Adil Gilani of Transparency International Pakistan condemns new contempt of court law

Editor’s Note: LUBP has previously published quite a few posts highlighting the dubious role of Adil Gillani and his fraudulent Transparency International, which is always there to promote agendas and discourse of the Military Establishment. Gilani’s current stance on the new contempt of court law passed by the elected parliament clearly shows he remains ‘Shah se barh k Shah ka wafadar’. LUBP condemns TIP’s dubious agendas in support of anti-democratic forces.

As expected, anti-democracy forces in Pakistan have activated Adil Gilani in order to condemn a law passed by Pakistani parliament which will save Pakistani democracy from the ISI-sponsored hostile judges.

Here’s the statement:

‘Transparency International Pakistan terms new contempt of court bill a bad law’

Karachi 10 July 2012 : The Chairman Transparency International Pakistan Sohail Muzaffar Advocate and the Trustees of TI-P , including Mr. Justice (Rtd) Dr Ghous Muhammad and Madam Justice (Rtd) Nasira Javed and former Chairman Syed Adil Gilani have condemned and declared that the new contempt of court law bill introduced in the National Assembly and passed by the MNA’s of the present regime, is a bad law, framed with mala fide intentions and ulterior motives and is a flagrant violation of the principle of equality under the Constitution of Pakistan Article 2 A, which guarantees “Wherein shall be guaranteed fundamental rights including equality of status, of opportunity and before law, social, economic and political justice, and freedom of thought, expression, belief, faith, worship and association, subject to law and public morality”. Under Article 2 A the principles and provisions set out in the Objectives Resolution reproduced in the Annex are made substantive part of the Constitution and shall have effect accordingly.

Through this press release they have appealed to the parliamentarians to condemn the passing of such black law , which violates Article 25 of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan as the said Article specifically declares that all citizens are equal before law and are entitled to equal protection of law.

Chairman TI Pakistan said that this bill is also against the national interest and seems to be mala fide, as one prime minister has already been convicted, and other ex-ministers are facing trial on the contempt of court charges. He also said that according to the Constitution, no law against the Islamic principles can be made and this has been described in preamble of the constitution as ” Wherein the principles of democracy, freedom, equality, tolerance and social justice, as enunciated by Islam, shall be fully observed;”

The law which has been framed is not for the protection of the Citizens of Pakistan , but aims to protect an individual and belittle the Judiciary.

The Chairman and Trustees of Transparency International-Pakistan has requested all patriotic Pakistanis to stand by the Judiciary and condemn the said black law which aims at destroying the independent Judiciary and in future all efforts should be made by all Pakistanis not to vote for so called politicians who are bent upon destroying the Nation as never in the history of Pakistan even the Military Government has made any such attempt to side line judiciary.
