Qandeel baloch – A victim of hypocrisy and male dominance – by Muhammad Faisal Younus
What we dreaded from a long time has actually come true. One more daughter of the nation has sacrificed her life in the name of so called honor. Ms. Qandeel Baloch, a famous Pakistani celebrity was strangled to death by her own brother Muhammad Waseem in the name of honor killing on July 15, 2016. How many more women have to sacrifice their lives for such matters?
Three weeks prior to her death, she has had written to the interior minister, the director general of the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) and the senior superintendent of Islamabad asking them to provide security but her request was completely ignored as there is no value of life of a celebrity in so called Islamic Republic. Had they provided her security, she might have been alive.
Ms. Qandeel baloch was born on March 1st, 1990 in Pakistan. Initially, she was a struggling actress but due to filthy demands from producers and directors, she stepped back and established a page on social media. She became famous very quickly on the social media because of her videos and selfies. She was very outspoken and unapologetic.
Pakistani society is very famous for its double standards, it’s a hippocratic male dominated society that gives every freedom to men but when women follow the same track, they are called sluts or prostitutes. A society where psychopaths and sick journalists like Orya Maqbool Jaan has full freedom to use filthy language against women playing cricket with appropriate dressings, comparing a women to a bitch on the other hand, keep their mouth shut on men’s dressing in sports such as body building, wrestling and kabbadi. A hypocrite society, gives male actors like Hamza Ali Abbasi full freedom of adopting a western life style and do not criticize him because of his gender. On the other hand, female celebrities such as Veena Malik, Meera and Mawra Hocane get harshly criticized by media and society for the same behavior.
Now after her tragic departure, representatives of this hypocrite society become a judge of her good and evil deed rather than condemning the brutal killing. Some even celebrated her death. They claim themselves the followers of prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him and completely forget that a prostitute’s sins were forgiven just for serving a thirsty dog.
The life style, Ms. Qandeel Baloch has adopted is the life style of millions of men population in so called Islamic country including common people, celebrities, army officials and corrupt politicians but they can survive and do not get killed in the name of honor because they are living in a male dominated society.
It is very devastating that people are criticizing her and accusing Ms. Qandeel’s life style for the reason of her tragic death. Can they justify the killing of thousands of innocent women in the name of honor by their father, mother and brother every year with reasons such as love marriages, higher education and property issues?
Ms. Baloch was way better than billions of Pakistanis including those who are selling donkey and dog meat, those who are selling impure milk for newborns, those filthy mullahs doing adultery with innocent kids in madrasas ( religious institutions), those extremists involved in killing of thousands of innocent people, army and paramilitary forces killing their own civilians, better than a common hypocrite Pakistani who covers his son’s filth but doesn’t allow his daughter to get a higher education, to become a sportswoman, doesn’t even allow her to get married by her own choice.
Zia-ul-Haq’s indoctrination and Afghan war’s aftermath have made this pure society misogynist, parochial and bigoted. The sooner we realize this, the better we will be. We can only pray for the safety of our daughters and sisters, even mothers from the nation of beast. That’s the best we can do.
May Allah grant her (Ms. Qandeel Baloch) a highest place in Jannah (heaven) and save our daughters from this sick society. Aameen!
Very nice article FAISAL..this is the time which is predicted several years ago that you will lost ur path..you will have no idea what is wrong and what is right. .killer will have no idea why he is killing someone and nor the person who died will have any idea of his killing..???so this world is going to complete its circle of creation ..May Allah give us strength to find right path ..
Honor killing happens throughout the world but most common in underdeveloped countries like Pakistan and India, unfortunately for no other reason except society sick mindset established by radical religious leaders and establishment. Women could be the easy target in this kind of society on the other hand men population has full freedom to choose the way of life they want. So sad
Killing in the name of Honor must be stopped.
Agree with you.
