…And so it rests: Memorial service of the memogate

The “Stupidisco” that Pakistan was converted into seems to be coming to rest. After Mansoor Ijaz’ refusal to come to Pakistan and demanding that this testimony be taken outside of Pakistan, the apex adjudicator, CJ Iftikhar Ahmed Chaudhry had no choice but to give two more months time for the Inquiry Commission to investigate and  adjourn the proceedings indefinitely!  Wah re wah Chief Sahab, we have been made a laughing stock in front of the world for something which was more fiction than fact.

Wah re wah Chief Sahab! Hang someone first and then adjourn the case!

On the other hand, our military is again doing its best to salvage some pride for itself. After the  US and Afghan government announced their intention to negotiate with the Taliban through their interlocutors in Doha and Riyadh respectively, Pakistan has again suggested that it be part of dialogue to make them more meaningful. Sirs, after all you have done in 2011 nee Raymond Davis, Osama Bin Ladin, NATO Supply stoppage and the post Salala attack response, rest assured that your incompetence and complicity is well proven now. Better to deal with a smart foe than to deal with ignorant pal, that’s what the Americans and Afghans must be thinking.

Kamran Khan and Ansar Abbasi led memorial services on Aaj Kamran Khan Kay Saath on 30th January, 2012

Similarly, the media can be seen biting dust. In yesterday’s Aaj Kamran Khan Kay Saath, it was like a memorial service participated by Kamran Khan and Ansar Abbasi. Both these gentlemen along with their colleagues Shaheen Sehbai and Mohammad Malick played a very dirty role in the matter that was termed as “Memogate”. The new spin these journalists are giving is that the government is not interested in finding out anything therefore this matter will eat dust now! Ansar Abbasi even said that if there is some agreement from the Military establishment on the memo case “tau iss say bara koi zulm nahee hoga!”. Brother Abbasi, all the military wanted was the replacement of Haqqani, as a bare minimum, and that is what it has got!

Even after this performance he hopes to get an extension!!!

Another interesting thing to be noted is that ISI backed journalists have begun canvassing for Ahmed Shuja Pasha’s extension, after he will finally retire in March. Again our dearest muslim brother, Ansar Abbasi, has filed a report (Jang, The News)  which indicates that the government will choose to negotiate with Pasha for an extension or for him to tone down his testimony!

After all, a case that had no merit is coming to rest. When it will be raised again, only God knows, but one thing is for sure: 32 days later when the new senate composition would have been known, no one will speak about early elections.
