After his disgraceful exits from PTV and Geo TV, it is now confirmed that Dr Shahid Masood, the ‘renowned’ asset of the military establishment in the ISI-JI dominated media, has been terminated from the ARY TV Network.

He was working as the President of ARY Television Network and hosted a talk-show “Views on News”.

It may be recalled that only a few days ago, Dr Masood’s emails were in circulation in various media networks and mail groups:

Although salman sb categorically denied and we both are on same page in all decisions taken during last few days/months. Even then I” offer” my resignation if it can be helpful in resolving the issues.

I request all the team members to avoid creating/listening to rumours.

It is widely believed that the owner of the ARY TV network wanted to get rid of Dr Shahid because of the following reasons:

• low and further declining ratings of his talkshow,
• complaints by colleagues and subordinates about his poor management skills,
• the increasing lack of trust by viewers because of Dr Shahid’s known links with the military establishment,
• boycott of Dr Shahid by the PPP (except Naheed Khan and Safdar Abbasi),
• boycott of Dr Shahid by all respectable journalists and analysts,
• Jang Group’s boycott of Dr Shahid Masood and his talkshow.

Also it has been said that the ARY management wanted to start a new prime-time comedy programme in lieu of the Views on News which Dr Shahid vehemently resisted.

As a damage control measure, Dr Shahid has written a verbose, poorly structured letter which has been sent to various list-servs and websites. Dr Shahid writes:

I am certain, some of you have been privy to, or receiving a lot of emails and needless speculations, ranging from controversies on hiring, firings and resignations all the way to some using their time and energy to discuss me.

I am pleased to announce that I will be a colleague and a co-worker with some of you very soon in my capacity of ‘CEO and President’ for an upcoming Media Group. Mr. Sadruddin Hashwani leads this consortium of giants from the Middle East and Europe.

It is now clear what Dr Shahid meant by advance worries (his disgraceful termination) and advance planning (seeking asylum in the Hashwani group).

It may be noted that not unlike Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman and Majeed Nizami (and other businessmen), Sadruddin Hashwani has always managed close links and cordial relationships with Pakistan’s military establishment. He is also known to be a personal friend of Geo TV’s Kamran Khan, the ISI’s oldest asset in Pakistani media.

I have said in my many previous comments that this person is over ambitious and he can do anything for achieving his objectives. He does not care for moral values, ethics and so on. Now again he has got hold of some other financer but I am certain again his stay with that person will not be very long. The reason is, he is not faithful, reliable, trustworthy and competent and he does not have a formal training in this field. By training he is doctor. Let us see how long he can manage to stick with this new group. No other anchor or journalist has changed loyalities so often in recent years. He has been predicting demise of this current regime but he has to himself change his employers three times during this period. What an irony??
