Our Confused mullahs and right wingers
Yes it was all over the retail news channels of Pakistan. Everybody had their own take on it. The lawyer of the deceased had his version. Here is a little of what I understood of this controversy.

– Media made hell a lot of money through this controversy.
– Right wingers and extremists got huge mileage out of it.

1- US admitted guilt by paying “blood money”

2- Paying blood money is absolutely according to our Islamic principles set by “Sharia”. There is no second opinion about, it but the discussion can revolve around how, where and who can implement this sharia law. I know this also makes our extreme-liberal (i.e fascist kind) friends jumpy in their pants.

3- Davis was set free by the courts. The session judge has reputation of being upright and independent minded who doesn’t come under political pressure. I guess we can safely assume that courts in Pakistan are free since Iftikhar Chaudhry won his Supreme Court throne back, is working day and night, doing everything to provide relief to common people.

4- The next of kin of the deceased appeared in the court by themselves to record their statement so being under pressure shit doesnt hold up. I see that the only pressure on them was how to refuse this huge sum of money.

5- Some say 19 and some say 21 crore rupees were paid as blood money; it is hell a lot of money along with the visas for the next of kins. That is lots of money and visa to spend the money in US casinos or 42nd street in NY.

6- Mullahs and Islamist politicians need to praise the Punjab Government, CIA, ISI and Iftikhar Chaudhry, that the Islamic law was upheld. This is a “contempt of court” when people are talking against the decision of the court. We will see hooligans on the street against the court verdict. Isn’t this funny how tables are turned.

7- No one can stop the practice of Islamic law (also it is according to Pakistani Law introduced by none other than General Zia-ul-Haq, the father of Sharia brigade in Pakistan and Afghanistan).

8- Mullahs / politicians / media honchos could have satisfied the monetary needs of the families of the two killed ISI operatives making it easier for them to refuse offer by the Kafir USA.

9- A few weeks ago, Mushatq Minhas and Nusrat Javed (of Bolta Pakistan) set up bank account for people to send in the money to be paid to the families of killed ISI operatives so that they dont get greedy by the US offer. But to date not a single rupee has been deposited in that bank account…. What a shame we talk a lot by don’t do anything practical. Or if the money was deposited, that may be considered as Minhas and Javed’s booty in this smoke-screen war between ISI and CIA.

10- I don’t see media, mullahs and extremist right wingers threatening to kill anybody who doesn’t accept laws made by Quran (Sharia). Slamaan Taseer or Shahbaz Bhati ka bhi yahi kasoor tha, isnt it same explanation given by extremists.

11- According to media reports, King of Saudi Arabia and Imam of Kaaba were involved in this settlement. I mean who dares to disrespect the Imam of Kaaba and the Khadim al Hramain al Sharifain. Why are people doubting the hard work and sincerity of two most respected people of our religion? (If not the king at least Imam of kaaba should be given due respect for brokering the deal.)

Scans of the (Saudi) diyat money and signatures/identity cards of recipients

Scanned copies of Raymond Davis’s signed application for settlement through blood-money (diyat). The documents, which include the signatures of the families of the victims gunned down in Lahore can be viewed here.
