I salute all the martyrs of the PPP – Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s speech in Naudero
Text of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s Speech at CEC meeting
NAUDERO, Apr 3 (APP): Following is the text of speech of Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at the meeting of the CEC of the Party in Naudero Sunday night.
BismillaharRhamanirRaheem
Assalaamwalaykum
We gather yet again to mark the martyrdom of our great leader Qude-i-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
My mother Shaheed Benazir Bhutto taught us that democracy was the greatest revenge.
The day she took oath as the first female prime minister of Pakistan was the day she took her revenge.
When she too was martyred I fought against my natural instincts as a son who’s mother was assassinated. My heart, my entire being pulsed with rage demanding violent vengeance.Revenge against the dictatorial regime that purposely sabotaged the security arrangements, provided purposely inadequate resources, purposely flawed equipments, purposely designed to leave her vulnerable.
All the while having the complete knowledge, supported by unquestionable evidence that the extremists lay in wait at that exact spot ready to attack.
I believe my mother’s sprit and her teachings cooled the tempers of a hot headed 19yr old. Allowing me to convince a party ready for all out civil-war and a traumatized nation that democracy is the best revenge.
This remains our mantra. Be it the judicial murders of Shaheed Zulfikar Bhutto or the forces of extremism and dictatorship that assassinated his daughter:
Democracy is and always will be the best revenge.
We know our great martyrs lives will not be avenged if any insignificant man alone is held responsible. For us to have our revenge we must insure that the circumstances that allowed for Shaheed Bhutto’s Judicial murder never arise again. For us to take revenge of Shaheed BB’s assassination we must defeat the forces of violent extremism and dictatorship that together assassinated my mother. To do this we must dedicate our lives to the establishment of a fully functioning democracy in Pakistan.
However, democracy is not our only revenge. There is a matter of Justice. The rule of law must be allowed to take its course. This after all is also an important component of democracy. It is our responsibility to history to ensure the full and complete facts – the truth – of these crimes are known to the world.
Thus, I fully support the party’s decision to revisit the case of the Judicial murder of Shaheed Bhutto. It is not just a question of law, it is also a question for history. It is right for us to finally set the record straight and ensure that such an autocracy never ever again takes place in our nations courts.
On my mothers assassination the circumstances are far more complicated. As her son and heir I am the only person to have received a complete briefing of the investigation into her assassination. I would like to thank our investigation team. In taking on this responsibility they have risked their lives. They have worked tirelessly for 3 years to come to the truth.
I would also like to thank the United Nations. They honored my mother by passing a resolution condemning her assassination. They also obeyed the wishes of the people of Pakistan, who demanded through unanimous resolutions passed by all 4 provincial assemblies, our national assembly and the senate, that the United Nations investigate her assassination. There detailed and invaluable report is of the utmost importance to history. It did the best it could in the confines of the parameters set. Both reports combined lead us towards the answers we seek.
Our national report identifies the individuals involved in the criminal act its self. It also follows the trail they left behind in an attempt to expose the financers, orchestrators and co-conspirators involved. Everyone directly involved, who could be arrested and are still alive have been taken into custody.
The report also raises many questions. Having read everything it is easy to conclude that this was a grand conspiracy. A conspiracy to rid the world of its best weapon to combat international violent extremism. A conspiracy to rob Pakistan of its best hope to establish a fully functional democracy.
We must therefore proceed with caution. The premature release of the entire investigation report could legally sabotage the case currently in progress. It could also allow the conspirators – who may not be confined to our borders – to permanently deprive the people of Pakistan and the citizens of the world of the truth they deserve.
Therefore I advise the members of the CEC to appoint a limited number of its most senior members to have a full and complete briefing of the entire investigation report.
Given the complexities of this conspiracy this committee of senior members can advise us on how to proceed with the publication of the report. It will decide what information can responsibly be released to satisfy the desire of our supporters for information. While also ensuring we do not hamper the legal proceedings already in progress in our national courts. We cannot allow those that conspired to rid the world of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto to sabotage our desire for justice and our search for the truth.
I would like to conclude by saluting our martyrs all of whom deserve justice for their sacrifice.
- I salute our martyred founder who choose the gallows but refused to be silenced by tyranny.
- I salute his martyred daughter who refused to be silenced by fear.
- I also salute our party’s newest martyrs who have joined their leaders in the afterlife.
- I salute our martyred minorities minister – Pakistan’s modern day equivalent to Martin Luther King.
- I salute our martyred Governor -the real lion of Punjab.
- I salute all the martyrs of the PPP who have given their lives for our party, our country and our democracy.
Jiay Bhutto.

Speaker Muhammad Aslam Bhootani presided over the assembly session. This house demands of the apex court to re-open and re-conduct hearing of that case. ZAB was biggest leader of Asia and he was victimized of judicial murder. The persons responsible for judicial murder of Zulfiqar Bhutto be brought to justice”.
Delivering speech, Mir Umrani said dictators toppled a democratic government on July 5, 1977. ‘ZA Bhutto case reopening not a vindictive act’

President Asif Ali Zardari has said that reopening the case of ‘judicial murder’ of founding chairperson of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the most popular premier of the country Zulfikar Ali Bhutto (ZAB) is not an act of revenge on the part of his party.
Addressing a public gathering on the occasion of the 32nd death anniversary of ZAB in Garhi Khuda Bux, the president said that he has sent a reference to the Supreme Court seeking revisit of the case because he wanted to correct a ‘historic wrong’.
Referring to the book of former Supreme Court judge Naseem Hassan Shah, he said that some of the judges who were part of the bench that sentenced ZAB have admitted that it was a manipulated judgment. He added that no judge has ever endorsed the conviction of ZAB.
President Zardari said it was high time that the responsible institution got rid of this stigma. He added that the credit of reinstating the judges sacked by former military ruler Pervez Musharraf goes to the PPP government.
Referring to the unveiling of the investigation report into Benazir Bhutto’s assassination, Zardari said that his government has unmasked the killers of his slain wife. He said that some of the killers were standing in the dock, while the remaining would be brought to justice.
However, in the same breath he added that they were not seeking revenge. “The law is taking its course,” he said. “We believe democracy is the best revenge.”
He called upon all political parties to join hands with the government for strengthening genuine democracy in the country and for introducing economic reforms.
He promised free, fair and transparent elections, saying that if the people did not vote for the PPP in the next general elections, they would ensure peaceful transfer of power.
He said that he had been incarcerated for “so long that if he had been found guilty in any case instituted against him, he would not have to serve more than what he had to serve time in jail.
The central leadership of the PPP is gathered at Naudero. Observers expect party leaders to set out the PPP’s political strategy for the upcoming year.

Zardari signs reference to reopen case of Bhutto’s ‘judicial murder’Agencies April 1, 2011 (3 days ago)

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday signed the reference to reopen the case of “judicial murder” of former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, DawnNews reported.
The reference will now be sent to the Supreme Court.
President Zardari signed the reference in the presence of Law Minister Babar Awan and Sindh Home Minister Zulfikar Mirza, under Article 186 of the Constitution. Secretary to President Asif Hayat and Spokesperson Farhatullah Babar were also present, a press release said.
Spokesperson Farhatullah Babar said that the reference will now be sent to the Supreme Court by the law ministry. Early this week the federal Cabinet authorised President Zardari to send a reference to the Supreme Court on the matter, he said.
Article 186 of the Constitution states: (1) “If, at any time, the President considers that it is desirable to obtain the opinion of the Supreme Court on any question of law which he considers of public importance, he may refer the question to the Supreme Court for consideration”.
Clause 2 of the same Article states: “The Supreme Court shall consider a question so referred and report its opinion on the question to the President”.
Farhatullah Babar said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) had never intended to seek revenge but it wanted to put right a historic wrong and thereby vindicate the position of the founding Chairman of the party.
He recalled that a former judge of the bench of the Supreme Court which upheld the death sentence had subsequently publicly acknowledged that the split verdict was given under pressure from the dictatorship of the time.
The death sentence was awarded to Pakistan’s first directly elected Prime Minister by the Lahore High Court and subsequently upheld by the Supreme Court in March 1979 in a split verdict.
The former premier was executed on April 4, 1979 by the then military dictatorship disregarding appeals by world leaders and amid serious reservations by international jurists about the legal propriety of the death sentence.
The body of the premier was flown secretly to Larkana and was buried without permitting family members to attend the funeral and the last rites.
After Bhutto was hanged, the PPP had described the capital punishment awarded to its founding chairman in the Mahmood Raza Kasuri murder case as a judicial murder and vowed to get the verdict reversed through a review petition, but it did not materialise during its previous two terms in government — 1988-90 and 1993-96.

Zardari vows to rectify historical wrong of Bhutto’s judicial murder
GARHI KHUDA BUX, April 4 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari Monday vowed to rectify the historical wrong of the “judicial murder” of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and said now it was the obligation of the judiciary to clear its record. He was addressing a large gathering here at the mausoleum of the Shaheeds of Bhutto family on the 32nd death anniversary of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in the early hours of Monday, the President said he had filed a reference and desired the record to be corrected.“We are not like Cromwell. We are not seeking revenge. We want the history to record that a wrong was committed and it needs to be corrected.”
The venue, filled with thousands of Pakistan People’s Party workers from across the country, continued to reverberate with slogans of ‘Jeay Bhutto’, ‘Zinda hae Bhutto Zinda hae’ and ‘Zinda hae BB Zinda hae’. Chairperson of Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and other senior party leadership joined the ‘jiylas’ in raising slogans.
“There should be no objection to the reference as it is the demand of the people of Pakistan,” Zardari said amidst the slogans of “zalmo jawab do khun ka hisab do”.
“We do not want clash of institutions, we want to make
institution work like an institution. That’s why we have sent you a reference to clear the wrong that you had done,” the President said.
President Zardari said those who committed the judicial murder of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto thought that they had buried him in the dead of the night and thrown her daughter in the jail and beaten up the jiylas, but they never could have imagined that they were in fact making him immortal.
“They never knew that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto would spread her father’s message to every nook and corner of the country.”
President Zardari said the judiciary of today was the one, for whose independence the people had suffered and rendered sacrifices.
“They too (judiciary) had learnt from Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto to come out on the streets and fight for their rights,” he said.
He said in one year time the government has successfully transferred all powers to the Parliament. “We do not believe in making headlines, we prefer making history with our blood, like the Shaheeds of the Bhutto family did.”
The historians must understand and note what is the strength of people and of Pakistan Peoples Party.
The President also invited all political leaders to come and sit together to find out a solution to the grave economic challenges and to find a way out.
“Let’s find out how to save Pakistan, how to determine it’s destiny,” he said.
“There is still the need to do a lot as thousands of Bilawals are still barefoot.”
He said he believed in policy of reconciliation and offered the ‘political actors’ to sit together and find solution to their problems. “We have come with a message of peace … talk to us … we are the largest political party … we are in spite of you … we have a philosophy and the people are with us and we can determine its destiny.”
The President said that he still has more tests to undertake and has to hold the next general election. He pointed at the several of the by-elections in the country that were held with complete transparency.
He said the government restored the judiciary and the constitution and would also hold the general election on time.
“We will hold free, fair and transparent elections and if the people so desire we will return to power, or if they so choose, we will sit in opposition,” the President said.
President Zardari said it has been the success of the mandate of the people of Pakistan that Bhutto lives in the hearts and minds of the people. He said attempts were made in the past to dislodge the PPP government, but again the party was brought into power by the people of Pakistan.
The President said that he knew that the prices of Rs 500 billion has come in rural economy and it is for the first time that the farmer has thought of changing his life style and buying basic amenities of life.
The President also recited the verses; Tum kitne Bhutto maro gae, har ghar se Bhutto nikle ga. Aaj maen bhe Bhutto hun, Aaj tum bhe Bhutto ho, (How many Bhutto’s would you kill. Bhutto will emerge from each house. Today I am also a Bhutto and you too are today a Bhutto), as the large crowd joined him.
The President said Shaheed Benazir Bhutto had taken revenge of her father’s murder, through democracy.
“I am proud to say that I am sitting at a position due to the blood of the Shaheeds of Bhutto and at a place that has in the past always worked against us.”
“I am trustee of the legacy of Bhutto,” President Zardari said and added that he was a student of Benazir Bhutto.
He said he asked all party leaders to write in the attendence register on the very first day their relation to the Shaheed leader and Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani described himself as brother of Shaheed Bhutto.
It was the Pakistan Peoples Party that called upon the Prime Minister to be the Prime Minister on the name of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, like it did to all others, Zardari said.
“In fact it was the history being written, which showed that they all were Bhuttos. No one understood at that time,” the President said.
He said “if anyone thinks that he himself is someone special, than he is wrong. It is all because of the Bhutto legacy and nothing else.”
President Zardari said he was presenting himself before the party workers for accountability. He said he was the trustee of party’s honour, dignity and prestige. He said he in his address earlier at Thatta had vowed to change the system.
The President said he has fulfilled his pledge, made last year, to restore the Constitution of 1973, and some political actors and others did not believe him.
President Zardari said some thought that they would never give complete powers to the government, but were proven wrong.
Attired in a black Sherwani and a silver Sindhi cap, President Zardari said no where in the world, people still love and remember a leader 32 years after his death, like the way they do it here, as he was a leader of the masses, the workers. He was the voice of the people of Pakistan.
He said political actors were once again bent upon their pranks and recalled that in one television show one commentator tried to mislead the young audience by saying that after Benazir Bhutto, her husband was in power, that would be followed by the son.
But he did not mention their sufferings, he did not point that the daughter was never allowed to see her father when he was hanged, and how she yearned for her children, how the family was forced to exile, he said.
He said it were the sacrifices of the party that had given them the position that they deserved, and even after 32 years the people still have the same respect, love and regard for their great leader.
President Zardari said it is only the ‘jiylas’ of the Pakistan Peoples Party who have withstood the test of the time and even though their commander Shaheed Benazir Bhutto – was assassinated, they still contested in the polls and came to power. He said it were the sacrifices of the people that democracy was flourishing in the country.
He asked the gathering to join him in prayers for the martyrs of democracy.
Zardari said it was also a historical fact that today the President was here at Garhi Khuda Bux to pay homage to the great leader.
He said it was his honour to serve the people of Pakistan and was proud to work for 14 hours straight, and his Prime Minister works 12 hours and has to be present at the parliament house for 99 days in a 135 days of the parliament year, because he is the representative of the people.
It is the same President House that was once against Faiz Ahmed Faiz and declared him persona non-grata, and today the same President House honours the great poet and the place echoes with the slogans of Bhutto is alive, he added.
He said the investigation report in the murder of Benazir Bhutto has been put before the party leadership and the law will take its course and the party only believed in revenge through more democracy.
He said people now know the faces of some, while others who were involved would also surface.

This is very inspiring speech which should be enough to shut the mouths of all Fake Civil Social stooges who keep repeating their master’s mantra: “PPP abandoned Taseer, PPP abandoned Bhatti, Sherry Rehman is the only brave voice left” etc.
Excellent Marvelous Speech of future Leader !
