they do not believe.
Pickthal : As for the Disbelievers, Whether thou warn them or thou warn them not it is all one for them; they believe not.
Yusuf Ali : As to those who reject Faith, it is the same to them whether thou warn them or do not warn them; they will not believe.

Verse:007
Abdul Daryabadi : Allah hath set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing, and over their sights is a covering; and unto them shall be a torment mighty.
Dr. Mohsin : Allâh has set a seal on their hearts and on their hearings, (i.e. they are closed from accepting Allâh’s Guidance), and on their eyes there is a covering. Theirs will be a great torment.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Allah has set a seal on their hearts and on their hearing; and on their eyes there is a covering, and for them awaits a mighty punishment. [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : Allah hath sealed their hearing and their hearts, and on their eyes there is a covering. Theirs will be an awful doom.
Yusuf Ali : Allah hath set a seal on their hearts and on their hearing And on their eyes is a veil; great is the penalty they (incur).

Verse:008
Abdul Daryabadi : And of mankind are some who say: we believe in Allah and in the Last Day: whereas they are not believers.
Dr. Mohsin : And of mankind, there are some (hypocrites) who say: “We believe in Allâh and the Last Day” while in fact they believe not.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And among men there are some who say, “We believe in Allah and in the Last Day”, yet they are not believers. [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : And of mankind are some who say: We believe in Allah and the Last Day, when they believe not.
Yusuf Ali : Of the people there are some who say: “We believe in Allah and the Last Day” but they do not (really) believe.

Verse:009
Abdul Daryabadi : They would deceive Allah and those who believe, whereas they deceive not save themselves, and they perceive not.
Dr. Mohsin : They (think to) deceive Allâh and those who believe, while they only deceive themselves, and perceive (it) not!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : They try to deceive Allah and those who believe, while they are not deceiving anyone except themselves, although they are unaware of it.
Pickthal : They think to beguile Allah and those who believe, and they beguile none save themselves; but they perceive not.
Yusuf Ali : Fain would they deceive Allah and those who believe, but they only deceive themselves, and realize (it) not!

Verse:010
Abdul Daryabadi : In their hearts is a disease, so Allah hath increased unto them that disease; and unto them shall be a torment afflictive, for they have been lying.
Dr. Mohsin : In their hearts is a disease (of doubt and hypocrisy) and Allâh has increased their disease. A painful torment is theirs because they used to tell lies.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : In their hearts there is a malady, so Allah has made them grow in their malady; and for them there is a grievous punishment, because they have been lying.
Pickthal : In their hearts is a disease, and Allah increaseth their disease. A painful doom is theirs because they lie.
Yusuf Ali : In their hearts is a disease; and Allah has increased their disease and grievous is the penalty they (incur), because they are false (to themselves).

Verse:011
Abdul Daryabadi : And when it said unto them: act not corruptly on the earth, they say: we are but reconcilers.
Dr. Mohsin : And when it is said to them: “Make not mischief on the earth,” they say: “We are only peacemakers.”
Mufti Taqi Usmani : When it is said to them, “Do not spread disorder on the earth”, they say, “We are but reformers.”
Pickthal : And when it is said unto them: Make not mischief in the earth, they say: We are peacemakers only.
Yusuf Ali : When it is said to them: “Make not mischief on the earth”, they say: “Why, we only want to make peace!”

Verse:012
Abdul Daryabadi : Lo! verily it is they who are the corrupters, and yet they perceive not.
Dr. Mohsin : Verily! They are the ones who make mischief, but they perceive not.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Beware, it is, in fact, they who spread disorder, but they do not appreciate.
Pickthal : Are not they indeed the mischief-makers ? But they perceive not.
Yusuf Ali : Of a surety, they are the ones who make mischief, but they realize (it) not.

Verse:013
Abdul Daryabadi : And when it said unto them: believe even as mankind have believed, they say: shall we believe even as the fools have believed? Lo! verily it is they who are the fools; and yet they know not.
Dr. Mohsin : And when it is said to them (hypocrites): “Believe as the people (followers of Muhammad Peace be upon him , Al-Ansâr and Al-Muhajirûn) have believed,” they say: “Shall we believe as the fools have believed?” Verily, they are the fools, but they know not
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And when it is said to them, “Believe as people have believed,” they say, “Shall we believe as the fools have believed?” Beware, it is, in fact, they who are the fools, but they do not know.
Pickthal : And when it is said unto them: believe as the people believe, they say: Shall we believe as the foolish believe? Beware! They indeed are the foolish? But they know not.
Yusuf Ali : When it is said to them: “Believe as the others believe” they say: “Shall we believe as the fools believe?” Nay, of a surety they are the fools, buy they do not know.

Verse:014
Abdul Daryabadi : And when they meet those who have believed, they say: We believe. And when they are alone with their Satans, they say: verily we are with you, we were but mocking.
Dr. Mohsin : And when they meet those who believe, they say: “We believe,” but when they are alone with their Shayâtin (devils – polytheists, hypocrites), they say: “Truly, we are with you; verily, we were but mocking.”
Mufti Taqi Usmani : When they meet those who believe, they say, “We have entered Faith;” but when they are alone with their satans, they say, “Indeed, we are with you; we were only mocking.”
Pickthal : And when they fall in with those who believe, they say: We believe; but when they go apart to their devils they declare: Lo! we are with you; verily we did but mock.
Yusuf Ali : When they meet those who believe, they say: “We believe” but when they are alone with their evil ones they say: “We are really with you we; (were) only jesting.

Verse:015
Abdul Daryabadi : Allah mocketh back at them, and letteth them in their exorbitance wander bewildered.
Dr. Mohsin : Allâh mocks at them and gives them increase in their wrong-doings to wander blindly.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : It is Allah who mocks at them, and lets them go on wandering blindly in their rebellion.
Pickthal : Allah (Himself) doth mock them, leaving them to wander blindly on in their contumacy.
Yusuf Ali : Allah will throw back their mockery on them and give them rope in their trespasses; so they will wander like blind ones (to and fro).

Verse:016
Abdul Daryabadi : These are they who purchased error for guidance, but their traffic profited not, nor have they ever become guided.
Dr. Mohsin : These are they who have purchased error for guidance, so their commerce was profitless. And they were not guided.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : These are the people who have bought error at the price of guidance; so their trade has brought no gain, nor have they reached the right Path.
Pickthal : These are they who purchase error at the price of guidance, so their commerce doth not prosper, neither are they guided.
Yusuf Ali : These are they who have bartered guidance for error: but their traffic is profitless, and they have lost true direction.

Verse:017
Abdul Daryabadi : Their likeness is as the likeness of him who kindleth a fire, then when it hath lit up that which is around him, Allah taketh away their light and leaveth them in darknesses where they see not
Dr. Mohsin : Their likeness is as the likeness of one who kindled a fire; then, when it lighted all around him, Allâh took away their light and left them in darkness. (So) they could not see.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Their situation is like that of a man who kindles a fire, and when it illuminates everything around him, Allah takes away their lights and leaves them in layers of darkness, so that they see nothing.
Pickthal : Their likeness is as the likeness of one who kindleth fire, and when it sheddeth its light around him Allah taketh away their light and leaveth them in darkness, where they cannot see,
Yusuf Ali : Their similitude is that of a man who kindled a fire; when it lighted all around him, Allah took away their light and left them in utter darkness so they could not see.

Verse:018
Abdul Daryabadi : Deaf, dumb, blind; wherefore they will not return.
Dr. Mohsin : They are deaf, dumb, and blind, so they return not (to the Right Path).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Deaf, dumb and blind, they shall not return. [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : Deaf, dumb and blind; and they return not.
Yusuf Ali : Deaf, dumb, and blind, they will not return (to the path).

Verse:019
Abdul Daryabadi : like unto a rain–laden cloud from heaven, wherein are darknesses and thunder and lightening. They so put their fingers in their ears because of the thunder-claps, guarding against death, and Allah is Encompasser of the infidels.
Dr. Mohsin : Or like a rainstorm from the sky, wherein is darkness, thunder, and lightning. They thrust their fingers in their ears to keep out the stunning thunderclap for fear of death. But Allâh ever encompasses the disbelievers (i.e. Allâh will gather them all together).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Or (it is) like a rainstorm from the sky, bringing darkness, thunder and lightning; they thrust their fingers in their ears against the thunderclaps for fear of death, ___and Allah encompasses the disbelievers__
Pickthal : Or like a rainstorm from the sky, wherein is darkness, thunder and the flash of lightning. They thrust their fingers in their ears by reason of the thunder-claps, for fear of death, Allah encompasseth the disbelievers. (in His guidence)
Yusuf Ali : Or (another similitude) is that of a rain-laden cloud from the sky; in it are zones of darkness, and thunder and lightning they press their fingers in their ears to keep out the stunning thunder-clap, the while they are in terror of death. But Allah is ever round the rejecters of Faith!

Verse:020
Abdul Daryabadi : The lightning well-nigh snatcheth away their sight; whensoever it flasheth on them, they walk therein, and when it becometh dark unto them, they stand still. And had Allah willed He would of a surety have taken away their hearing and their sights; verily Allah is over everything potent.
Dr. Mohsin : The lightning almost snatches away their sight, whenever it flashes for them, they walk therein, and when darkness covers them, they stand still. And if Allâh willed, He could have taken away their hearing and their sight. Certainly, Allâh has power over all things.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And lightning (all but) snatches away their eyesight; every time a flash gives them light, they walk by it; and when darkness falls upon them, they stand still. And if Allah willed, He would certainly take away their hearing and their eyes: surely Allah is powerful to do anything.
Pickthal : The lightning almost snatcheth away their sight from them. As often as it flasheth forth for them they walk therein, and when it darkeneth against them they stand still. If Allah willed, He could destroy their hearing and their sight. Lo! Allah is able to do all things.
Yusuf Ali : The lightning all but snatches away their sight; every time the light (helps) them, they walk therein and when the darkness grows on them, they stand still. And if Allah willed, He could take away their faculty of hearing and seeing; for Allah hath power over all things.

Verse:021
Abdul Daryabadi : O Mankind worship your Lord who hath created you and those before you, haply ye may become God-fearing-
Dr. Mohsin : O mankind! Worship your Lord (Allâh), Who created you and those who were before you so that you may become Al-Muttaqûn (the pious – see V.2:2).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : O people, worship your Lord who created you and those before you, so that you may become God-fearing
Pickthal : O mankind! worship your Lord, Who hath created you and those before you, so that ye may ward off (evil).
Yusuf Ali : O ye people! adore your Guardian-Lord, who created you and those who came before you, that ye may have the chance to learn righteousness.

Verse:022
Abdul Daryabadi : Who hath made the earth for you a carpet and the heaven a structure, and sent down from heaven water, and brought forth therewith fruits as a Provision for you; wherefore set not up compeers unto Allah while ye know.
Dr. Mohsin : Who has made the earth a resting place for you, and the sky as a canopy, and sent down water (rain) from the sky and brought forth therewith fruits as a provision for you. Then do not set up rivals unto Allâh (in worship) while you know (that He Alone has the right to be worshipped).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : He is the One who made the earth a bed for you, and the sky a roof, and sent down water from the sky, then brought forth with it fruits, as a provision for you. So, do not set up parallels to Allah when you know. [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : Who hath appointed the earth a resting-place for you, and the sky a canopy; and causeth water to pour down from the sky, thereby producing fruits as food for you. And do not set up rivals to Allah when ye know (better).
Yusuf Ali : Who has made the earth your couch, and the heavens your canopy; and sent down rain from the heavens; and brought forth therewith fruits for your sustenance; then set not up rivals unto Allah when ye know (the truth).

Verse:023
Abdul Daryabadi : And if ye be in doubt concerning that which We have revealed unto Our bondsman, then bring a chapter like thereunto, and call your witnesses as against Allah, if ye say sooth.
Dr. Mohsin : And if you (Arab pagans, Jews, and Christians) are in doubt concerning that which We have sent down (i.e. the Qur’ân) to Our slave (Muhammad Peace be upon him ), then produce a Sûrah (chapter) of the like thereof and call your witnesses (supporters and helpers) besides Allâh, if you are truthful.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : If you are in doubt about what We have revealed to Our servant, [QETafseerComment] then bring a Surah similar to this, and do call your supporters other than Allah, if you are true.
Pickthal : And if ye are in doubt concerning that which We reveal unto Our slave (Muhammad), then produce a surah of the like thereof, and call your witness beside Allah if ye are truthful.
Yusuf Ali : And if ye are in doubt as to what We have revealed from time to time to Our servant, then produce a Surah like thereunto; and call your witnesses or helpers (if there are any) besides Allah, if your (doubts) are true.

Verse:024
Abdul Daryabadi : But if ye do it not, –and by no means ye shall, –then dread the Fire, the fuel whereof is men and stones, gotten ready for the infidels.
Dr. Mohsin : But if you do it not, and you can never do it, then fear the Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : But if you do not – and you will never be able to – then guard yourselves against the Fire, the fuel of which will be men and stones. It has been prepared for disbelievers.
Pickthal : And if ye do it not – and ye can never do it – then guard yourselves against the Fire prepared for disbelievers, whose fuel is of men and stones.
Yusuf Ali : But if ye cannot and of a surety ye cannot then fear the Fire whose fuel is Men and Stones, which is prepared for those who reject Faith.

Verse:025
Abdul Daryabadi : And bear thou the glad tidings unto those who believe and do righteous works that verily for them shall be Gardens whereunder rivers flow. So oft as they shall be provided with a fruit therefrom they will say: this is that wherewith we were provided afore; and they shall be vouchsafed that which is consimilar; and for them shall be therein spouses purified, and therein they shall be abiders.
Dr. Mohsin : And give glad tidings to those who believe and do righteous good deeds, that for them will be Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise). Every time they will be provided with a fruit therefrom, they will say: “This is what we were provided with before,” and they will be given things in resemblance (i.e. in the same form but different in taste) and they shall have therein Azwâjun Mutahharatun [] (purified mates or wives), and they will abide therein forever.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And give good news to those who believe and do righteous deeds that for them there are gardens beneath which rivers flow.
