Arif Jamal’s deflection tactics to exonerate Takfiri Deobandi terrorists

In his article in Herald magazine (24 June 2015), Arif Jamal has dishonesty and wrongly tried to suggest that Deobandi militancy in Pakistan and Afghanistan is led by Salafis which is a blatant lie and a shameful attempt to save and exonerate Takfiri Deobandis.

His article “Who’s afraid of the Islamic State?” has dangerous obfuscations that need to be pointed out and countered. Overall, the article is a weak attempt to dilute the leadership role of the Takfiri Deobandi terrorists backed by certain elements of Pakistan’s establishment – including current PM, the Saudi stooge Nawaz Sharif. It also has some glaring omissions.

AJ1

The most glaring omission is the recent case of the massacre of Shia Ismailis at Safoora Chowk, Karachi. The perpetrators of the massacre were ISIS-affiliated ASWJ-LeJ members – a primarily Deobandi organisation. ASWJ-LeJ has other avatars such as Jundullah, Jaish al-Adl, and Jamaat ul Ahrar.

Saad Aziz Deobandi was to film the massacre of Ismaili Shia Muslims at Safoora Chowk Karachi

Let’s obfuscate the massacre of Ismaili Shia Muslims in Karachi – by Riaz Malik Al-Hajjaji

When talking about the spread of ISIS in Pakistan, Arif Jamal does not even bother to refer to their (ISIS) most significant atrocity on Pakistani soil; i.e., the massacre of Shia Ismailis by ISIS-affiliated Deobandi terrorists!

A person of Arif Jamal’s “credentials” with published books and studies does not even bother to highlight the central role of Deobandi clerics – including those affiliated with JUI F in this massacre.

On the contrary, Arif Jamal’s attempt to obfuscate the role of the Deobandi JUI F by presenting them as an anti-Taliban force!

It seems that just as some Fake liberals of Pakistan routinely present Saudi stooge PM as an “anti-establishment”, Arif Jamal is attempting to absolve JUI F for its decades long association with the Pakistan establishment; not to mention its retrogressive, misogynist and sectarian tactics in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa!

On the contrary, after the Rawalpindi incident when a Shia procession was lynched and after the massacre of Shia Ismailis in Karachi, it was JUI F that publicly came out in support for the ISIS-affiliated ASWJ-LeJ. It even took out joint rallies after the Rawalpindi attack by an ASWJ mosque against a Shia procession.

“Karachi: The country’s banned Deobandi terrorist outfit Sipah-e-Sahaba (ASWJ aka LeJ, led by Aurangzeb Farooqi and Ahhmad Ludhyavni) and its backer JUI-F (of Maulana FazlurRehman) are up in arms over the arrest of hate clerics and terrorists in the aftermat of the Ismaili Shia massacre at Safoora Chowk, Karachi.” Source: Ismaili Shia massacre in Karachi: Banned Deobandi terror outfit ASWJ, backed by JUI-F, threatens Rangers and Police to stop action against the terrorists

Why is Arif Jamal hiding the fact that Saad Aziz Deobandi – one of the chief perpetrators of the attack on Ismaili Shias openly showed his sympathy with ISIS-affiliated Deobandi terrorist group, ASWJ-LeJ. Saad Aziz Deobandi even used to translate the hate speeches of Haq Nawaz Jhangvi!

Takfiri Deobandi groups have been at the forefront of local terrorism as well as the leadership of the Taliban in Afghanistan. Jamia Haqqania and Jamia Binoria – from which much of the Taliban leadership is derived –  are Deobandi madrasses.  Refer to this study that highlights that over 90% of terrorism is by Deobandi terrorists groups.

The sectarian breakdown of the arrested terrorists revealed that more than 90 per cent were of the Deobandi sect. An ethnic breakdown revealed that 35 per cent arrested terrorists were Pashtuns who in fact make up only 15 per cent of Pakistan’s population. Source: An incurable disease?
