Saudi-sponsored ISI using Takfiri Deobandi militants to hijack Pakistan elections: PPP, ANP and MQM’s press conference
KARACHI (30 April 2013): The political parties, which are being targeted by the Pakistani Taliban for having ‘secular views,’ late on Tuesday (30 April) said the coming May 11 polls are being hijacked by “local and international establishment,” DawnNews reported.
It is believed that Pakistan army’s intelligence agencies (local establishment) and Saudi Arabia (international establishment) are providing moral, ideological and logistic support to Takfiri Deobandi militants of Taliban and Sipah-e-Sahaba (aka Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat or Lashkar-e-Jhangvi).
Speaking during a joint-press conference held at the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) headquarters Nine-Zero in Karachi, Dr Farooq Sattar (MQM), Senator Rehman Malik (PPP) and Senator Shahi Syed (ANP) reiterated their stance to carry on with their respective electoral campaigns despite the terrorist threats.
At least 60 people have been killed in Deobandi militants’ attacks targeting politicians and political parties across Pakistan since April 11.
The three main parties of the outgoing coalition government – Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Awami National Party (ANP) and MQM – had earlier in the day also rejected the call to bring in the Army in Sindh.
All three leaders, during the press conference, vowed to foil the conspiracy of bringing an extremist, pro-Taliban, pro-Lashkar-pe-Jhangvi and right-wing government in the country.
“Militants want to divide Pakistan by bringing a pro-Taliban prime minister in the coming elections,” said former interior minister and PPP leader Rehman Malik.
He blamed the outgoing Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government in Punjab of providing cover to banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ). Lashkar-e-Jhangvi is currently contesting elections in the name of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ aka Sipah-e-Sahaba) that is part of a Deobandi-Wahhabi political alliance led by Maulana Sami-ul-Haq Deobandi, known to have close links with Pakistan army and Saudi Arabia. The prevailing sectarian (mostly anti-Shia and anti-Sunni Barelvi) violence by Deobandi militants in Karachi and elsewhere in the country is due to that patronage, he added.
“Pakistani and international establishment are behind keeping the three liberal political parties of the country away from coming into power,” said MQM’s Farooq Sattar. He said there was no level playing field being provided to all parties on parity.
The MQM leader urged the interim government and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to fulfil their constitutional responsibility of ensuring free, fair and transparent elections.
ANP’s president of its Sindh chapter, Shahi Syed said that a conspiracy is being hatched against spirit of Islam and the survival of Pakistan. “Terrorists cannot frighten us……..its about time we stand together against the militants,” said Syed. “Taliban were assassins, are and will remain that,” he added.
The three leaders, prior to the press conference, held a consultative session to device a joint-electoral strategy for the coming polls.

“Terrorists have given a clear message to liberal political parties: they should either boycott elections or be ready to face terrorist attacks,” he said. Dr Sattar said that right-wing parties were being given undue advantage by extremist forces, adding other political parties were not being given opportunities to run election campaigns.
He urged the Election Commission of Pakistan and caretaker governments to ensure secure environment to all parties for running their election campaigns. “Liberal and enlightened parties are being made scapegoat to benefit some right-wing parties,” Dr Sattar said. He warned that if the country’s establishment did not play its due role for holding free and fair elections, liberal political forces will hold them equally responsible for terrorist attacks.
Rehman Malik of PPP termed terrorist attacks a conspiracy against the country’s integrity, adding that pro-Taliban parties were behind all such anti-state activities. The countrymen needed to know about the accord between right-wing parties and militants, he said. Malik said that Karachi would not have been burning if terrorists of Laskar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) were not provided safe heavens in Southern Punjab.
“Who is supporting LeJ terrorists in Punjab,” Rehman Malik questioned. He demanded of the ECP to take action against Sharif brothers in Pak Land and other scams. Malik said that the Sharif brothers were patronising Taliban just to protect their political future. He alleged that the PML-N and PTI were acting as sub-organisations of Taliban. ANP leader Shahi Syed said that ANP, MQM and PPP would not allow terrorists to make decision in Parliament.

TTP focused on ending democracy, says Mehsud
By Nasruminallah Published: April 30, 2013
MIRANSHAH:
In a letter to the media, leader of banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has said that his group is focused on jeopardising democracy by hindering elections in the country.
“We have succeeded politically after we were asked to negotiate by the government,” said Hakimullah Mehsud.
He added that the group was now solely ‘focused’ on the next elections.
As elections are nearing, TTP’s aim would be to “end the democratic system,” the letter further said. Mehsud also urged TTP militants to target senior politicians and party leaders, while continuing the battle against security forces.
Furthermore, in a rare address from an undisclosed location, the militant chief claimed that the TTP was not just fighting a war on a tactical level, but were also able to ‘subdue’ politicians by making them negotiate.
TTP student union
A student union of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan was traced by the police while three of its members splashed posters and banners around Multan.
The publicity material was scripted with inflammatory messages, encouraging people to not vote in elections as democracy was ‘un-Islamic’. It demanded that the people of Pakistan should adhere to the shariah (Islamic law), and said that it was haraam for them to participate in the voting process.
Police claim that the three members were students belonged to Lahore, but were enrolled at the Bahauddin Zakarriya University in Multan. After posting 50 banners in the urban area, they were putting posters on the walls of the Multan press club when they were caught by the journalists.
Police officials claim that they were also making other plans which “could not be shared with public as of yet”.
Investigation officer inspector Ansar Ali told The Express Tribune that they are also planning to make their individual organisation for south Punjab to motivate people against the elections. “Investigations are underway and raids have been expanded to trace the whole network.”
However, two of the students were able to escape from the spot, while the third one was shifted to an unknown place by the intelligence agencies. Initial investigations have revealed that TTP student union works in the form of small groups.
The intercepted Usman Ghani is a student of architectural engineering at the Bahauddin Zakariyah University and was recruited by the TTP when he was only 18- years-old.

This is the real face of Talibaan and one who link their activities with drone attacks should prepare himself to see shuttlecock burqa wearing ladies all around with no TV/radio and off-course media else where. The subjects of the state will be living in stone age and while the ameerul momineen will be living under tight security measures to protect him from the Drone attacks etc from the Muslims not following their interpretation of Islam. But I am not sure whether they will let any Muslim alive who does not follow their interpretation of Islam.

I urge the people of Pakistan to reject this campaign of TTP and vote for the better future of our coming generations. This is the time we must not fail or should get ready to face the rule of obscurantist barbarians that do not know anything about humanity what to talk of Islam which is the most peaceful and progressive religion.

We should all vote just to defeat TTP.
Those always relentlessly criticizing & ridiculing Rehman Malik are silent on how their ideal CM Najam Sethi has given free hand to ASWJ-LeJ

Statement by Human Rights Watch:
Pakistan: Ensure Election Security from Taliban Attacks
Source: Human Rights Watch – Mon, 29 Apr 2013 09:34 PM
Author: Human Rights Watch
(Islamabad) – Pakistan’s interim government should take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of candidates and political party activists at risk of attack from the Taliban and other militant groups, Human Rights Watch said today. Nationwide parliamentary elections in Pakistan are scheduled for May 11, 2013.
Since April 21, when election campaigning formally began, the Taliban and other armed groups have carried out more than 20 attacks on political parties, killing 46 people and wounding over 190. Earlier in April, another 24 people were killed and over 100 injured in election-related attacks.
On March 18, a spokesperson for the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (the Pakistani Taliban, TTP) declared elections part of an “un-Islamic democratic system which only serves the interests of infidels and enemies of Islam,” and warned voters to stay away from political rallies by the major coalition partners in the outgoing government. Particularly at risk have been the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), and the Awami National Party (ANP). On April 28, the TTP again declared that it “had decided to target those secular political parties which were part of the previous coalition government.”
“Pakistan’s interim government should use law enforcement agencies and, if essential, the army, to provide as much protection as possible to candidates and political parties from Taliban attacks,” said Ali Dayan Hasan, Pakistan director at Human Rights Watch. “Unless the government, the country’s independent election commission, and security forces ensure that all parties can campaign freely without fear, the election may be severely compromised.”
Pakistan’s interim government, which took over on March 17, after the end of the government’s five-year term, should provide protection to individual candidates at high risk, Human Rights Watch said. It should also facilitate election campaigning by political parties targeted by the Taliban by providing adequate security for rallies and campaign meetings. The interim government should redeploy civilian law enforcement to sensitive areas, particularly in Quetta, in insurgency-wracked Balochistan province, Karachi, Sindh province, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on the Afghan border.
The Pakistan military, which is officially under civilian rule but has long operated beyond its control, should follow the directives of the interim government to provide security in a nonpartisan manner wherever necessary, Human Rights Watch said.
Numerous deadly attacks were carried out against political parties in April. On April 27, an attack on a PPP election meeting in Karachi killed three and injured another 20. On April 25, two people were wounded in a grenade attack on a PPP election office in Noshki, Balochistan province, and eight were killed in attacks in Karachi for which the Taliban took responsibility. On April 24, a bomb attack near the home of a politician from the PPP injured three people in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The Karachi-based MQM party shut down its election offices in protest after an April 23 attack on an election office in the city killed five and wounded 15 party activists. However, on April 27, two people were killed and over 25 injured in bomb attacks targeting the MQM election office in Karachi’s Orangi Town area. Earlier, on April 11, S.M. Shiraz, an MQM candidate, was shot dead in Karachi. On April 10, Fakhrul Islam, an MQM candidate, was shot dead in Hyderabad, Sindh province. The Taliban claimed responsibility for these attacks on the MQM. The MQM has declared it will only campaign door-to-door and not hold major rallies in light of threats to its activists and the government’s failure to address the situation.
On April 28, a child was killed and 13 people were injured in a bomb attack on an ANP rally in Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Earlier in the day, two bomb attacks in Kohat and the provincial capital, Peshawar, targeting the election offices of independent candidates opposed to the Taliban killed nine and injured 30. On April 26, a bomb attack on an ANP election office killed 11 and injured over 40 in Karachi. On April 22, a grenade attack on an ANP election office in Swabi wounded two people. On April 21, the home in Turbat, Balochistan, of ANP chief Malik Baloch was attacked. Two ANP activists were killed in Pishin, Balochistan, in an attack on an election rally the same day. On April 16, 16 people were killed in a suicide bomb attack on an ANP rally in Peshawar, which sought to target former minister Ghulam Ahmed Bilour. On April 1, a bomb attack on the ANP killed two tribal leaders in the town of Bannu in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
On April 28, a child was killed and five people injured in an attack on an independent candidate’s election meeting in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province. Between April 23 and April 25 there were eight bombings in Quetta attributed to the militant group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), a Taliban affiliate. On April 23 alone, four attacks killed six people and wounded at least 45 in the city. LeJ claimed responsibility for these attacks, one of which targeted Abdul Khaliq Hazara, leader of the Hazara Democratic Party, who was not harmed.
On April 15, a bomb attack targeting Sanaullah Zehri, the candidate of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in Khuzdar, Balochistan, killed four, including three members of his family. Twenty-five others were wounded. Zehri accused Baloch nationalists for the attack.
“Since the end of military rule in 2008, Pakistan’s political parties have displayed an impressive commitment to cementing democratic and constitutional rule,” Hasan said. “It would be a tragedy if a combination of militancy and the government’s failure to ensure security compromises the election and sets back Pakistan’s progress towards regular, free, and fair elections in which all Pakistanis can participate.”
