Shamsul Anwar’s fraudulent story has a few lessons for us

Javid Naseer Rind, another Baloch journalist kidnapped and silenced by the Deep State
In the last two days, Pakistan’s liberal elites and rights activists on social media (Twitter in particular) were seen extremely worried about the daughter of an ex-army soldier Shamsul Anwar, a resident of Rawalpindi. He had a great story to tell us all that what he did for the nation and what is being done with him. Well, this is a HEART BREAKING NEWS that: Shamsul Anwar is a BIG FRAUD.
His daughter (Madina Anwar) was NOT AT ALL KIDNAPPED but left home on her own. She got married and was living not very far from her parents house, this was disclosed by the DSP in a press conference today.
While we really appreciate all those who after reading his story tried to help him, a few things are worth noting:
- The quality of reporting in Pakistan’s English media is as poor as it is in Urdu press. The story was published in one of Pakistan’s most circulated English newspapers, The News (of the Jang Group), filed by Shakeel Anjum (who is known for dubious journalism not unlike Ejaz Haider and Ansar Abbasi). It is the same newspaper which is supervised by Najam Sethi who is a political advisor to the Owner-Chief Editor.
- The same story was uncritically published by other English newspapers e.g., Pakistan Today and Express Tribune etc in a copycat manner.
- Pakistan’s urban elites on Twitter used this story to further furnish and promote their (shallow) philanthropic credentials while conveniently ignoring the fact that MOST of them routinely ignore, deny or obfuscate authentic stories of the Baloch, Pashtun and Shia target killings by army and its Jihadi-sectarian proxies. For example, none of them campaigned for the safe release of Javid Naseer Rind, a Baloch journalist kidnapped and subsequently killed by the ISI.
- The episode effectively exposes and undermines the urban legend that Pakistan’s English press is more progressive and responsible than the Urdu press. Both are two sides of the same coin. Similarly, “liberal” bloggers such as Dr. Awab (Teeth Maestro) and “conservative” bloggers such as Dr. Aisha Aijaz (My Bit for Change) seemed to converge on this issue (not unlike their converged silence on target killings of Balochs, Pashtuns and Shias by Pakistan army and proxies) thus demonstrating the falsehood of the liberal-conservative binary.
- In a nutshell, the entire episode has re-exposed the uncritical nature (sheep character) and selective morality of Pakistan’s urban elites.
Here is a comment by Sherish who is a writer at Tribune:
“I also did a story on him last year and supported him a lot. Every day he used to come to my office with new story, and sometimes he used to come with his wife and children and i never sent him back empty hand..i also collected money to get food items for him….i never shared this with anyone but now this man made me to disclose all this…..as he instead of being thankful to me tried to defame me….He also approached me to do a story on his daughter but i refused. This person has really made me to stop helping needy people through writing.”
Another relevant comment:
“He sold her daughter last year to a tribe in Peshawar, they took her away. he talked to them to send her back and he will pay them but they said okay pay us, he raised money via this drama and then achanak hee hype mach gai, the whole social media knew about it and ansaar bruney got involved, and then today they got to know its a drama. police arrested him and they went to Peshawar for negotiation and a jirga took place and they said to marry the girl and send her back with her husband, she was married and sent back now police will be looking to help get the money back to donors.”
It’s a moment to cry perhaps, but more importantly to critically reflect! We were so worried then got happy but what that man, the media and so called activists have done to the whole nation is clearly disappointing and disturbing.
This was a shameful act by that man, he wasted our trust. However, our trust was also hurt by the selective morality of those who showed hyper-activity to help an ex-soldier, a resident of Rawalpindi, the very people who fail to show similar concern about hundreds of Balochs, Pashtuns and Shias who are routinely kidnapped or/and killed by the Deep State and its various proxies and agencies. (Adapted from beats24x7)
The social media has been flooded with SOS calls for the release of 14-year-old Madina Anwar, who is in the custody of abductors since May 17, 2011.
Social and human rights activists from all over the world are constantly appealing to the country’s leadership to help the poor family, but neither the president or prime minister nor any other senior government official has so far offered the poor family any support, Pakistan Today learnt on Tuesday.
Talking to Pakistan Today, father of Manida Anwar, Shamsul Anwar, revealed that he did not receive a single phone call from government high ups.
Meanwhile, social media users are raising numerous questions that raise questions about the government’s tall claims of good governance.
Twitter’s never ending timeline shows: “The police wouldn’t help Shamsul Anwar. Why would they? Aren’t they all involved? #unfairworld #JusticeForShamsulAnwar #truestory,” “NRO, verdict, Supreme Court, Chief Justice, bla bla bla…. everything looks so small. Bigger challenge is… #JusticeForShamsulAnwar,” “Had Shamsul Anwar been a high rank officer in the #army, would things be different for him? #unfairworld #PakArmy #JusticeForShamsulAnwar,” “Can’t stop thinking about Madina Anwer. She is a year older to my own daughter. Come home soon darling your pa waits #JusticeForShamsulAnwar,” “I read the whole story and I am willing to donate $1000 #JusticeForShamsulAnwar,” “@AnsarBurney thank u sir as always u stepped in on time hope #JusticeForShamsulAnwar is achieved & his daughter is home ASAP stay blessed,” “@marvisirmed: Good progress #JusticeForShamsulAnwar. Political, military authorities on board. V r now waiting 4 abductors’ call @AnsarBurney,” “7- Influential anchors, I beg you to kindly kindly kindly reach out to authorities on your own. Put pressure, Please #JusticeForShamsulAnwar,” and it goes on and on.
What is Madina Anwar’s fault?
Madina Anwar’s only fault is that she is a daughter of a retired military lance naik, Shamsul Anwar, who saved the lives of hundreds of worshippers by risking his own life.

HELP Shamsul Anwar save the life of his 14-year old girl kidnapped by Terrorists
Posted by Teeth MaestroJanuary 10, 2012
UPDATE 3: Great News – SHO Westridge CONFIRMS Madina Anwar has been recovered safely – WOW thank you everyone for this great news, a genuine shot out to everyone who played their part, we have together literally made a difference
UPDATE 2: We have been assured that Ansar Burney & the concerned authorities are fully managing the case – the necessary support is fully available and there is NO NEED to donate at this point. Inshallah AFTER the girl is released we will together help raise funds for entire FAMILY but at the moment choose not to aggravate a difficult situation. The family at the moment only needs your prayers for the safe return of Madina Anwar
UPDATE 1: After the flurry of updates across the web regarding fund raising for Shamsul Anwar’s daughter, we also did push for fund raising to help generate the ransom Rs. 1.8 Million, it has been suggested that under the guidance of many important citizen activists they together will positively fulfill the need for any ransom demand as the negotiations mature. We also do not want to set this as an online precedence for future kidnapping for ransom issues by opening the flood gates for other terrorists opportunists. Despite all our genuine concern for helping this family, please refrain from sending donations, but do not let go on the pressure on the Government of Pakistan to help secure the release of Mahina Anwar, as of now please DO NOT send money into the account numbers that were shared before
Today I am shocked at reading an article in The News titled Waiting to receive pieces of daughter’s dead body which narrates a shocking story of a Pakistan Army Lance Naik (r) Shamsul Anwar who is pleading for authorities to help save the life of his 14-year old daughter Madina Anwar, who was kidnapped in May 2011 and the captors have given him till the 12th of January to come forward with the ransom money of Rs. 1.8 Million.
Lets help save Shamsul Anwar’s family
LOBBY: To help Shamsul Anwar please raise as much awareness as possible, suggest
WRITE TO AVAAZ: Write to Avaaz telling them to take this issue global – by literally copy pasting the text below Contact Avaaz
UGET GOVT OF PAKISTAN INVOLVED: Write to ALL government leaders in Pakistan
DONATE: A WORD OF CAUTION – Please hold back any planned account transactions, a group of citizens are setting up an escrow account to ensure the funds are judiciously transfered to the rightful people, more update as things materialize. People are working to responsibly handle this crisis ensuring the safety of the girl etc – just hold back for any details in the morning
This tragic kidnapping story comes in the shadow of two sons who were previously kidnapped in 2006 – Mohammad Yaseen, 16, a student of 10th class, and Faizullah, 14, a 9th class student of Noor School in Dhoke Gujran — on May 15, 2006. The ransom for the release of both his sons were slated at Rs. 1.4 Million but Mohammed Yaseen was later found mercilessly killed chopped up into pieces on a wood-cutting saw, the entire video recorded on a CD and placed along with his remains in a gunny bag. Fortunately for Shamsul Anwar he did recover his younger son but due to the medicines injected into his body during captivity, is suffering from blood cancer
The story of the should have been highly acclaimed hero, Shamsul Anwar starts in January 2001 where he single handedly save the lives of hundreds of people from a terrorist bomb in Rawalpindi
“It was 1st of January, 2001 when I entered the Jamia Masjid of Dhoke Gujran at Misrial Road, Rawalpindi, at about 2:10 p.m. when the ‘imam’ was reciting ‘khutba’ and I was late. I rushed to the basement of the mosque to perform ablution (‘wazu’) where I saw a man who was planting some explosives packed in a steel box and he was busy in plugging wires into the detonation device. As I was an army personnel and had been serving with bomb disposal unit, I sensed the danger. I clutched the ‘terrorist’ from the back without asking any question or giving him any warning as he had plugged one wire into the device and remaining three were in his hands and he was about to put it into the detonator. I started shouting for help but nobody listened to my cries as the ‘khutba’ was being recited on the loudspeaker. In the meantime, the terrorist, carrying a gun, asked me to leave him otherwise he would shoot me but I refused to free him and entangled my left leg in between his two legs as he could not somersault me. After he observed that I was not going to release him, he started firing aiming at my leg and emptied his revolver. I sustained three bullets in my left leg and remaining three missed.
“Meanwhile, some worshippers gathered there and grabbed him as I told people that his revolver was empty. The terrorist warned me that he would teach me a lesson and make me an example. I was shifted to the CMH and the ‘terrorist’ was taken to an undisclosed place by the agencies. As many as 17 terrorists of the outfit were arrested on information provided by the nabbed ‘terrorist’. I remained under treatment for about a month and sent home with a team of security personnel of the army commanded by a JCO. The security personnel remained with me for about a year and protected my family and me stringently. Finally, the security was withdrawn.
This hero who must have saved the lives of hundreds of people in 2001 is now being made to suffer brutally… is this how we treat our heroes in Pakistan. Lets not let Shamsul Anwar down, lets put pressure on everyone to help this national hero. Pakistan must not go silent

What a royal disappointment!
Dear Awab, Aisha and Marvi, will you now please sue The News?
Cant believe the twist you PPP goons can give to a story. I bet more than half of you yesterday would have been with this story especially considering the fact that Shamsul allegedly saved lives by overcoming a potential terrorist – an agent of the Deep State – as you would call him. I bet Shamsul would have been a hero in your eyes at this time yesterday and I bet some of you would have contributed financially if not morally. I bet you would have been calling the murder of his son a big qurbani in the war against terror. If Shamsul didnt come out to be a fraud, I bet today you would have been applauding at least Marvi – surely not the others – on a job well done.
But then why am I not surprised? I have got so used to you hypocrites that no amount of story spinning amazes me now.
For God sake, why do you have to pick negativity out of everything, why cant you take something on its face value for once, why do you have to doubt someones sincerity all the time. If you cant do good yourself at least dont ridicule others who do.
@Yasin
What are you trying to prove with these tweets?
Looks like My Bit for Change has bit you hard!
While the whole hoax is sad & heart wrenching, the author of this article is in the wrong in saying that those on twitter only came forward to help because it was a person from pindi. The author is being as irresponsible as those who originally published the news. I’ve seen Pakistanis on twitter coming out to help people from all over. A little search will show you the same.
Kindly refrain from spreading false pretexes.
This was also published by the very “authentic” for you , The Express Tribune under http://tribune.com.pk/story/97204/forgotten-hero-the-cost-of-being-heroic/
so stop blaming those whom you don’t like and call “liberal” and “conservative” This case depicts our social behavior in truly awesome manner. We don’t investigate enough and then we don’t accept if we our at fault and start blaming others.
and btw , Express Tribune was the first to Call Him HERO.
Shamsul Anwar, a fraud or a true story ? I guess we should not get into blame-games.
All who have been raising their voices to support shams ul anwar on social media and some even changed their display names after him. Now its again our responsibility to investigate the true story and bring forward the truth.
Someone needs to question the Father who is in Police custody & also question The News reporter “Shakeel Anjum” who wrote the detailed article in the first place > To figure out both ends to the chain link- so as who is to blame? Bottom line is we all must push for a detailed investigation
We all may have been emotionally hurt, but take solace in the fact that we stood together and we rallied like brave soldiers for a good cause, lets NOT give up hope in our power to bring about a positive change.
What else did you expect from pretentious liberals on twitter and second hand journalism. I guess people had forgotten the Sialkot incident and the numerous versions of it reported by media. Till now nobody know the truth.
Seems like everybody has been caught with their pants down and now they’ll try everything to cover themselves up.
And this also says a lot about the fifth pillar of the state and its “mission” to expedite the [manipulated] truth to all and sundry.
P.S: Shamsul Anwar heart-jolting stories can be of good use to lollywood.
But what about his son; was he really murdered? And did he prevent terrorist from blowing up a mosque?
Police arrest ‘ransom money’ scammer
IMRAN ADNAN
LAHORE – A fraud scheme to collect funds using conventional media and social networks ostensibly for ‘ransom money’ came to an end on Wednesday when Rawalpindi Police, responding to news reports, investigated the matter and registered a case against Shamsul Anwar, the father of a so-called unfortunate girl named Madina Anwar, who was reportedly ‘kidnapped for ransom’ by a terrorist outfit. Nasirabad Police Chowki Supervisor and Investigation Officer Sub-Inspector Awais Akram told Pakistan Today that on media reports, police initiated an investigation into the alleged kidnapping on Wednesday.
During interrogation, police found that Shamsul Anwar fabricated the story to make money off of public sympathies. He revealed that Shamsul Anwar, in connivance with some accomplices in the media, fabricated a heart-rending story which was then carried in news reports. He said Anwar’s daughter had also been found from a neighbouring house and police had arrested him after registering a case of fraud (number 22/12) under Section 420, 499, 500 and 504 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). Akram said when police contacted Anwar, he repeated the same story, which had also appeared in various newspapers. However, when the top cops of Rawalpindi Police interrogated him and asked him for the number from which he was receiving calls for ransom, he failed to give any specific numbers saying that the number never appeared on his mobile phone and it always appeared as “no number” on his screen.

What royal disappointment! ShamsulAnwar was a fraud. shar.es/Wi9EF”
I would like to direct my comment to Sarah Khan, the author of this rather shockingly bitter, finger-pointing and misleading article.
Sarah, I am thoroughly disappointed with your writing. Because whether it was your intention or not, you are instrumental in spreading ill will against innocent philanthropic people, whose only crime was that they sympathized with a heartbreaking story they read.
What is your chief allegation against the ‘urban elite’, as you so dismissively chose to label them?
That they wanted to help someone they thought was in despair. That they took out time from their life to think about someone in need (as much as you’d love to disagree, EVERYONE has a job and a family, so no, they are not just sitting around waiting for an opportunity to tweet)
You say that they have not shown any action for target killings. Are you really serious? WHAT CAN ANYONE DO? Do you expect them to go out on the streets and try to maintain peace? If you want people to speak out about target killings, then YES, there is a lot of debate going on all the time. Dont forget that the only reason you are here today writing whatever you want to write is because ‘liberal people’ have fought for this right. But I guess you only choose to see ‘selective’ arguments and criticize ‘selective’ tweets.
Please remember that the ‘urban elite’ are usually just normal people who have jobs and a family. They are not all political leaders, feudal lords and government officials. They can only do so much before fearing for their own lives.
Atleast they tried to help someone and do some good. How were they supposed to know that such a popular story circulating in every renowned newspaper was a hoax. Do you expect every philanthropist to carry out investigations and every donor to check criminal records before making a donation?
How dare you grasp this opportunity to make fun of the only people in Pakistan who still have some humanity left in them by calling them stupid? Maybe they should just all write pessimistic and bitter articles like you because thats really helping the country, isnt it?
@Taimur Mustafa
You wrote: “If you want people to speak out about target killings, then YES, there is a lot of debate going on all the time.”
Which planet do you live on?
Barring a one or two token columns, mainstream media is either silent or misrepresents target killings of innocent Baloch, Shia, anti-Taliban Pashtuns by ISI and its proxies.
Did we witness similar activism by Aisha Aijaz (Aafia and Imran lover), Beena Sarwar (Sherry Rehman and Ejaz Haider lover) and Dr Awab (Aafia and Imran Khan lover) for Javid Naseer Rind Baloch? Was he not kidnapped? Was he not killed? (Of course by ISI!)

Excellent post, Sara. Urban elites hypocrisy needs to be exposed despite their protestations and pretexts.
My question to liberal Beena Sarwar and conservative Aisha Aijaz, liberal Marvi and conservative Awab:
Why no similar activism to recover hundreds of Balochs kidnapped by agencies? Are they lesser human beings?
Admit your selective morality, apologize and show similar activism to support the target killed Shias, Balochs, Pashtuns. Will you?

My, my, my…what a stingy tongue, with the coating of bitter words and much sour thoughts…you are surely a gifted one! Sarah Khan im so proud of you! i am so glad that you brought up this topic for discussion.
Darling after reading this piece, i just could not help stop myself to ask you : ‘if you had all the insight on this issue..where were you all along? why did you sit back, sipping tea or coffee, and waited so long to let these so called ‘LIBERAL ELITES'( Dr Awab Alvi @DrAwab) and Conservative ‘MY BIT FOR CHANGE’ (Aisha Aijaz @MyBitforChange) to raise this issue internationally? Do i smell hatred or simple jealousy here?
These two nominees of your ‘Hate list’ rather ‘Hit List’ did show some HUMANITY and MORALITY by supporting ” A poor man” to save ” A little girl” purely on humanitarian grounds. I am sure none of them like majority of us, had ever heard or known of the family before.
Both your allegedly accused ones have an open record for being supportive and vocal on a lot of moral, social, ethical and political issues. Both can be seen supporting the Pakistani nation in its thick and thin and highs and lows.
If Mr Anjum( the dubious journalist? ) or Mr Shamsul Qamar( the fraudulent father) chose to do something dubious and successfully put dust into the eyes of leading Print media names like The News, tribune, newsline, how can you solely blame these socail media activists?
Your accusations at one point lead us to the core issue of Balouch Libration Front, Anti Army, Anti Taliban, Anti Punjabi sentiments ….am I reading too much in between the lines here?
Sweetheart, this issue was not linguistic or ethnic! kindly refrain from venting wrong sentiments here. This is nothing what you are trying to project.
Kindly hold your horses and try to have a mature and indepth understanding of the situation prevailing in the country. Think rationally, think positive, think patriotic, think PAKISTAN!
You are gifted with powerful words and command over language and too with a passionate heart, use it wisely!
Best of luck!!
Spot on Binte Saleem!!
I agree with my sister Binte Saleem and sister Aisha Zojah Aijaz that core issue of Sara Khan’s post is Balouch Libration Front, Anti Army, Anti Taliban, Anti Punjabi sentiments, ie, linguistic or ethnic bias.
LUBP is a blog run by Baloch (RAW, CIA), Rafidi/Yahudi and Qadiani. Sara Khan is funded by RAW, BLA and CIA.
Our media and urban elites have no shame left, nor have their apologists and flatterers.

whilst the contents of the article are mostly spot on, but some of it is presumptuous in the sense that not all people who genuinely wanted to help are apathetic towards the plight of their Balochi, Sunni and/or Shia brethren or folks living in refugee camps in Khyber Pakhtunwa. It is wrong to presume that they do not rally in support of these people. It is furthermore wrong to presume that there may be people out there who wanted to help for “shallow philanthropic reasons”. May Allah give hidayat to this man and all those who take advantage of genuine folks who mean to help only for goodness in their akhirah. Cheers.

People do show their concern all the time for Baluchs , shias and all those people suffering….only in this situation it sounded much easier to help…as the man’s number was given…and ppl could send him money…if ppl tried to save a person and he turned out to be a fraud..that doesnt mean tht ppl dont care abt real problems…no1 is crazy to send money knowing tht he wud be a fraud…a fraud can be sunni, shia, baluch, pushtoon or punjabi…it doesnt matter!!

Denial is a thing.
So you are out spitting crap again?
why is that you’re silent at all times and decide to expose, ‘rescue’ the nation only when the balloon is burst.
It’s too easy to sit aside and blame anyone ma’am. Try being in their shoes for a minute and FEEL. it was a call for help not in any C rated newspaper but ‘The News’ a group known for its credibility and then followed Express Tribune (your angle of looking at Pakistan – I call it ‘sexpress tribune’ tough because it has nothing to offer but filth, disappointment and any every thing that can bring ill fame to Pakistan, Islam. we name it they’ll have it. I’m sorry I also belong to the ‘conversative’ class as you may call we call it being awakened.)
where was I? O yes, when such newspapers published the news we all were such to believe it. Every human who has a heart would go out helping the poor guy. I must admit the story was beautifully framed but that’s not to be blamed on the social bloggers but the media heads.
Nonetheless, whatever happened in the past few days assured that we’re not dead. Pakistanis are a nation that would respond to call of need. Tough we’ve learnt not to trust the sources we have trusted already i.e the news agencies.
Commendable job was done by the social bloggers including Aisha, Awan and I salute them for the timely response they showed.
And lastly for you, I wish you good luck to hype the next negative thing that happens in Pakistan. After all, you’re famous and the constitution guarantees you the ‘freedom of speech’!
Lakum Denukum Wali’yad deen!
Express Tribune took the lead by publishing this story in December 2010:
Forgotten hero: The cost of being heroic
By Sehrish Wasif
Published: December 31, 2010
Shamsul Anwar
ISLAMABAD: He caught a terrorist red-handed planting a time bomb in a Rawalpindi mosque and thus saved a Friday congregation from deaths and injuries.
The terrorists punished him for his act of bravery by kidnapping his two sons one of whom was killed and the other released on payment of ransom. This man of rare courage today has no money for the treatment of a son who has blood cancer. In fact he has no money to provide even two meals a day to his family.
He drives a cab now. He is Shamsul Anwar.
Every year, many individuals in Pakistan foil terrorist activities, only to suffer later due to government’s negligence in providing them protection.
The terrorists have not forgiven him and continue to threaten him but government is apathetic and refuses to help him in any way. He fears for the safety of his daughters.
He had started his construction business in Rawalpindi and was leading a happy and peaceful life with his eight children and wife after leaving the army.
The mosque incident happened on January 3, 2001 in the main mosque of Dhok Gujaran, Rawalpindi.
In the bargain he lost his 13-year-old son Yaseen and became a pauper after paying Rs1.4 million in ransom for the release of his other kidnapped son Faizullah. The terrorists had killed Yasin and made the other son, Faizullah, watch, which made him a nervous wreck.
Later they injected him with something poisonous, which damaged his kidneys. This was probably the cause of his blood cancer, Anwar says.
“I made a number of appeals to the prime minister for financial support for the treatment of my son but was told that my file had been closed as they had already given me enough money,” he added.
He said he had only been given Rs100,000 while he needed Rs500,000 for the treatment of his son, which requires blood transfusions. The money was given when Shaukat Aziz was the premier.
The Baitul Mal had given him another Rs25000 in this connection. His request for more money for the bone marrow transplant was bluntly refused.
“Your son is not the only one in the country who is suffering from cancer,” was the response from the PM House.
Meanwhile the terrorist gang, finding him helpless, is threatening him again and are now after his two daughters. On December 28 when he went to the Westridge Police Station to lodge the report against the terrorists he was taunted by the police for catching the bomber.
“You are a brave man. Now suffer,” they told him.
He said he would hold the government responsible if anything happened to his daughters. He appealed to the government to provide him with protection and a job to support his family.
He said, “I have sold my house, my taxis and mortgaged my van to bear the expenses of my son’s treatment and to provide food to my family.”

This is really sad – someone who risked his own life to save so many others is being treated in such a shameful way. I am sure that Shamsul Anwar’s case is only one of many similar cases across the country.
The Express Tribune could perhaps establish some kind of fund which is transparent and run by an honest trustee to help such heroes and other deserving individuals. I am sure there would be many willing to donate to this fund.
Tribune is doing a great job in bringing such issues to light and I hope such articles can result in putting additional pressure on government departments such as the police to change their attitude towards people like Shamsul Anwar. I am disgusted at the above-mentioned careless attitude of the police which suggests that the poor man is paying the price for being “brave” and foiling the bomb plot.

I agree with the suggestion that maybe the Express Tribune could help set up a fund that collects donations for caring for those affected by terrorism in Pakistan. It is extremely unfortunate that no such fund currently exists, and I am positive that many Pakistanis across the globe will be willing to donate to such a fund, especially if it is set up by a legitimate organization like the Express Tribune.

Salam,
Can someone please get us the contact details for this man?
We’d like to launch a fund-raising campaign for him here in EU, through APPEC.
But we do need to first varify the on-ground status of his troubles directly from him.
Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

And another one: Shamsul ANwar scam:
http://criticalppp.com/archives/68889
Utterly disappointed by this yellow journalism. Many calls to 911 or 1122 Rescue services turn out to be hoaxes. Would it justify these rescue services to start ignoring calls based on statistics? The story was published in The News and was assumed to be true. With just two days to the deadline, it was necessary to campaign for it, like any decent human being would do. Stop giving it an ethnic or sectarian outlook. It was just a humanitarian issue and response was also humanitarian. As I have pointed out on Twitter also, My Bit For Change and Marvi Sirmed both campaigned for the issue, whereas in reality they have every differing views on other matters. I am shocked at the negativity in this article. I am proud of Pakistanis, the world over, for standing for humanity. And I am utterly disgusted at the extreme negativity reflected in this article (also written by a Pakistani). This is the reason that we, as Pakistanis, can so easily be swayed from decency (proof are Taliban, etc.) But, above all, I still remain proud of this nation and confident of a bright future, Insha Allah! Pakistan Zindabad!
On the positive side, look at the power of social media in Pakistan. Within no time, this story reached every urban household. The speed with which all this drama was materialiazed is also exceptional. Time for our social media marketeers to take something positive from this.
The Shamsul Anwar story is indeed sad, but these crap you’ve written is even more sadder. I suggest you stop writing blogs and get yourself admitted to a psychiatrist immediately. How you try and use this story to bring about ethnic and sectarian divide is beyond disgusting and pathetic – that’s probably the reason why you don’t write for any newspapers.
“deny or obfuscate authentic stories of the Baloch, Pashtun and Shia target killings by army and its Jihadi-sectarian proxies.”
LOL, what evidence do you have? You sit behind your little computer and write a lot a trash, do you even have evidence to back your claims? I am a Pashtun, those who being targeted by the Army are nothing more than petty criminals who use Islam to get away with anything. We’ve been wanting the Army to come into the Tribal regions for years now and they didn’t come until the situation got completely out of hand. The same case in Swat, the Swatis were literally BEGGING the Army to come, but they chose to not come. And what is this nonsense about “Shia” and “Baluch” killings? Pakistan is the 2nd largest Shia populated country in the world, if a “massacre” was actually occurring, I would expect Iran to voice a HUGE cry, but they don’t. And I don’t know about the Baluch situation, but I fail to understand what the Army gains by murdering innocent Baloch. What the Army gains in killings certain people, are those who operate private jails in there own towns and enslave people and refuse them health or education. That prick Bugti was a Oxford graduate, and refused to allow any of this people in his village any access to Education or Health.
Instead of talking outta your ass, bring forth an argument in the future which actually holds water, and not your own sick mentality. I seriously feel sorry for you…
Well said Anwar Hayat.
@Anwar Hayan
I agree. I really like Aisha Aijaz (My Bit for Change) and Dr. Awab (Teeth) because they do not give any coverage to dirty propaganda by RAW, CIA agents in the name of Baloch or Shia rights.
Shias must not act as Iranian agents. Baloch must not play in Indians’ hands. All Pashtun support Taliban and are with Pakistan army and Imran Khan.
We should jointly condemn sectarian and ethnic propaganda by Sarah Khan and LUBP blog.
