LAHORE: Eight parties of the Barelvi school of thought have formed an alliance under the banner of Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) to wage a joint struggle against the growing Talibanisation in the country.
The alliance has demanded of the Pakistan Army to speed up its operation to eliminate the Taliban from the NWFP and the Fata, and appealed to the nation to get united against the menace.
Addressing a press conference at the Lahore Press Club on Friday, central leaders of the SIC component parties announced the launching of the “Save Pakistan Movement” all over the country to stem the menace of Talibanisation. They said all SIC parties would fully participate in the All Pakistan Ulema and Mashaikh Convention being held in Islamabad on May 17 at the invitation of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan, while the first meeting of the SIC would be held on May 18 in Rawalpindi to chalk out its future strategy.
They termed the Taliban a product of global anti-Islam conspiracies, adding that it was the
reason the Taliban were playing in the hands of Washington to divide the Muslims and bring a bad name to Islam. They said the Taliban belonged to the same school of thought that was opposed to the creation of Pakistan and they destroyed 10 shrines of holy saints in the NWFP besides killing hundreds of Sunni leaders so far.
The press conference was addressed by Pir Afzal Qadri (Aalmi Tanzim Ahle Sunnat), Qari Zawwar Bahadur (JUP), Dr Ashraf Asif Jalali (Markazi Jamaat Ahle Sunnat), Shadab Raza Qadri (Sunni Tehrik), Mufti Mohammad Khan Qadri (Karawan-e-Islam), Sahibzada Ghulam Murtaza Shazi (Markazi JUP), Mian Khalid Habib Elahi advocate (Nizam-e-Mustafa Party) and Safdar Shah (Jamaat Ahle Sunnat).
The SIC leaders said Sunni Muftis would soon issue religious edicts (Fatwas) against the anti-Islamic practices of the Taliban, and asked the nation to publicly disown the Taliban. The SIC leaders demanded immediate halt to the military operation in Balochistan and ensure administrative rights to the province according to the 1973 Constitution. They asked the political leaders to undertake visits to Balochistan to express solidarity with the Baloch people and announced that a delegation of Ulema and Mashaikh would soon visit Balochistan.
They also demanded an immediate end to US drone attacks and withdrawal of the US army from Afghanistan and Iraq. They said the SIC would provide immediate relief, including food, clothes, shelter and other basic needs, to those who have become homeless as a result of the military operation in Swat. (The News)

Is there an Ahle Sunnat option?
Lahore was witness on Wednesday to an APC of around 20 organisations of the Ahle Sunnat “sect” convened to launch a countrywide movement against Talibanisation and US drone attacks in northern parts of the country. The rubric chosen for the APC was “Save Pakistan” by opposing the Taliban and countering US interference and stopping the conspiracy of separatism in Balochistan. The intent of the clergy that gathered under the Barelvi flag is pious if it is not “facilitated” by an intelligence agency. If it is, there will be dangers ahead.
The Barelvi school of thought is no doubt the dominant jurisprudence (fiqh) in Pakistan but it is not as well politically organised as the Deobandi school. Standing in the middle — and not present at the APC — is the Jama’at-e Islami whose leader, the charismatic Maulana Maududi, eclipsed all religious leaders after Partition with his learning while his party copiously absorbed people of the Barelvi faith. The Deobandis are organised under two JUI parties and half a dozen highly organised jihadi militias. Barelvis have only the Jamiat-e Ulema-e Pakistan (JUP) and Sunni Tehreek, both based in Karachi. The other 18 are all small fry.
The APC has demanded the arrest of Sufi Muhammad of TNSM in Swat and has vowed to hold meetings and do other media campaigns to get the Deobandi Taliban to back off from their militancy and get the US to stop using drones in the tribal areas. Both prospects look unpromising. The Barelvis will never get funding from Al Qaeda and from the Arabs in the Gulf and will remain outgunned in a region where intimidation reigns supreme and the media supports the hard “exportable” Islam that the Taliban propagate.
If it comes to counter-action, the violence of the Taliban has to be opposed by the “monopoly of violence” of the state under the Constitution. The Barelvis are a useful “background noise” that the state would need as it goes out to fight the Taliban. For the Barelvis, the dividend is more popular attraction because the people have become disgusted by the Taliban’s behaviour in Swat. (Daily Times)

When Rafi Usmani ,Mufti Naim and other deoband leaders stop supporting Taliban ? if they keep supporting these elements then Brelvis should file FIR against them .
Pakistan Army or ISIS belong to which sect ? is Pakistan intelligence and ARmy is Wwahabi or Deoband Army ? if not then we need to stop Hameed gul and oher generals to support Taliban .

Sunni Tehreek, is violant and involved in extortions and bhatta collecting in the same way as other organizations in Karachi are, it has MQM as the main rival, when it comes to electoral politics, how can they keep theirselves peaceful.
They are still confused about terrorism and violance as the FATWA issued by them was against the suicide attack in Pakistan only. They will issue a comprehenssive FATWA against terrorism of all kinds irrespective of borders and territories.

Its the Organized religion, which has the genesis of violance in it, any sect which will organize at an extent will choose the path of violance for their agenda.
All the Pakistani sects whether Sunni(Deobandi, Barelvi), Shias, Ahmedis and Salafis have no difference of opinion regarding the implementary part of Sharia, punishments, blasphemy and apostacy.

Better get your facts right, first the article is about Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), an alliance of parties of the Barelvi school of thought who are opposed to Talibanisation, and Radicalization.
Second; regarding Sunni Tehrik, let me inform you it was formed in 1992 by Saleem Qadri in Karachi. It was organized by a breakaway group from MQM. It was one of multiple responses to Zia and Saudi sponsored Islamisation(Deobandisation of Islam) drive.
The drive with fake jihadi slogans, resulted in militization/weaponisation of deaobandi madaris and mullas all over Pakistan, Deobandi take over of majority of Mosques, position of Khateebs and imams at Auqaf Mosques, (there is a district khateeb and at least one Auqaf mosque in every district), promotion of Deobandi and Ahl-e-Hadith orthodoxy, spread of jihadi hate literature, such literature and orthodox values were also included in formal education thus creating mass sectarian consciousness. The state sponsored promotion of deobandi orthodoxy alienated the Barelivis(e.g Zia’s reconstitution of Islamic Ideology Council by including conservatives like Yousuf Binori, resulted in resignation from Barelvi and Shia memebers)
Third; Can you please identify where the post refers to Sunni Tehreek being a peaceful organization. I think you jump on conclusions without reading the article, as it calls formation of SIC Sunni Ittehad Council an initiative of Peaceful Barelvis against Taliban criminals. Fourth; Regarding ST’s militant credentials it is no where near to the formidable SSP & LJ. It can only be termed as a defense mechanism to ever increasing Deobandi hegemony. They are no match to SSP, LJ, JeM or even JI. The only murders attributed to ST are of Binori Town pro-taliban jihadists like Yousuf Binori. Whereas ST has lost a big number of its office bearers including its founder Salim Qadri, Abbas Qadri, Akram Qadri and Dr. Qadeer to Taliban Inc. If one compares the deeds of SSP & LJ with ST, they are only minions. Though the post never call ST a peaceful org but i may dare so viz a viz SSP & LJ
Fifth; You are right to point out that Mr Sarwat Ijaz Qadri is not a scholar, and how the LUBP can compare him with the learned ulema,muhaddesin and saints like Akram Lahori, Riaz Basra, and Ilyas Kashmiri. This certainly merits an objection!

As salaamu alaikum,
May Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala grant peace and security, for the sake of His Beloved and Elect One sallallahu alyhi wa sallam, to all good and well-meaning people of this planet regardless of which race or religion they belong to. Truly, seeking peace among all humans is the blessed way of our Beloved Prophet and all sincere, pious Muslims have striven throughout history to make peace wherever they were. This is sadly a fact totally forgotten by many of us and disputed heavily by those who are ignorant.
The Holy Quran forbids fitna unconditionally and it is only Ahl as-Sunnah who have happily incurred great trials and difficulties to avoid fitna. There is absolutely no place in the Manhaj an-Nubuwwah for terrorism and killing of innocents. In fact, highwaymen faced capital punishment in Muslim lands even if in their raiding and pillaging no one was killed. Their crime was terrorism, which cannot be allowed under any circumstances.
The gift of faith comes wrapped in worldly tribulations and tests. The worst aspect of non-traditional versions of Islam (Wahhabi, Salafi, and even secular) is that they want paradise (either in the hereafter or in this world) without bearing difficulties for the love of Allah and His Prophet. No doubt, these non-traditional Muslims do suffer but it is for all the wrong reasons and in the end, what’s the benefit of it? Suffering is unavoidable, so why not straighten your qibla and choose the kind of suffering that will make all humanity love Sayyidina Muhammad?
Only the most hopeless soul would not want to rush to the love of the Mercy to All Worlds. It is our obligation (fard ‘ayn) as Muslims to show the best possible face of the Holy Prophet to the world. Only Ahl as-Sunnah are equipped to do this.
Astaghfirullah, all of Prophet’s faces are most holy and perfect. What I meant to say was that it is incumbent upon us to show to the world that sees us as ambassadors of the Prophet our best possible conduct so that they clearly see the magnificent, captivating beauty of Fakhr al-Kainaat sallallahu alyhi wa sallam.
And now, a word about Pakistan. Unless and until Pakistanis recognize two fundamental truths about their country it will not become a better place.
First, Pakistan and the whole partition of Hindustan was a mistake, period. Saying so will not un-create Pakistan, but not saying so will perpetuate the illusion that Pakistan has somehow been good for its people. Once this illusion is shattered Pakistanis can begin to ask how they were duped and then the spell of ignorance will begin to break, insha’Allah.
Second, Pakistan is not a nation but an idea and that idea is evil. “Pakistan ka matlab kya: la ilaha il-Allah” was a mere slogan Indian Muslims accepted too hastily, unintentionally backing a modernist movement that wanted to invent a new Islam. This movement needed a concrete political reality to gain legitimacy and thus was the idea of Pakistan born.
Allama Iqbal, though sincere, was misguided in his prognosis and heavily influenced by western, specifically German, philosophy. Iqbal forgot the immortal lesson of the Sunnah to not panic in trying circumstances but to patiently inspect your surroundings and move in the direction illuminated with Divine light.
Most Pakistanis will reflexively and angrily reject these arguments. But the weak and poor in Pakistan are as helpless and oppressed as those in India and Bangladesh. Pakistani popular culture is far worse in its decadence for no Indian ever claimed that his country was created to please the Almighty. And the Pakistani state, perennially divided between militant secularism and militant Islamism, proudly carries on policies that could not even remotely be termed “Islamic”. What was the point of the entire exercise, then? Of the loss of millions of lives? Of the uprooting of millions of so-called muhajirs, still unsure about their place and identity? Of the totally un-Islamic highlighting of ethnic differences of Punjabi, Pashtun, Sindhi, and Baloch? Of the disgusting begging bowl spread in front of the world’s nations remarkably coupled with an arrogant nationalism that is not tempered with shame?
Pakistanis must once and for all reject the modernist movement that created their country, whatever name it masks itself in nowadays. They must simply be Muslims or Hindus or Christians or even secularists if that’s what they like. If they like Islam enough, they should try to live as Muslims in their private and public lives in ways that do not declare war on the magnificent Islamic heritage spanning 15 centuries and countless cultures around the world. But they should not think for a moment that the trauma of the partition has been good for Indian Muslims, who are now firmly divided into three artificial nationalities and suffer injustice, oppression, and increasing closeness to faithless and fruitless lives.
