Rehman Malik must resign
It is now abundantly clearly that the PPP government’s Interior Minister Rehman Malik has failed to protect innocent Pakistani citizens, particularly ethnic and sect-based target killing in Karachi, Baloch massacre in Balochistan, Pashtun massacre in FATA and Khyper Pakhtunkhwa, and genocide of Shia Muslims across Pakistan particularly in Quetta, Gilgit Baltistan, Parachinar, Karach, D.I.Khan and other areas.
Furthermore, a large number of PPP loyalists, workers and office bearers have been target killed in Lyari and other parts of Karachi in a lopsided security operation.
Due to Rehman Malik’s incompetence or perhaps complicity with the Deep State and its non-state proxies, Shias, Pashtuns, Balochs and other groups continue to be target killed and/or persecuted in Pakistan.
By virtue of his incessant trail of false promises and lofty claims, lack of action against banned terrorist organizations particularly Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan (new name Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat) and the systematic and ongoing massacres of Shias, Balochs and other groups, Malik is hugely denting the credibility and future electability of the Pakistan Peoples Party.
Here is a video clip of a recent demonstration in Skardu (Gilgi Baltistan) against Rehman Malik and PPP’s Chief Minister because both of them have failed to protect innocent Shia Muslims of that area from Jihadi-sectarian militants of the ASWJ-SSP.
If such trend continues in the future, the PPP may lose quite a few of its supporters.
In the good of not only Pakistan but also PPP, Rehman Malik must resign and be replaced by a competent, able and a loyal to people (not loyal to the ISI) Interior Minister.
Looking at the poll on LUBP (a pro-PPP blog), I can see that at least 68% of pro-PPP activists consider Rehman Malik a liability to the party.
Party should take swift action before we hear chants against Zardari and Bilawal in streets of Gilgit, Karachi and Quetta.
Very powerful chants against Senator Rehman Malik and I can understand the anger and frustration of these people.
What has PPP or Rehman Malik done to protect them? or arrest their killers?
Mehdi Shah and peace cannot go together

The artificial stand off between ASWJ-SSP militants and peaceful Shia protesters was organized by none else than Rehman Malik.
Under instructions from the ISI, Rehman Malik wants to misrepresent Shia massacres in Pakistan, Chilas in particular, as an instance of Sunni-Shia sectarian violence.
…….
The warring groups in Gilgit-Balitstan came close to clash at D-Chowk here on Monday mainly because of police failure to foresee the outcome of allowing them to stand eyeball to eyeball.
The activists and supporters of Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen (MWM) and other parties representing the Shia community have established a protest camp at the Parade Avenue against the killing of innocent civilians in Chilas and other parts of Gilgit-Baltistan.
On the other hand, a protest rally was organised by Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASJ) against the killing of their party workers in the Gilgit city.
The rally starting from Rehmania mosque in Blue Area was originally scheduled to terminate at China Chowk but on the insistence of the participants police allowed them to move up to the traffic signal at D-Chowk, just metres shorts of the MWM camp.
Soon after the rally reached the traffic signal, fiery speeches started from both sides with speakers blaming the other party for committing atrocities against people of their side. But the ground conditions started to go wrong when the speakers from the two sides started using loudspeakers to highlight their cause.
The ASJ rally speakers demanded the authorities to clear the MWM camp from D-Chowk and threatened to hold a massive rally at Jinnah Avenue and also block the Karakoram Highway. They also demanded that Gilgit-Baltistan be made part of Azad Kashmir.
On the other side of the road, the speakers continued to present various accounts of the killings and atrocities against the local population without naming any group or party while police contingent maintained a dividing wall between the two groups.
However, the situation turned ugly when youth from both the sides started chanting slogans against each other.
But before the supporters could come closer to each other, Allama Amin Shaheedi of MWM and Mufti Tanvir Alam of ASJ directed their sides to turn back.
Later, the MWM leadership rejected the request of the city administration and police to wind up their protest camp and not to go ahead with the already announced Friday prayers at the D-Chowk on April 13. Another meeting between the two is scheduled on Tuesday (today).

From Dawn:
The time is for action. The first priority of the state must be to restore law and order, while the second must be to end the blockade and lift the curfew so that Gilgit-Baltistan’s link with the rest of Pakistan is restored. In the longer term, the state must employ result-oriented methods of conflict resolution while it must work on developing land routes that can be used as alternatives if the volatile Kohistan-Chilas corridor is blocked. And the alien sectarian elements that have struck roots in the region need to be monitored and must face the law if they continue to fan communal tensions.
We see a disturbing pattern developing, as Parachinar is also often blocked off from the rest of Pakistan; the Thall-Parachinar Road, the only viable artery connecting Kurram Agency with the rest of the country, is often targeted by Taliban militants, closing it for months on end. Gilgit-Baltistan should not be another Parachinar in the making.
Will Rehman Malik listen to the party’s chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari:
“We condemn equally the butchery of our Shia brothers in Gilgit, the murder of our people of different ethnicities in Karachi, the killings of our fellow Pakistanis in Balochistan and the persecutions of Christians, Hindus and other Pakistani minorities,” he added. He said, “We demand justice for all victims.”

I certainly can certify that Rehman Malik has gone too far with his incompetence and ignorance of national internal affairs. I also blame Zardari Sb to some extent for keeping this thug on the loose for such a long time. I can not stand these incidents where Shia community, my own community has been put to genocide with no reprive from the government of my beloved PPP party. I am sadden and may have used harsh words but believe me with such interier minister we dont need talabans to kill the people of shia community. I want to ask where is government and how come it is not heeding to the what our lovely Bilawal is saying. He is more informed than Rehman Malik and showing more compession and grit in these testing time for us than these new day followers like Rehman Malik. I also think Gilani is to blame as well for this situation and I am totally at loss of words to describe collective ignorance and inaction on the part of PPP government. I have wasted all my life and now my old age to support these goons on every internet forum as well as community…what for I ask myself. Alas this is the price we Shia are paying for support PPP government. Think for a moment if Benazir had been alive…would she have sit idle and do nothing???I dont think so. I am not a faith guy but I had faith in liberty, secularism and justice which PPP always stood for. I have no more words to utter on this subject now..I am disappointed with Zardari and his goons.
But we should admire Rehman Malik that how swift he was in giving statement in favour of HAFIZ SAEED….Malik he is a ISI puppet….his appointment was approved by SAUDI ARABIA..so how ZARDARI Sahib can remove him….

I don’t think Rehman Malik has any control over on any security issues. He making tripe/silly statements that won’t put him in confrontation with establishment (and he doesn’t bother what others make out of it).

Malik for amending anti-terror law to curb terrorist bailouts
* Interior minister urges clerics to play role for reconciliation among people
ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Monday urged parliament to adopt an amendment in anti-terror law to remove loopholes for closing door to terrorist’ bailout.
Addressing a joint parliamentary sitting on killings of people from the Shia community, the minister said parliament needed to pass an amendment in the Pakistan Penal Code as currently no law existed to bring terrorists to justice. He said the criminals were easily bailed out after being apprehended by the law enforcement agencies, adding that in an instance, a man was bailed out 34 times. He said, “Let me brief the House as how foreign powers are involved in marring law and order situation of the country and how they are creating hostility.” Malik termed Chilas tragedy as an “incident of terrorism, not sectarianism”. Malik said his remarks on witnessing Gilgit-based people in Quetta and Karachi proved true after the Kohistan incident in which 18 passengers from the Shia community were killed.
He said FC and Gilgit Scouts had almost complete control over law and order. He hoped that the situation would improve within three to four days.
He urged clerics from both the Sunni and Shia communities to play their role for reconciliation among people, else there would be no other option but an operation.
He said the clash erupted after the people from Shia community replaced their vehicles’ registration numbers with `5′ depicting `Panjtan’ and Sunnis with `4′ representing the four caliphs.
The interior minister said he would go to Gilgit along with a group of clerics so that they may set some rules for co-existence because there were flaws in laws.
Malik said the people boldly attacked their adversaries knowing that they would easily get bail, adding that amendment to existing laws was inevitable. He also advised the religious leaders to forge unity as they had done in Swat and Malakand, even by issuing decrees against extremism and militancy. He recalled that the Wafaqul Madaris had agreed to formulate a syllabus for all seminaries that would help in curbing sectarianism in society. He also reiterated his demand for an in-camera session to brief parliamentarians about hidden forces poised to destabilise the country.

PPP workers are getting killed on daily basis in Karachi. One of our PSF colleagues was target killed a week ago, but does it even matter to PPP leadership if its workers get killed?
These PPP workers sacrifice their lives for PPP and in return, their killer get ministries in the Sindh government. Shame on PPP.
PPP provides full security to Bilawal, just because he’s son of President Zardari, but if a PPP worker gets killed, they don’t even bother to attend his funeral.

As far as Rehman Malik is concerned, this “MQM” interior minister is incompetent and should be replaced ASAP. We had a good interior minister in BB’s second tenure, General Naseerullah Babar. We need a brave interior minister like him. Not like cowards like Rehman Malik.
