Shahbaz Sharif continues to sponsor Takfiri Deobandis of Sipah-e-Sahaba
posted by Abdul Nishapuri | September 23, 2012 | In Featured, Original ArticlesFAISALABAD: Jaranwala City police have registered two cases identifying 11 men and accusing 600 others for clashes that left 47 people injured on Ishq-i-Rasool Day on Friday. The attempted murder and incitement FIR stated that 47 people, including six policemen, were injured in firing and stone pelting from a Takfiri Deobandi mosque in Jaranwala Main Bazaar which is controlled by banned Sipah-e-Sahaba (Lashkar-e-Jhangvi).
According to news reports, Sipah-e-Saahaba activists attacked Sunni Barelvis in front of the Jamia Masjid. Some Sipah-e-Sahaba climbed the roof of the mosque and resorted to aerial firing. A heavy contingent of police reached the spot and tried to control the situation, but in vain. The police team was attacked with bricks, injuring seven policemen. The police had to fire teargas shells to break the protest. In total 50 people were injured and shifted to Civil Hospital.
The Police report (FIR) mentions sections 324 (attempted murder), 153 (promoting hatred), 186 (obstructing a public servant from discharge of duties) and 148 and 149 (rioting) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
According to a complaint filed by Chaudhry Ghulam Nabi Anjum, general secretary of the Sunni Barelvi “Jamaat Ahle Sunnat (JAS)”, a component organisation of the Sunni Ittehad Council, accuses more than 250 people, identifying 15 members of the banned Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan (currently operating as “Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat ASWJ), of attacking a rally he was leading to mark the Ishq-i-Rasool Day. The FIR has been registered under Sections 324 (attempted murder), 337 H-2 (hurt by rash or negligent act), 148 and 149 (rioting) of the PPC and Section 16 of the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance.
The complaint said the rally was pelted with bricks and stones by people on roofs of buildings in the vicinity of Jamia Masjid. It said the rally had started from Sabri Masjid, located some 500 yards from the Jamia Masjid on the same road. The 15 men identified in the FIR included Sipah-e-Sahaba Jaranwala chapter president Fida Nafees Inqalabi and general secretary Muhammad Shafiq.
Two of the injured Sunni Barelvi men were stated to be in a critical condition at Jaranwala tehsil headquarters (THQ) hospital. Of the others, 38 were given first aid and discharged on Friday and seven hospitalised for a day. Muqaddas Shah, one of the injured, said he was passing by the Main Bazaar when clashes erupted between the two groups. He said was hit in the arm by a stray bullet. (Source 1, 2).
It may be recalled that Shahbaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister, remains a key supporter and sponsor of Takfiri Deobandis of Sipah-e-Sahaba (Lashkar-e-Jhangvi). He was elected from Bhakkar due to a seat adjustment deal with Sipah-e-Sahaba, in return he agreed to released Malik Ishaq and other dangerous terrorists of Sipah-e-Sahaba involved in murder of hundreds of moderate Sunnis and Shias. According to informed sources, Shahbaz Sharif has given free hand to Sipah-e-Sahaba to dominate over Sunni Barelvi mosques and parties in the Punjab province before the next general elections.
According to Khaled Ahmed:
Jihadi publication daily Islam (23 Feb 2010) reported that (Shahbaz Sharif’s right-hand) Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah visited Jhang and paid his respects at the tomb of the founder of the greatest banned sectarian-terrorist Deobandi organisation, Sipah-e-Sahaba: Maulana Haq Nawaz Jhangvi. He led a delegation of the PMLN which also counted parliamentary secretary Iftikhar Baloch and party MPA from Jhang, Sheikh Yaqub. He visited the tombs of other Sipah-e-Sahaba martyr-leaders like Maulana Isarul Qasimi and Allama Azam Tariq. The News (27 Feb 2010) in a report titled PMLN sees no harm in seeking banned outfit’s blessing observed: ‘Sipah-e-Sahaba is rearing its head again and its leaders’ participation in an election rally in PP-82 constituency, along with Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, has sent shivers down the spines of citizens here’.
Thanks to Shahbaz Sharif, Malik Ishaq and other Sipah-e-Sahaba leaders are free to deliver hate speeches and incite violence against Shia Muslims. Here are a few examples:

Here is a video clip of Malik Ishaq spreading hatred against Shia Muslims in Kabirwala, Punjab (19 June 2012) using the same arguments as offered by Tarek Fatah and Ahmed Ludhianvi (i.e., Shias insult the Sahaba (Companions of the Prophet), therefore, they get killed). Ironically he refers to some insults against certain Sahaba published on internet. It is now commonly known particularly in the light of recent anti-USA attacks in Libya, Egypt, Sudan and elsewhere how Takfiri Salafist-Deobandi militants themselves translate and propagate objectionable material in order to incite hatred and violence to gain political mileage and strength.

A Most Dangerous Man
The release of Malik Ishaq, a highly-connected terrorist, speaks well for

The Supreme Court of Pakistan on July 15 released on bail Malik Ishaq, leader and founder of Al Qaeda-linked Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, on grounds of “lack of evidence.” The man had been facing a number of cases at the antiterrorism court in Lahore charging him with hundreds of murders. He remained in jail for 14 years while evidence against him gradually decayed and disappeared—a pattern traced by terrorists in custody, none of whom has so far been punished in a country crawling with terrorist organizations.
On his release, he was received outside Kot Lakhpat prison by leaders of Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan, banned in 2001 as a terrorist organization but now—after being renamed harmlessly to Ahle Sunnat wal Jamaat—resting in a legal grey area because of an appeal lying with the higher judiciary. The Sahaba leader heading the welcome party was Maulana Muhammad Ahmad Ludhianvi—recalling an anti-Shia 1980s polemicist who was assassinated in Karachi—who came in handy when the current Army chief, Gen. Ashfaq Kayani, called on Ishaq to talk to the terrorists who had attacked Army General Headquarters in Rawalpindi in 2009. The Army chief’s personal plane had carried Ishaq to Rawalpindi, while another plane belonging to the ISI chief, Gen. Shuja Pasha, carried Ludhianvi.
Sipah-e-Sahaba’s welcome party was hardly a dozen strong, but by the time it reached the border of South Punjab, the numbers began to swell. If in Okara it was a few hundred, and a thousand in Khanewal, it was nearly 5,000 in Bahawalpur—the city of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi’s sister terrorist organization, Jaish-e-Muhammad. When Ishaq arrived in his village of Tarinda Sawai Khan in Rahim Yar Khan, the crowd out to greet him was actually 15,000-strong, as claimed by a Sahaba publication.
Their newspaper, Daily Ummat Karachi, in its July 16 edition said Ishaq had been freed without any “secret deal” and that he had rededicated himself to war against the proliferation of “insulters” of the Companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) on the Internet as he now fought under the flag of Sipah-e-Sahaba after disbanding Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. How far Jhangvi will be disbanded after appearing on the flag of Al Qaeda’s 313 Brigade (which includes Jandullah and Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan) is yet to be seen. One reason Ishaq has joined Sahaba is that the banning order against it is on hold and this takes him away from the mischief of the antiterrorism law.
According to the publication, Ishaq was wanted in 43 cases, involving 70 murders, out of which he had been acquitted in 37 and awarded bail in eight. The last case, involving planning—from prison—the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore in 2009 has concluded in another bail at the Supreme Court after which he has been released. Earlier resistance to release by the Punjab government had required Lahore to pay for the monthly sustenance of Ishaq’s family. This time Lahore let him go. Daily Ummat says that, because Punjab was not releasing Ishaq, Sipah-e-Sahaba decided to reach an agreement with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on electoral support in Bhakkar from where the latter was elected unopposed with the help of Ishaq’s brother.
Arriving back in South Punjab, Ishaq has consolidated the power of the hard-line sectarian organizations emanating from the state policy of jihad. He is ranked at par with the chief of Jaish-e-Muhammad, Maulana Masud Azhar, famous for his companionship with Osama bin Laden and his linkage with Omar Sheikh, who contributed to the killing of The Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in Karachi in 2002. Sheikh, too, has been charged with planning terrorist acts—including against then President Pervez Musharraf—from his prison cell in Sindh. Azhar and Sheikh were both sprung from an Indian jail in 1999 and released in Kandahar, after the hijacking of an Indian airliner in Nepal, as a result of a deal facilitated by a Pakistan-dominated Taliban government in Afghanistan.
Ishaq headed a union of shopkeepers in Rahim Yar Khan when he fell under the thrall of Maulana Haq Nawaz Jhangvi, the founder of the Shia-apostatizing Sipah-e-Sahaba in 1982 after his contacts with Arab princes enjoying extraterritorial hunting rights in Rahim Yar Khan made him strong. Against the background of an Arab-Iranian confrontation in the region, Sahaba flourished financially, too. The other devotees of Maulana Jhangvi were Jaish-e-Muhammad’s Azhar and Riaz Basra, who was killed in a “police encounter” in 2002 because “no judge could sentence him.” Basra and Ishaq founded Laskhar-e-Jhangvi.
After Ishaq was arrested in 1997 in the wake of the killing of five Iranian Air Force trainees in Rawalpindi, Basra threatened the government with dire consequences unless he was released. Meanwhile, another Lashkar-e-Jhangvi commander, Akram Lahori, went on killing Shias in Karachi, which according to Ishaq was much easier because the Jhangvi cadre there was better trained than in the Punjab. (Training was received in Al Qaeda camps in Surobi, Afghanistan.) Facing trial in Multan, Lahori, responsible for the killing of such well-known Karachi figures as businessman Shaukat Mirza and prominent Shia doctors, was indicted in 2010 after living comfortably in jail for seven years. Witnesses against him in Multan continue to die or disappear. Witnesses against Ishaq also have a hard time surviving, as in the case brought against him by a Shia citizen, Fida Husain Ghalvi, charging that Ishaq had killed 10 of his family.
The Punjab government has made a deal with Sipah-e-Sahaba after seeing its growing clout in South Punjab. One well-known episode was recorded by jihadist newspaper Islam: “Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah visited Jhang and paid his respects at the tomb of the founder of the greatest banned sectarian-terrorist Deobandi organization, Sipah-e-Sahaba, Maulana Haq Nawaz Jhangvi. He led a delegation of the [Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz)] which also included parliamentary secretary Iftikhar Baloch and party M.P.A. from Jhang, Sheikh Yaqub. He also visited the tombs of other Sipah-e-Sahaba martyr-leaders like Maulana Isarul Qasimi and Allama Azam Tariq.”
Threatened communities have reacted predictably. Shia outfit Imamia Students Organization issued the following statement: “The planned release of terror kingpin Malik Ishaq who is also the co-founder of banned organization Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, with the blessing of Punjab government’s weak prosecution and the court’s blind decision is likely to fuel the ruthless killings of Shias across the country.” Sri Lanka, which hoped to get justice for the attack on its cricket team, and Iran, whose cultural consul Muhammad Ali Rahimi was allegedly killed by Ishaq in Multan in 1997, will also be offended. His release was badly timed. President Asif Ali Zardari’s paid a goodwill visit to Iran the same week.
When the Iranian consul in Lahore Sadeq Ganji was assassinated in 1990, the strong presence of Sipah-e-Sahaba in politics prevented the due process of law to unfold. At the Lahore High Court, where the killers faced trial, many judges retired or were elevated before the court was able to pass the obvious death sentence. Sahaba wanted to pay diyat or blood money for the killer it wanted spared, and even approached Iran in this respect. The power of apostatizing sectarian elements has redoubled in 2011 and “legal” political parties have to align with them to survive in certain regions. All it takes is a renaming of the banned organization.

Open Letter to Mr. Nawaz Sharif
Nawaz Shareef
Preseident PML(N)
Raiwind, Lahore, Pakistan
Dear Mr. Shareef
First of all please accept my congratulations on being elected as party president unopposed. This indicates the trust your workers have in your kindself. However
I want to inform you (although you must be aware of it) about the deep concerns of Oversees Pakistanis about the day by day growing relations of PMLN with notorious Terrorist Organizations like Taliban, Sipah e Sahaba and now Laskar e Jhangvi as well.
PMLN is one of the biggest political parties in Pakistan and we want to see it growing day by day through legal and democratic means.
For the last 1 year, there have been dramatic changes in your party’s policy about joining hands with the organisations, banned by previous Governments (including your own Government as well) due to their involvement in terrorism against the state and people.
Firstly there was a “Verbal Move” by your brother and CM Punjab saying “We and Taliban have the SAME goal” whilst every Pakistani knows Taliban are being funded by anti Pakistan powers to weaken Pakistan on one hand and blot the sacred name of Islam on the other hand by their Satanic activities.
Then PMLN drew a shameful agreement with Sipah e Sahaba in June 2008 bye elections while Mr. Shahbaz Shareef was to be elected “Unopposed” from PP 48, Darya Khan, Bhakkar. Molvi Abdul Hameed of Sipah e Sahaba with drew in his favour in exchange for an assurance for releasing all the mass killers and blood thirsty terrorists including Ghulam Rasool Shah and Malik Ishaq which by no chance could be released without the involvement of Government.
Thursday, July 14 was a “Black day” for each Pakistani when Malik Ishaq was released with 100s of bullets fired outside the Jail to give him a “Red Carpet Welcome” by the Punjab Government. All other terrorists had already been released as the government did not peruse their cases. Ishaq himself had acknowledged in Papers to kill more than 100 innocent Pakistanis in target killings, bomb blasts and attack in Mosques. He was also involved in killing of Iranian Diplomats and “Organized” an attack on Sri Lankan Cricket Team, certainly due to the facilities provided to him by the Punjab Government within the Jail. He further managed to kill 8 witnesses against him one by one while he was “under trial” in the so called “Courts” and on each killing, the government acted as a “Silent Spectator”.
The recent news is that your nephew Hamza Shahbaz is to contest from Jhang District, and Shahbaz Government as an exchange would facilitate the release of some more mass killers from the Jails by not persuing their cases and “Gifting” a seat in Senate to Molvi Ludhanvi who is the master mind of most terrorist activities being carried out in Pakistan.
Mr. Shareef!
While the “unchallenged” (rather state sponsored) terrorism is the biggest problem in Pakistan and the poverty strickenpeople are having blood baths every day, PLEASE do not leave the people on mercy of these blood thirsty terrorists.
PLEASE do not embrace these enemies of Islam, Pakistan and the people of Pakistan in an attempt to grab few votes.
PLEASE do not release any more terrorists; we cannot see the innocent blood running in the streets shed by your allies SSP, Taliban and Lashkar e Jhangvi.
The major support for PMLN comes from the business class which is most effected by the terrorism
I do hope Mr. Shareef, as a shroud politician, you would reconsider your party policy and adopt a rightful and democratic path instead of joining the terrorists and indulging into terrorism.
Fire is fire; it kills EVERY ONE
Yours sincerely

Bhakkar bombing
ANOTHER day, another district, another suicide bombing. The victims, however, are always new. Every suicide bombing tears a new hole in the social fabric of Pakistan and the Bhakkar attack is no different. The senseless death of at least 22 individuals and injury to over 60 at the hands of a religious zealot has been rightly condemned in the strongest terms. The truly frightening aspect of the recent spate of suicide attacks is that there is no end in sight. Indeed, the threat only seems to be growing from a toxic brew of militancy that encompasses everything from Al Qaeda and pan-Islamist ideologues to sectarian hatemongers.
The attack on Rashid Akbar Niwani, a PML-N MNA from Bhakkar, has the hallmarks of a sectarian strike. Mr Niwani belongs to a very influential Shia political family in the district. The district nazim of Bhakkar, Hameed Akbar Niwani, is Rashid Niwani`s elder brother. In June this year, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was elected unopposed from Bhakkar in a by-election for a seat vacated by a Niwani. In 2002, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain was elected as an MNA from Bhakkar with the Niwani family`s help. Bhakkar, however, has another, more dubious claim to fame it is a base of the Shia militant outfit Tehrik-i-Jafria. Set up in 1979 by Allama Arif Hussain Al Hussaini, a student of Ayatollah Khomeini, the Tehrik Nifaz-i-Fiqh-i-Jafria, as it was known then, developed a vicious rivalry with the Sunni militant group Sipah-i-Sahaba. The rivalry morphed into a bitter sectarian war between the Tehrik-i-Jafria and Sipah-i-Sahaba`s more radical offshoot, the Lashkar-i-Jhangvi. Over the years, Bhakkar has witnessed many targeted killings and sectarian attacks.
The first suicide bombing in Bhakkar has occurred in the wake of two sets of developments. First, Shia families fleeing the sectarian violence in D.I. Khan have begun to settle in Bhakkar, driving up property prices in the district. Second, the Lashkar-i-Jhangvi has grown more powerful in Punjab on the back of its links with Al Qaeda and is flexing its muscles all across Pakistan. Last month, NWFP Governor Owais Ghani warned of the dangers his province faced from suicide bombers with links to militant groups in southern Punjab. Irrespective of whether investigations reveal any link between the Laskhar-i-Jhangvi and Monday`s attack in Bhakkar, the fact is a dangerous foe is stalking Pakistan today. Militancy is neither confined to one particular group nor to one particular area of the country. It is everywhere and comes in every imaginable — and sometimes unimaginable — stripe. Caught in the militants` crosshairs, the ANP has belatedly woken up to the threat. “The time has come to clarify our national policy…. We are fighting for not only the survival of the Pakhtun nation but also of Pakistan,” an ANP leader told this paper. We could not agree more.

Bhakkar: Punjab government watches as terrorists patrol streets
Posted date: June 11, 2012 In: Punjab
Members of the banned extremist political organization Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan attacked Shiite and other local shops in Bhakkar, Punjab.
Furthermore, SSP members chanted anti-shiite slogans in an attempt to create discord amongst the peaceful Shiites and Sunnis of Bhakkar. Following this failed attempt, SSP terrorists were seen today, forcefully closing shops and chanting anti-shiite slogans while the Police and other Security forces watched from the sidelines. However when the terrorists attempt to enter the Shiite areas, Shiite men forced them to disperse.
Bhakkar is an area in Punjab and since Punjab is ruled by the Shareef brothers who are open friends with the head of SSP Ahmed Ludhyanwi, SSP’s terrorism is often seen in these areas.
Indeed it is daily news that extremists burn or discredit Shiite religious objects and the main reason for this is the friendly relations that the Punjab Government keeps with the SSP terrorists. The Chief Justice of Punjab is also often seen in SSP rallies alongside their leaders. Shahbaz Sharif once said in his speeches that the Taliban and the Punjab government have the same ideology and outlook. In a place where the government shakes hands with and has the same ideology as the Taliban, the attacks on peaceful citizens’ belongings and beliefs is a casual incident.
