At Pakistan’s first sever Social Media Summit (aka PKSMS) in Karachi, the following resolutions were passed:
At #pksms Pak bloggers rejected the allegation that MOST of them are urban-centric, ignore Blaoch genocide in Khuzdar and Turbat, Pashtun genocide in Swat and FATA, and Shia genocide in Parachinar, D.I.Khan and Quetta.
At #PKSMS, bloggers of Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad rejected the allegation that they remain silent on Tooris blockade, Baloch genocide and Hazara massacre

Final Comment
“The organizers didn’t invite some of boldest anti-establishment blogs: Pamir Times of Gilgit, Pakhtunkhuwa Peace Forum, Baloch Hal and Seraiki Waseb FB groups. Middle East bloggers, twitter journalists were representing what was happening in their streets, unfortunately Lahori and Karachite bloggers don’t represent Pakistan.” “Pakistan was represented by the same people who we are tired of evading the real issues faced by us.”
Did someone read this very patronizing post by the US Consul General?
US govt employees must note that there are a few, very few independent, anti-military establishment bloggers out there not because but in spite of US and its patronage of the military establishment (ISI etc).

This is correct: Most of the website belonging to Baloch nationalists are routinely blocked. Many bloggers come from Karachi and some from Lahore and Islamabad with the sprinkling of them coming from places like Hyderabad and Faislabad and Abbotabad, etc. So you can see that the distribution is not even at all and the issues faced by majority of the poor never gets reported. Similarly, reporting from Quetta and Khuzdar, main centers of Baloch Nationalist Movements, is almost non existent.

Unfortunately, a vast majority of social media members and bloggers belong to upper middle or upper class and it is more an intra- class interaction at best. The overwhelming mainstream of people from lower classes is still not the part of this new revolution due to digital and medium divides. As long as they are not in reach, gap will not be plugged and hence a true and genuine interaction will not take place and we continue to delegitimize each other life styles and social ideas.
http://tribune.com.pk/story/186962/pakistans-social-media-revolution/
When US Consul General writes: “We must never forget, the many journalists who have been killed or injured as they sought to report on the challenges facing us today. They take extraordinary risks to enlighten us with the truth. Nobody embodied this commitment more than Syed Saleem Shahzad, who was senselessly murdered trying to pursue this truth.”
Not unlike fake liberal bloggers he refrained from naming and condemning the killers, the ISI and its proxies.
Shehrbano Taseer is rapidly becoming a part of the typical, urban centric, pro-military establishment chatterati. The sooner she recovers, the better.

Correct me if I am wrong but LUBP was present in full force at this event. So is LUBP also right wing pro-establishment ISI organization?
Also Fauzia Wahab was seen at the event as well. She is also ISI? Dang!
You can add excellent bloggers of Hazara Community in the list too.
@Tacitus Good point. If LUBP was present in the event, they should have raised some excellent concerns highlighted in this post at the main event!
On a related note, the post suggests that most not all blogs are urban centric and pro-establishment. There are therefore exceptions which are listed in the post itself.
Tacitus,
well, you seem to be missing the author’s point completely. The argument being made was that the attendees did not adequately represent the marginalized communities and classes of the country, not that *this blog* was not represented at the summit. After all, a blog of supporters of the ruling party is not represenative of marginalized communities, by default.
since you seem to have been in attendance perhaps you can present a rebuttal to the author’s point that baloch, gilgit-baltistan, hazara, shia and religious minorities were well-represented at this summit?
@Tacticus,
Fauzia Wahab is already sold to the ISI. She has said sorry to the ISI on the raymond davis statement. She repents everyday for what she said!
Though NFP does not qualify as a blogger, he’s one of the country’s leading columnists, but his blogs in Dawn too are one of the most read in the region.
In fact his Dawn blogs and Tweets get a lot more attantion than most of the so-called ‘top bloggers’ present at the conf.
A friend and myself heard some attendents asking the organizers as to why NFP was not invited. One of them said that he was but he refused to come. That is a blatant lie. I emailed NFP to confirm and as it turned out, not only did he not refuse, he had no idea about such a summit.
Of course he would have been a misfit there anyway, being genuine liberal!
NFP would have said something which these jerks of teeth, gawaahi and all may not have liked!!

@ Y A. Tauqeer
I agree that a popular columnist like NFP who has also been turned into an equally popular blogger by dawn should have been there, but bhai, I can assure you he would have refused to come. NOT because of the reasons you guys have outlined but simply because he is a well known recluse and hardly ever comes to public events. He is also known to have been extremely selsctive about appearing on TV. So relax.
May be I am wrong but I see that Pakistan blogs are not that much popular compare of Arab and other countries blogs ,in Pakistan the anchor person and columnists are more popular then few bloggers ,Most the public in Pakistan read and listen Urdu instead of English ,If you compare this to Arab world ,the bloggers used to write in their native language which make them more popular .
There are some sites where Pakistan bloggers discuss the issue is more popular and effected then the individual blogger page .
Also now the Urdu columnists and TV anchors are using their Facebook pages which are also very popular
Its so sad to see Laibaah’s voice silenced on Twitter. Her account was suspended on the complaint of Cyril Almeida, Ejaz Haider, Mosharraf Zaidi and gang.
No Pakistan court ever completed a trial agnst him in more than 150 terrorism cases Malik Ishaq has been named in in last 15-20 years!
Why? Because whenever a judge did try, Malik Ishaq would in court proceedins read out details of the judge’s family members and their schedules! No judge was ever given protection by any Pak Govt for daring to try him!
This evil man and his evil band of monsters have POWERFUL friends in ISI and our political elite
