Did Rehman Malik and Babar Awan kill Benazir Bhutto?
After the indictment of General Pervez Musharraf and some of his cronies in Pakistan’s military and civil establishment by the UN Commission, certain agents of the establishment in Pakistani media and politics have become active in their traditional diversion and division tactics in order to save real killers from gallows.
Instead of investigating and discussing the role of General Musharraf and the security agencies in Benazir Bhutto’s murder, certain vested interests are creating an impression as if BB’s inner circles within her own family and the PPP were involved in her murder.
Two such persons who are clearly a target of the ISI’s disinformation cell are Rehman Malik and Babar Awan. While I have some reservations about the ‘speeding away’ of Rehman Malik and others at the time of BB’s assassination, I attribute this act to the lack of personal courage and leadership skills.

Second column of Asadullah Ghalib in defence of Rehman Malik and Babar Awan (and other loyalists of the PPP and President Zardari):
They have to resign from their posts and its the duty of Govt to inquire them both. If they proved innocent and had clean chit from Govt after the inquiry of BB’s Assasination case then they should join their offices again. Simple as that.
Actually, This is the best column in defence of Rehman Malik and Babar Awan that I have read so far. More power to your pen, Mr Ghalib.
They will not resign, thats for sure, as resignation will become precedence for previous NRO cases on Rehman and corruption case on Babar Awan. Qamar Zaman Kaira have already announced that they will be interrogated first and Govt may ask resignation, if found guilty !!! which they never will be found as such under their own supreme setup.
I wonder, the title of above article should be like ” DID REHMAN MALIK AND BABAR AWAN KNEW THAT BENAZIR BHUTTO WILL BE KILLED TODAY” and there will be wide spread riot in whole pindi. Thats why they made their great successful escape well before that critical 11th hour !
اعجاز شاہ نے اچانک روٹ بدلوا دیا‘ اعلیٰ افسروں کو اس بات کا یقین تھا کہ بینظیر بھٹو کے جلسہ میں کوئی حادثہ ہونے والا ہے
اسلام آباد (خبرنگار خصوصی) فیکٹ فائنڈنگ کمیٹی کے سامنے پیش ہونے والے پولیس افسروں میں سے دو نے اعتراف کیا ہے کہ 27دسمبر کو بے نظیر بھٹو کا جلسہ شروع ہونے سے قبل آئی بی چیف اعجاز شاہ کی طرف سے آگاہ کیا گیا کہ راولپنڈی‘ اسلام آباد کے تمام ہسپتالوں میں ایمرجنسی نافذ کر دی جائے کوئی ڈاکٹر ہسپتال سے 20منٹ کے فاصلہ سے دور نہ جائے‘ شہر میں کوئی بڑا حادثہ ہو سکتا ہے جبکہ بے نظیر بھٹو کا جلسہ ختم ہونے سے 25منٹ قبل آئی بی چیف اعجاز شاہ کی ہدایت پر بینظیر بھٹو کا روٹ تبدیل کیا گیا ورنہ پلان کے مطابق بینظیر بھٹو کو گوالمنڈی کے راستے سے واپس لے کر جانا تھا اور تمام سکیورٹی اہلکار اسی روٹ پر موجود تھے۔ آئی بی چیف اعجاز شاہ کی ہدایت پر روٹ تبدیل کیا گیا جس کی وجہ سے پولیس اہلکاروں میں ابہام پیدا ہو گیا انہیں یہ معلوم نہ ہو سکا کہ سکیورٹی جس روڈ پر لگائی گئی ہے اس پر بینظیر بھٹو کی گاڑی کیوں نہیں لائی جا رہی‘ جب بینظیر بھٹو کی گاڑی جلسہ گاہ سے باہر آئی تو آگے سے آنے والے لوگوں نے بینظیر بھٹو کی گاڑی کو روک کر جئے بھٹو کے نعرے لگانے شروع کر دئیے۔ ان لوگوں کو بینظیر بھٹو کی گاڑی سے دور رکھنے کیلئے پولیس اہلکار موجود نہیں تھے کیونکہ پولیس اہلکار گوالمنڈی کے روٹ پر موجود تھے جسے 30منٹ قبل گاڑیاں لگاکر بند کر دیا گیا تھا۔ ایک پولیس افسر نے کمیٹی کو بتایا کہ بے نظیر بھٹو جب جلسہ گاہ میں داخل ہوئیں تو میں نے ایمبولینس گاڑی ساتھ نہ ہونے پر تشویش کا اظہار کیا تو مجھے بتایا گیا کہ اس گاڑی کی ضرورت نہیں‘ جب بینظیر بھٹو پر حملہ ہو گیا تو پولیس کے پاس کوئی ایسی گاڑی موجود نہیں تھی جس پر بینظیر بھٹو کو ڈال کر ہسپتال لایا جاتا اسی وجہ سے بینظیر بھٹو کو تباہ شدہ گاڑی میں ہی ہسپتال لایا گیا ان کو ہسپتال میں لانے میں تاخیر ہوئی‘ ہسپتال میں پہلے ہی ڈاکٹر اس انتظار میں موجود تھے کہ کوئی حادثہ ہونے والا ہے۔ ذرائع کے مطابق کمیٹی کے سامنے پیش ہونے والے پولیس افسروں نے جس انداز میں واقعات کو بیان کیا اس سے محسوس ہو رہا ہے کہ بعض اداروں کے اعلیٰ افسروں کو اس بات کا یقین تھا کہ بینظیر بھٹو کے جلسہ میں کوئی حادثہ ہونے والا ہے مگر اسے کنٹرول کرنے کا کوئی مناسب انتظام نہ کیا جا سکا۔
