    Unfortunately the hate cleric is being promoted by two well connected “liberals” (also alleged to be fake liberals) namely Raza Rumi . According to Raza Rumi, director of Jinnah Institute:

    It is time to engage with clerics like Tahir Ashrafi and get them to join the struggle for a moderate and progressive Pakistan Maulana Tahir Ashrafi, Chairman of Pakistan Ulema Council (an apex body of country wide religious scholars) led a vigorous campaign on this issue and in my several meetings and conversations with him I was impressed by the remarkable clarity with which he stood by this non-Muslim child…Ashrafi is a brave exception but he also paid for it as a sinister campaign against him was launched to delegitimize him.It is never too late to remind the survival-obsessed civilian governments to institute some of these measures.     Editor’s note: I am at great pain to publish this article. I have always had great regard for Raza Rumi and Najam Sethi. This interview with Ahmed Lidhanvi Deobandi has no news value whatsoever. It does not cross-question any of the claims of a known terrorist. Therefore it can only be seen as humanizing and promotion of terrorism. The claims by the terror leader are dissected below. The media in Pakistan led by Mr. Sethi should be calling for enforcing the ban on hate groups rather than promoting them. How can the Shia or Sunni Brelvi or Christians or minorities in Pakistan negotiate or have dialogue with those Takfiri Deobandi militants (accounting for less than 1 percent of the population) who consider their religious duty to raise mobs with kafir kafir slogan burn their homes and kill them? Why are these Takfiri Militant proxies of the Pakistan Army protected by the “liberal media”?     When powerful provincial government ministers in the Punjab loot their coffers for cosmetic projects, one can rest assured that some of that budget is also allocated to opportunist sychophants and flatterers in the media and NGos / thank-tanks.

    While there is no proof that money was exchanged between PML-N government in the Punjab and some good liberals, one was shocked to read Raza Rumi’s (Director of Sherry Rehman’s Jinnah Institute and Editor of Najam Sethi’s The Friday Times) flattery for the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi facilitator and Punjab’s Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif. http://criticalppp.com/archives/233275

    While there is no evidence that Raza Rumi also receives funding from the Punjab Government like Malik Ishaq (LeJ-ASWJ), nothing else made sense for his flattery of Punjab Government in Express Tribune and his usual flattery of PML-N leaders on Twitter. This is in addition to his promotion of the the Deobandi cleric who secured Malik Ishaq’s release from the Lahore jail as a progressive cleric.
