Communist Mazdoor Kissan Party (CMKP) to announce new constitution
LAHORE: The Communist Mazdoor Kissan Party (CMKP) has announced that it will soon introduce a new constitution for the party along the basic principles of Marxism, CMKP Additional Secretary Irfan Ali said on Monday.
He said the CMKP were working on the draft of a new constitution for the party and hoped that it would be introduced in the national congress by May of this year, and passed unanimously.
CMKP was divided into two sections four months ago when some of its members separated from the main party. One of the factions merged with a newly emerged leftist party named Pakistan Workers Party headed by Abid Hasan Minto while the other faction led by Taimur Rehman continued functioning under the original name.
“We do not agree with the ideology of those who think that a real revolution can only come by presenting a softer image of Marxism,” Ali said.
He also told Daily Times that the party would arrange a huge rally on the International Labour Day on May 1. hussain kashif (Daily Times)

I have utmost respect for CMKP. They have mostly sided with the genuine left issues with good political understanding (except for the CJ’s reinstatement, though they have now realized what farce movement that was), unlike the rest of the so called left(read Tariq Ali, Mubasher Hassan etc) which is always eager to stand shoulder to shoulder with extreme right wing to take a jab at PPP. I think one of their disagreement with the Pakistan Workers Party was also on the issue of PWP having no hesitation in standing with right wing. Although being truly Marxist, hence against the bourgeois PPP, Taimur had the political wisdom to campaign for PPP candidates.
