PNS Mehran incident – what next?

While the Generals have been busy trying to fight proxy wars with highly dangerous
‘pawns’ in their attempt to gain strategic dominance. Karachi once again shows that it comes down to poor, foot soldiers of the Army and para-military to follow the orders of the Generals and fight the menace. Only to be betrayed again and again by establishment’s pro-Taliban sympathisers.
Its become not only about political leadership versus armed forces. But rather about those who have delusions of grandeur and dreams of Islamic imperialism, and realists who want to create a social welfare state. Due to strong push towards that former, a militaristic agenda, a deal with the devil was done. What’s worse, so deluded are they that they don’t recognise Satan in all his glory. Fire and Brimstone all around, death, misery and destruction and yet you hear slogans of world dominance. If it weren’t this dangerous, one could have afforded to laugh at such lunacy. Let us once again pick more dead, once again bury some more.
The Political government has shown restrain, to the extent that many have begun to call it paralysed. Had it been a government with fascist tendencies, it would have seen a great ‘opportunity’ to fear monger and easily have dictatorial powers.
Instead Government has tried to create a public consensus, only to be thwarted by ill-informed and out of depth political Celebrities , bent on being on Tv more than any film start. Is it deviousness or  naivety, one can’t say for sure. But what is certainly true that such celebrities, while never missing a chance to play re-mixed version of the Anthem in their gatherings, don’t have country’s interest as their utmost priority.
There are no simple solutions, no quick fixes. We are in a quagmire, but such difficulties make a nation stronger. If it is willing to step up and take this unprecedented challenge in country’s history with clear mindedness and resolve.
Its not about finding enemies and easy targets, its not about spreading hate. It about educating and empowering our young, its about creating employment and equality. It is about going back to manifesto and enacting it with single-mindedness its creator had sought it to be enacted.
Her vision is the only way forward from the troubles of today. It is a sincere prayer and hope that the nation would listen and follow.
