Al Qaeda incites Shia genocide in Indian-administered Kashmir

On 13 July 2013, Syria’s notorious Al Nusra Front (a branch of Al Qaeda in Iraq) incited Wahhabi and Deobandi Jihadists to kill Shia Muslmis in Badgam area of Indian-administered Kashmir.

Soon after the inctiement by Saudi-backed Al Qaeda, Deobandi and Wahhabi terrorists in Badgam and other areas of Kashmir started attacking Shia Muslims, burning their houses, mosques and killing and injuring a number of Shias.

Many of Deobandi and Wahhabi Jihadists in Jammu and Kashmir are trained by Pakistan’s ISI, known for training and sponoring Wahhabi and Deobandi Jihadist-sectarian groups incuding Jamaat-ud-Dawa (Wahhabis) and Sipah Sahaba (Deobandis).

In Payrus and in Sahipora, over a dozen homes and a Shia mosque have been burned down by Deobandi Wahhabi terrorists. Fatima Mir, an elderly Shia Muslim woman, is in critical care, battling for her life because of head injuries. Shias have been attacked in Sabdan, Galwanpora and Reshipora villages of Budgam.

Some Indian authors are naively describing Shia Genocide in Kashmir as Sunni-Shia sectarian/commual violence. It’s Wahhabi Deobandi terrorism against Shias and Sunni Sufis/Barelvis. In his article published in the First Post, Praveen Swami ignores pattern of Al Qaeda’s hatred of Shias and their systematic target killing by Al Qaeda affiliated Deobandi and Wahhabi militants in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq and other parts of the world.

Swami refers to some harsh words exchanged between a Sunni and a Shia which led to “Sunni-Shia communal violence”. Perhaps he is not aware of typical Deobandi Wahhabi tactic of spreading rumours against Shia Muslims (usually pertaining to the alleged blasphemy of certain heroes of Sunni Muslims) which are systematically circulated to stir and justify mob violence against Shias. In Pakistan-adminsitered Gilgit Baltistan in 1988, a similar false rumour spread by Deoband Wahhabi clerics led to Pashtun lashkar’s attack on Shias of GB areas killing thousands of Shias and ransacking dozens of their villages.

Indian columnists and news reporters must note that there’s no “Shia-Sunni communal or sectarian violence” in Kashmir’s Badgam. It’s blatant Shia Genocide by Takfiri Deobandi terrorists imported from Pakistan. In Pakistan, Deobandi terrorists (Sipah Sahaba, Taliban) are responsible for almost all acts of terrorism including Shia genocide and violence against Sunni Barelvis/Sufis, Ahmadis, Christians, Hindus etc. Thus, Shia genocide in Pakistan and Kashmir is not a Sunni-Shia sectarian war, it is a war by Takfiri Deobandi and Wahhabi terrorists against all non-Wahhabi, non-Deobandi communities, whether Muslim or non-Muslim.

In Badgam area of Kashmir, Tablighi Jamaat (of Deobandi demonination) has become influential in last few years paving way for Deobandi terrorists. Not unlike Pakistan, Darul Uloom Deoband seminary and Tablighi Jamaat are serving as key conduit and safe heavens for radicalized Deobandi terrorists. Maulana Abdur Rashid Deobandi’s Dar-ul-Ulom Bilalia and Mufti Nazir Ahmad Qasmi Deobandi’s Dar-ul-Uloom Rahimia are reported to be key clerics behind Shia Genocide in Badgam and other parts of Kashmir.

It is not the first time that Shia Muslims have been attacked by Deobandi and Wahhabi terrorists in India. In 2000, National Conference’s Shia leader Aga Syed Mehdi was killed by Takfiri Deobandi terrorists in Kashmir. Many similar incidents have taken place in which unamred Shia Muslims and their Shia mosques/Imambargahs and Muharram rituals have been attacked by Deobandi and Wahhabi Salafi militants.

In the latest incident of Shia genocide in Badgam area, the First Post reports:

In part, the fears of Shias of Kashmir are driven by the fate of Shi’a in Pakistan—where terrorists claiming ideological affiliation to the Deobandi tradition have been slaughtering members of the community. Murtaza Haider, a scholar, noted in  recent commentary, hundreds of not thousands of Shi’a have been butchered; “taken off buses, lined up, and gunned down”.

Hermann Kreutzman, an expert on Pakistan’s Northern Areas, has recorded that this violence was linked to it’s government’s sponsorship Deobanid and Wahhabi jihadists to counter Iranian influence.  In 1988, former Pakistani president Pervez Musharraf presided over a large scale slaughter of Shi’a in Gilgit, part of pre-1947 Jammu an Kashmir; he is still referred to locally as “the Butcher of Gilgit”.

Kashmir’s Shi’a leadership has long feared the consequences of Deobandi Wahhabi jihadi terrorism might have for the community: in the 1990s, its leadership even sponsored a militia (self-defence volunteers) to cushion against the possibility of an Islamist victory. Elements of the Shi’a community have also drawn ever closer to the state: in 2009, hundreds turned out to mourn Shabbir Malik, a local boy who died alongside other  Indian troops fighting jihadists. We demand Indian and ‎Kashmir‬ governments to take tough action against Wahhabi and Deobandi terrorists responsible for ‎Shia Genocide‬ in ‪‎Badgam‬. Shia Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir expect that unlike Pakistan, India and J&K State will not be complicit to Shia Genocide at the hands of Deobandi-Wahhabi terrorists.

Protests against Shia genocide in Pakistan

In April 2012, tens of thousands of Shia and Sunni residents of Indian administered Kashmir (Kargil District) protested against Shia genocide in Pakistan, particularly in Gilgit Baltistan (Pakistan administered Kashmir). According to an estimate, at least 20,000 Shia Muslims of all ethnic backgrounds (Gilgiti, Balti, Pashtun, Hazara, Punjabi, Muhajir, Sindhi, Baloch etc) have been killed by Takfiri Deobandi militants known as Sipah Sahaba Taliban (SST), some of whom are nurtured as strategic assets by Pakistan army for cross-border Jihadist activities in Kashmir and Afghanistan.
