The World Shia Forum (WSF) welcomes U.S. President Obama’s condemnation of Salafi/Wahhabi and Deobandi violence and incitement against Shiite Muslims and Sufi Muslims.
Thousands of Shiite Muslims and Sunni Sufi Muslims have been killed in Pakistan, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Libya and other countries at the hands of Takfiri Salafist and Takfiri Deobandi Muslims who operate as Al-Qaeda, Islamic State, Taliban, Sipah-e-Sahaba (ASWJ), Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Ansar Al Sharia, Jundullah etc.
In Pakistan alone, at least 22,000 Shiites have been killed in what may be described as a gradual genocide. According to a recent statement by Human Rights Watch, Shia killings in Pakistan by Deobandi extremist groups allied with the military have escalated in Pakistan. More than 45,000 Sunni Sufis and Barelvis have been killed by Deobandi terrorists in the last few decades.
Saudi-linked Salafi Wahhabi terrorists were also involved in the murder of U.S. Ambassador in Libya a few weeks ago. Similar excesses against Shia and Sufi have been reported in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, Libya, Mali and other countries.
Here are relevant excerpts from President Obama’s address to the United Nations General Assembly
New York City, NY on September 25, 2012:
The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam. Yet to be credible, those who condemn that slander must also condemn the hate we see when the image of Jesus Christ is desecrated, churches are destroyed, or the Holocaust is denied. Let us condemn incitement against Sufi Muslims, and Shiite pilgrims. It is time to heed the words of Gandhi: “Intolerance is itself a form of violence and an obstacle to the growth of a true democratic spirit.” Together, we must work towards a world where we are strengthened by our differences, and not defined by them.
All of us have an interest in standing up to these forces.
Let us remember that Muslims have suffered the most at the hands of extremism. On the same day our civilians were killed in Benghazi, a Turkish police officer was murdered in Istanbul only days before his wedding; more than ten Yemenis were killed in a car bomb in Sana’a; and several Afghan children were mourned by their parents just days after they were killed by a suicide bomber in Kabul.
The impulse towards intolerance and violence may initially be focused on the West, but over time it cannot be contained. The same impulses toward extremism are used to justify war between Sunnis and Shia, between tribes and clans. It leads not to strength and prosperity but to chaos. In less than two years, we have seen largely peaceful protests bring more change to Muslim-majority countries than a decade of violence. Extremists understand this. And because they have nothing to offer to improve the lives of people, violence is their only way to stay relevant. They do not build, they only destroy.
It is time to leave the call of violence and the politics of division behind. On so many issues, we face a choice between the promise of the future, or the prisons of the past. We cannot afford to get it wrong. We must seize this moment. And America stands ready to work with all who are willing to embrace a better future.
The future must not belong to those who target Coptic Christians in Egypt – it must be claimed by those in Tahrir Square who chanted “Muslims, Christians, we are one.” The future must not belong to those who bully women – it must be shaped by girls who go to school, and those who stand for a world where our daughters can live their dreams just like our sons.
For the first time in the world history, a U.S. President has acknowledged the distinction between the oppressed Muslims (Shias, Sufis) and the oppressors (Takfiri Salafists and Takfiri Deobandis). For the first time, a world leader of highest stature has condemned murders and incitement to violence against Shias and Sufi Muslims taking place at the hands of Takfiri militant groups.
When Muslim Leaders, governments and OIC leaders are unable to condemn Shia Genocide and Sufi Sunni massacre, President Obama is condemning it. This is a moment of reflection for Pakistan President Zardari, Turkey Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah and other leaders of the Muslim world.
We welcome President Barack Hussein Obama’s call for tolerance, equality and humanity. On behalf of World Shia Forum, we hope to work together with all pro-democracy leaders, groups, countries, communities and organizations to build a world based on mutual respect, tolerance, freedom, democracy, justice and human rights.

In the UN General Assembly, world’s most powerful man condemned Shia genocide while President Zardari, King Abdullah and President Ahmadinejad tired to hide under their chairs.

with all due respect it is thier drone attacks and thier support of khadem ul hermain that has created more issues for common muslims ,I am sure he didnt have balls to condemn the treatment that saudi give to us haza miskeen pakistanis or the treatment given to shias in thier eastern provinces .Also i am sure when we talk about the expression of freedom he didnt remeber the 70 % shia majority being ruled by the rulers of bahrain ,and yes i can just go on and on .It is and yes we have a difference of opinin on Iran But he didnt had any balls to say that let us get of the fabrication against Iran really go into the root cause of thier miss trust going back to removal of dr musadaq yes the only democartically elected leader of Iran .And how shah was brought back in .When we talk about American policy it is the same withe little twist of lime .let us not forget the allende of chile , the vietnam wars countell millions have died.Yes looks good for american politician to talk about human rights , the reality is much difference and unfortunately the emperor is naked now for the world to see

Don’t be over-negative. We did not see Iranian President Ahmadinejad or Pakistan President Zardari condemning Shia genocide in the UN General Assembly. Did we?
@Mujahid, and others: Look, I also appreciate the statement of Barack Obama. But look at the hypocrisy, its the CIA/Mossad and American institutions that back the extremist Salafis and are bringing them to power in the Middle East.
Appreciate the statement of American President, but Abdul Rehman Laghari is corret in pointing out the atrocities commited by American intellegence and Armed Forces on the world.
Also remember Asif Zardari is a US puppet and he is a corrupt man. As far as Ahmadinejad is concerned he is a kind, honest and upright man. He should have spoken up on Shia genocide but the problem is an entire hail of criticism would be hurled at the Iranian President for ”interfering in Pakistan’s affairs” by a lot of people , who beleive Iran is backing Shia groups. So it was probably not an option.

At a time when many ‘liberals’ in Pakistan scoff at LUBP and Pakistan Blogzine for its activism against Shia genocide, this unexpected shout-out from President Obama comes as vindication of our united efforts against the sectarian terrorist outfits and their silent supporters and appeasers in our society and our social media elite. Now wait for the usual suspects to pounce on this statement and condemn President Obama for either meddling in the internal affairs of, or creating/fanning internal schisms in, the Muslim world in general and Pakistan in particular.

This is the first time in history that an American President has mentioned Shiite genocide at the United Nations. Many Shiites believe this to be out of good will but even more Shiites believe it to be another game of the oppressors.
An active personality on Twitter, when Shiite genocide is concerned, Abdul Nishapuri, has classified this an act of good will. He criticized Zardari, saying that Obama, who is a Christian condemned Shiite genocide in his speech and Zardari, who is Shiite himself, tried to hide it.
On the other hand, a Shiite youngster said Ali Asad, ‘This statement is another game of the “Eldest Saitan”‘. He saids it is like oppression injustice and terrorism, condemns oppression, injustice and terrorism.
Most of the Shiites in Pakistan and all of the Shiite organizations and political groups belive America to be the reason behind Shiite genocide. They believe that Sipah-e-Sahaba and other terrorist organizations like it, are creations of America so Muslim countries would never see peace. Most Shiites and their organizations believe that America is the main reason for all the problems of the Islamic world. However, some Shiites believe that people are just using America as a scape-goat.
Like all over the world, Shiite genocide is on the rise in Pakistan too. Tehreek-e-Taliban, Sipah-e-Sahaba and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi are all actively involved in the Shiite murders in Pakistan. 11 Shiites have been killed at the hands of these terrorists in the past 3 days in Quetta and Karachi. A website called criticalapp has classified this the reaction of the statement from Obama.
