Judicial bureaucracy or plan to murder? Despite terrorist attack by ASWJ-Taliban, no bulletproof car for Justice Maqbool Baqar!

A few weeks ago, Takfiri terrorists of Sipah Sahaba Taliban (operating as ASWJ-LeJ-TTP), attacked a brave, honest and upright judge of Sindh High Court, Justice Maqbool Baqar, in Karachi, which resulted in the deaths of at least 12 people, including his driver and security men. An improvised explosive device (IED), weighing around seven kilograms, hidden in a motorcycle, exploded as Justice Baqar’s car and his security vehicles were passing through Burns Road near Jamia Masjid Hanfia at around 8:25am, investigators said.

Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) aka Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) which is currently freely operating as Deobandi militant group Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) claimed to have carried out the attack on the judge. The TTP spokesman Ihsanullah Ihsan Deobandi claimed responsibility for both attacks. “We claim responsibility for the attack on the judge because he used to give verdicts against Islam and Muslims,” the TTP spokesman told AFP from an undisclosed location. He said the judge was also part of the “secular system” and the attack was completely in line with the Taliban policy to target all those who are part of the system.

The blast destroyed the judge’s car and damaged two police vehicles and several nearby buildings, including the mosque and several shops, witnesses said. Eight policemen, two paramilitary Rangers and the driver of Justice Baqar’s car, who were critically wounded in the bombing, succumbed to their injuries in hospital. Doctors said that Justice Baqar sustained injuries to his jaw, right hand and ankle, but remains stable after surgery.

Despite very serious threats to his life and the recent bomb attack that killed at least 12 people including Justice Baqar’s driver and security guards, Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry of Supreme Court and Justice Mushir Alam of Sindh High Court are reluctant to provide bullet proof car to him and other anti-Taliban (Sunni, Shia, Christian) judges.

The message is clear. Only pro-Taliban and pro-establishment judges have the right to life. If one happens to be an upright judge who is known for taking tough stance against terrorists who are enemies of humanity and enemies of Pakistan, one does not deserve to live.

How can we expect honest judges to dispense justice under real threat from Taliban when the State and the bureaucracy are reluctant to protect them?

This should be looked at that when they couldn’t get rid of Justice Baqar sahab, they are still finding ways of eliminating him!

The above is a link about the targeting of Justice Baqar Sahab by his judges brother in Sindh High Court and Supreme Court. The partial and incomplete report by the Jang group also shows Jang newspaper’s bias which supports killing and elimination of Shia and other anti-Taliban judges.

Another point that needs to be highlighted is that SHC Chief Justice Musheer Alam and Justice Sajjad who is heading the committee have bought top of the line land cruiser for 21 million rupees each. The Judge who is on the line of fire is not provided it, nor he is seemed worthy of a bullet proof car!
