Pakistan’s industrial sector is extremely weak. Not many factories are productive and successful in Pakistan except one. Perhaps we are on the top in manufacturing test-tube politicians, religious ‘scholars’ and media personalities.

‘Wise minds’ of Rawalpindi believe that immature Pakistanis require political mentoring thus sister factories in Rawalpindi and Islamabad have been producing one after another failed ‘leaders and opinion makers’.

From General Zia-ul-Haq’s spiritual son, Nawaz Sharif, to Ferzend-i-Rawalpindi, Sheikh Rasheed and from Alama Tahir-ul-Qadri to revolutionary Imran Khan, the Factories have produced a line of ‘leaders. However, each product came to the market with one or another kind of manufacturing fault. Consequently, either the Pakistani people rejected the dummies, or the manufactured leaders hurt Pakistan.

The ‘wise minds’ also believe that they own Pakistan therefore they rule Pakistan sometimes directly at others through puppets and proxies.

The business continues but accidents do happen, for example, the odd transformation of remote controlled Nawaz Sharif, the spiritual son of General Zia-ul-Haq. Every time he was made prime minister through special arrangements, Nawaz’s behaved in weird ways. Like the Taliban, another product of the Factories, Nawaz, too, gets out of control. Reconditioned Nawaz Sharif is a threat—a real one!

And Nawaz Sharif is not alone. The opening batsman of General Zia-ul-Haq team, Raja Zafar-ul-Haq has surprised his masters. And look at Chaudhry Nasir Ali Khan, another favorite of General Zia, isn’t he a double-faced man now?

Nevertheless, it is comforting that despite Nawaz Sharif’s betrayal other test-tube politicians are performing tasks assigned to them. Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Pervez Elahi, Sheikh Rasheed of Rawalpindi, Jahangir Tareen, Shah Mehmmod Quershi and other defenders of General Zia-ul-Haq are performing at factory fitted dancing tunes.

Though the MQM and Jammat-e-Islami misbehave sometimes, but after little overhauling they get back on the track.

However, newly launched Imran Khan and Tahir-ul-Qadri have been huge disappointments. They both have damaged their producers’ credibility. Tahir-ul-Qadri has been withdrawn from the market. Imran Khan is still in the field but he is an unguided missile now. He may hit the target but it would be a nightmare if he turned around and hit his launchers.

Nonetheless, the manufacturers should be satisfied that Mulana Tariq Jameel, Aamer Liaqat Hussain, Zaid Hamid, Haroon Rasheed and Dr. Shahid Masood along with many other enemies of wisdom and intellect are doing what they ought to do—educating impaired Pakistanis.
