Ahmadis brace for violence, trampling of rights in Rawalpindi – by Imran Jattala
Editor’s note: LUBP urgently requests its readers to highlight the precarious situation of Ahmadi Muslims in the garrison city of Rawalpindi (Punjab). The bigotry that is consuming our society and placing Ahmadis, Christains and Shias in the firing line of Jihadis is a DIRECT result of the military establishment’s support for radical militant groups. These groups are supported because of the establishment’s obsession with India and strategic depth obsession with Afghanistan; obsessions that have no merit but have invited death and destruction to the region. The Ahmadiyya Muslim community is under siege in Rawalpindi, and militants promise to create chaos in the name of religion.
According to Al-Ufaq, a news website, the Satellite Town area of Rawalpindi city, adjacent to the Pakistani capital Islamabad, is now a scene of countless banners and posters containing hate content and threats against Ahmadi Muslims.
The hate climate has been amplified by a recent call for unrest against Ahmadi Muslims by the banned militant organization, JuD, a group that has been named in several terrorists attacks in and outside of Pakistan.
The Ahmadiyya community says their centre in Satellite Town, Rawalpindi has been the target of extremists’ hate and the militants have now declared an all out war against Ahmadis’ right to worship there.
The countless anti-Ahmadiyya banners hang high throughout the satellite town and the surrounding areas are striking fear in the hearts of the besieged community, say the Ahmadi members.
The extremist groups, namely JuD and Khatam-e Nubuwwat have planned a massive rally against Ahmadi Muslims on Sunday, January 29th.
“The poster plastered around Rawalpindi [are] instigating hatred,” said a twitter post by the community representative in Pakistan.
“The rally is supported by JuD, not a pleasant combination,” the statement further stated.
The fanatics have continuously waged a violent war against Ahmadi Muslims to practically deny them the right to practice their faith, many rights organizations and media outlets have noted over the years.
The Ahmadi Muslims say they follow Islam in its purest form which was practiced the Holy Founder of Islam, the Prophet Mohammad (peace and blessings of Allah be on him).
The Ahmadiyya Muslims also points to the country’s founding father, Mohammad Ali Jinnah who had envisioned equal rights for all citizens to worship as they see fit.
“Every Ahmadi has a right to perform religious duties, given by Mr. Jinnah in [his] 11 August speech. Why it’s not [OK] for Ahmadis?” asked the Ahmadiyya community representative.
The poster and banners, inciting hate against Ahmadis are seen throughout the Satellite Town and the surrounding areas and many show the instigators have proudly added their names on the banners.
A large poster sponsored by one Arshad Mahmood Awaan and one Sardar Touqeer Hussain is seen hung at Boher Bazar road, calling for the businessmen of the area to join the messive anti-Ahmadiyya relly.
Another banner, sponsered by one Sharjeel Mir and one Sheikh Arsalan Hafiz invites the entire city of Rawalpindi to attend the rally.
Yet another banner placed by one Hafiz Mohammad Shafiq of Wahabi group beseeches the entire Muslim nation to show up for the event.
“[How can] you still expect someone to protect Ahmadis of Satellite Town?,” the Ahmadiyya representative asks highlighting one hate-banner hanging right next to the Banni Thana police station.
Ahmadis do not expect much in terms of morality from the extremist clerics, they say, but “How is this even legal?”, they do ask.
The Difa-e-Pakistan and the Khatm-e-Nabuwat Conferences are paving way for persecution and murder of more Ahmadis.
Who is enabling it? Jihadist army!
Seems, the so called protectors of Pakistan “Army/ISI” will eventually break Pakistan into pieces.
we are living in dark ages where Mullah rules…
Yes, use sectarianism and religious only when it suits your agenda. Spreading hatred between sunnis and shias to help PPP, call Mansur Ejaz a heretic Qadiani hence unreliable. But now play all goodie two shoes and become a bleeding heart for the persecution of Qadianis.
BTW, Bhutto Sb. declared them non-Muslim and I have yet to meet a single Qadiani who said anything good about him and PPP.
yeh bht acha kam kr rhe hain qadiani hain he aisi
Hafiz Saeed’s dollar jihad in Kashmir is over. Now he has turned inwards. These army sponsored terrorists have destroyed pakistan. And we will never be able to get rid of this fascist army.
@Oh Bhains
Only the self righteous middle class doesn’t know about Sunni Shia conflict. Unlike the Imran lovers, everyone knows that Deobandi-Wahabi Taliban and other terrorist groups consider Shia as heretics. Thousands have been killed by Taliban aka Imran’s pustoon nationalist. Come out of the lame Two nation theory of the Punjab textbook board books. World is much more complicated than that.
If LUBP played the Qadiyani card, then it’s shameful and condemnable.
Bhutto was wrong in declaring Ahmadis non-Muslims. But the hate campaign launched by mullahs made him do this. It was wrong nonetheless
All Pakistan Khatam-e-Nabuwat Conference is demanding removal of Ahmedi’s working in civil services and armed forces.

@Faraz
LUBP’s clear and bold stance on Ahmadi Muslims is for all to see. Please don’t be influenced by liars’ propaganda.

@Faraz,
If you want to know the truth about the reputation of PPP amongst Qadianis than ask a Qadiani.
There is always an excuse for every tragedy in history. Bhutto declared them heretics and now let’s not be apologetic about it.
Nishapuri,
You can’t fool people with your hoopla and crocodile tears. Your heart bleeds for Baloch, Ahmedis, Hazara etc, that’s nice and dandy but you are forgetting that this is all happening in PPP’s government. If they are ever so concerned about these issues than come out in the open and protect these minorities. But offcourse their “kursi” is more dearer to them than raising voice for the oppressed. Meanwhile, their sycophant propagandists continue with pathetic attempts of fooling people on the internet i.e. LUBP
@Oh Bhains
Qadiani is a derogatory term for Ahmadis used by sectarian bigots. Please don’t use this term on this website. Thank you.
We have criticized PPP government on several occasions particularly on its failure to protect the target killed and persecuted groups. http://criticalppp.com/archives/tag/criticism-of-ppp
Abdul Nishapuri @ Love you…..you are true human and true Muslim….this is what i can say about you…we are human first then came religion which is purely a personal affair and every one have right to adapt what ever path he or she may like…

The poison of ignorance and extremism that Bhutto and General Zia jointly fathered during their dictatorial regimes has fully indoctrinated even those who otherwise describe themselves as educated.
This week the Large Hadron Collider at the CERN inched closer to the discovery of Higgs Boson or the God Particle as it were. In this extraordinary story of human achievement, Dr. Abdus Salam is a key player who put Pakistan on the map of theoretical physics. In his homeland though, a group of self-styled champions of Islam have started a posthumous campaign of scurrilous slander claiming that Dr. Salam was giving out nuclear secrets. Forget that even a confirmed bigot like General Zia held a ceremony in our only nobel prize winner’s honour or that no one ever accused Dr. Salam of any such thing; in Pakistan to be a hero you have to actually transfer technology to Iran, Libya and North Korea.
Now consider the case of 11 year old Sitara Akbar. Every Pakistani and his mother in law are citing her as a crowning national achievement, blissfully oblivious of the fact that she is an Ahmadi. To them her religion is suddenly unimportant or irrelevant or is it? How many Sitara Akbars have been expelled from our schools for being Ahmadi? How many productive citizens of this republic have been killed and maimed for believing differently?
Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s National Assembly imagined itself the Islamic equivalent of the Council of Nicea. Just as that ancient bastion of Christian orthodoxy excommunicated unitarian Christians for not believing in the trinity of the father, son and the holy ghost, the National Assembly saw it fit to – primarily at the instigation of the Prime Minister and his law minister- declare an entire sect non-Muslim. Just like the post hoc elevation of the principle of trinity at Nicea, Pakistan’s National Assembly located Islam in the principle of the finality of Prophethood.
This act of our sovereign legislature stood in sharp contrast to the view of this nation’s founding father. On 5 May, 1944, in response to demands of the orthodox vis a vis Ahmadis, Jinnah made it absolutely clear that anyone who professes to be a Muslim is a Muslim and welcome in the Muslim League and that those who were raising the issue were trying to divide the Muslims. Here I am forced to say that I am inclined to accept Jinnah’s view and reject the collective wisdom of our sovereign legislature. There are several reasons which may be cited in this regard:
First and foremost Pakistan is bound by the United Nations’ charter. Therefore Pakistan is bound to ensure freedom of religion for all its citizens and freedom of religion means freedom of religion according to the definition of the subject of the said freedom.
Identity is subjective not objective. The state of Pakistan or any other state cannot tell an Ahmadi that he is not a Muslim because it is intrinsic to the faith of an Ahmadi. This is an inviolable, inalienable right as part of right to life which every state in the world is bound to protect. If Ahmadis say they are Muslims they ought to be accepted as such.
Pakistan is a signatory to the ICCPR and without reservations since June 2011. Therefore every piece of legislation that discriminates against Ahmadis or forces a label upon them is ultra vires the ICCPR.
The Islamic argument: According to the Holy Prophet (PBUH) anyone who utters the Kalima Shahadah is a Muslim. None of the Kalimas, including the Primary Kalima Shahadah contains any reference to the principle of the finality of Prophethood as understood by the Muslim majority today.
Finally because by conduct and promise, Pakistani state is estopped from claiming otherwise. In 1947, Pakistan laid claim to Qadian as a Muslim holy place, a counter-blast to Sikh claims on Nankana Sahib and Hassan Abdal. Similarly in 1946 elections which is the basic referendum on the question of Pakistan, Ahmadi votes were instrumental in getting Muslims Pakistan. These are undeniable facts of history.
Therefore- fully aware of the stigma attached to this statement- I concur with Quaid-e-Azam Mahomed Ali Jinnah, thefounding father of Pakistan that Ahmadis are Muslims, if they say they are Muslims and no one, not even the sovereign legislature, has the right to say otherwise.
Nishapuri,
Thank you for the info. FYI, Qadiani is not a derogatory term for Qadianis, I know because I have friends who are Qadiani, they take pride in that, Qadian being a birthplace of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani.
I ask you again to get a famous Qadiani/Ahmadi personality to write an op-ed for your website?
Let’s see if you can.
its commendable that LUBP has taken a bold stance against religious extremism and are highlighting the plight of Ahmedis in the pakistan.
@Oh Bhains,
i too know many Ahmedis and i have to agree with abdul that they dont call themselves Qadiani . instead, they call themselves as Ahmedi Muslim.
Mansooor Ijaz is a sample copy to know Qadianies Hate against Islam, Muslims & Pakistanis
@Kashif Naseer:
Mansoor Ijaz is a US citizen and not Pakistani then how is he relevant to Pakistan? However he is a favourite of right wing religiously inclined Nawaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff, DG ISI and Chief Justice of Pakistan who are all Sunnis. There are more Sunnis involved in this so more Sunnis hate Islam, Muslims and Pakistan by your standards.
What about your Deobandi Taliban who have killed numerous Pakistanis and Muslims? If by one example you can tarnish the whole sect then certainly Deobnandis are the worst enemies of Islam, Muslims and Pakistanis with numerous examples of death and destruction in their name. I have not even gone back to discuss how Mufti Mehmood called Pakistan a sin and was proud that he was not part of it. Mufti Mehmood was certainly hateful towards Pakistan and since he was the chief of his religious clan, it means all of his Deobandi followers share his hateful beliefs towards Pakistan.
@Kashif Naseer:
While you are at it also check how hypocrite you Deobandis are when it comes to the very basics of your beliefs and how your own founder was a non-Muslim kafir according to your beliefs.

People don’t understand that these mullahs want to keep them away from big issue of inflation and want Pakistan to be in deep dig. They even want to make more worsen the situation of this country. It is the decision that people should take that what make our country stronger. Will anybody come to invest here in Pakistan in 70′s many president would come and attended O.I.C conference but today no one come. No cricket team has been visited Pakistan since a long period of time, no president has been come to visit Pakistan.
That’s why Pakistani should not allow these mullah and if government involved, not to registering it, STOP it. This country is made for every one but unfortunately politician made it their own property and use these matter to gain VOTE, and also to refrain people that they can raise other important issues.
Events happen against minorities including shias with full support of Pakistani Government and Arm forces, if not then why media is silent, everyone is just avoiding it. It is just because they hate and want them to kill.
Nishapuri,
How do you feel now that your blue eyed butt boy “Kashif Naseer” exposed the reality of this website?
Keep playing the double game to suit your agenda and by the way I agree that you should get a Ahmadi to write and Op-ed for LUBP, that will help you build your case.
