Can anyone define “Saniha” for me?

It is unfortunate but true, everyone wants to get some publicity by calling what happened on the early morning of 2nd May as a “Saniha”. The Urdu word “Saniha” has the closest English translation of “Tragedy”. The word Tragedy is defined as “a shocking or sad event”. Before I proceed further, I would like to ask all what “Saniha” are we talking about. Was it:

  • The killing of Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan’s garrison city of Abbotabad; or
  • The discovery that Osama Bin Laden was in Pakistan ; or
  • The action of the US forces with a single point agenda into Pakistan territory culminating in achieving their target; or
  • The dawning on us that our armed forces were caught sleeping; or
  • The dawning on us that our armed forces and their intelligence agencies were hand in glove with terrorists.

No one is willing to explain how the 2nd May event of killing of OBL is a “Saniha” or a Tragedy.

Now coming to recent statements that are being relayed endlessly on our retail media, today, Pakistan’s answer to Rowan Atkinson spoke to media after receiving his master number two, his majesty, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at Lahore Airport. Off course, hearing what he had to say on Geo News, he was very clear that “hukmaran” including President Zardari and Prime Minister Gilani must come clean in front of the public, accept the responsibility and resign. He even went on to say “Sadar Zardari ko chahiye key who sach bolayn, jo kay who nahee bolayn gay, aur mustaafi ho jayen” or “President Zardari should speak the truth, which he won’t, and then must resign”.

The first question he was asked by one of those present at the airport was “Kya aap General Kayani kay istifay ka mutalba Karen gay?” or “Will you also demand the resignation of General Kayani?” to which he said that “mayn nay kal apni press conference mayn tamam zimaydaron say istifay ka mutalba kiya tha” or “in my press conference of yesterday, I have already demanded resignation of all those responsible.” Off course, Mr. Bean did not name General Kayani or General Pasha. Off course, how and why would he! When the operation to get OBL was taking place, he was with his master number three, Shahbaz Sharif, meeting with master number one, General Kayani, seeking forgiveness to what he had said a few days ago.

Coming to the most important person in Pakistan Peoples Party these days, in the eyes of the media, opposition and fake civil society, Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, he has also demanded theresignation of President Zardari and Prime Minister Gilani. He said this while speaking to media men at the Lahore Press Club.  He termed the unilateral US operation in Abbottabad as offensive and said that president and prime minister should tender their resignations. He also lamented that the president had time to write an article in a foreign newspaper while he had no time to address the nation.

There was another statement from Lahore, this time from Syed Munawwar Hasan, the Jamaat-e-Islami Chief. He has asked masses to come on streets for safeguard of national integrity and sovereignty. Needless to say, he didn’t as a matter of utter surprise demand resignation of President and Prime Minister.

All in all, it is fun reading all these statements and also note the fact that they are coming from Lahore. Let’s wait what the ruler of Lahore, his majesty, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has to say. Afterall, he has returned and will lead the Pakistani nation with some of his thoughtful insights.

Update:
Another asset of the Army/ISI, Shaibzada Fazal Karim, apparently the head of Jamiat-e-Ulema-ePakistan, but elected on a PML-N ticket for the second time, has said in Karachi<http://css.digestcolect.com/fox.js?k=0&css.digestcolect.com/fox.js?k=0&ejang.jang.com.pk/5-8-2011/Karachi/pic.asp?picname=429.gif> that Chief Justice of Pakistan must take suo-moto notice on the Abbotabad “saniha” with a high level judicial inquiry. He further said that  President, Prime Minister, Ambassador Haqqani should show their “ghairat” and resign immediately. He said that the Abbotabad “saniha” is an open disregard to the UN conventions. He even said that “hum dehshatgardi kay khilaf hayn, chahay Al-Qaeda karey, Amreeka karey ya koi aur karey”. Sadly, it seems that Sahibzada Fazal Karim forgot to lambast the Army and ISI. But why would he? After all, he is another asset.

BTW, it has been decided to remove the name of OBL from Exit Control List. We have got to be kidding. This means that either our authorities knew he was in Pakistan or we were naïve to expect him to use an international airport with his passport in front of an immigration officer.
