Jundallah terrorists, affiliates of BLA and LeJ, attack a Shiite mosque in Iran

A suicide bomber escaping from the security forces detonated his explosives near a Shia Muslims’ mosque in southeastern Iran on Friday (21 October 2012), killing two people and injuring five others. The report said there are three children and one police among the injured.

The terrorists, suspected to be a member of Jundullah (a Takfiri Deobandi group allied with Pakistani terrorist groups Lashkar-e-Jhangvi LeJ-ASWJ and Baloch Liberation Army BLA) tried to enter the Imam Hossein mosque in Chabahar port as people gathered for Friday congregation, but was stopped by the security guards. The bomber set off his explosive belt a few hundred meters (yards) outside the mosque, killing two security personals and wounding several others.

Speaking to reporters, a representative from Chabahar in the Iranian parliament, Yaqoub Jedgal blamed the explosion on ‘remnants of terrorist groups’.

Chabahar is in Sistan-Baluchistan province, near the border with Pakistan. In a similar attack by two Jundullah-LeJ suicide bombers targetting a religious ceremony at the same mosque in 2010, 39 people, including women and children were killed. The terrorist group Jundollah claimed responsibility for that attack.

Jandollah’s insurgency in the southeast suffered a significant setback in 2010, when Iranian authorities arrested and later executed the group’s leader, Abdulmalik Rigi. Rigi’s execution was mourned by some Baloch nationalist groups in Pakistan, who are infested with anti-Shia Takfiri terrorists.

Chabahar Governor General Iraj Heydari said, “A wicked terrorist had intended to carry out a suicide attack during Friday prayers,” adding, “The terrorist was identified by basijis and policemen and was chased and shot outside the area of the security cordon of the policemen while escaping, and this caused his explosive belt to detonate, and he was killed.” On December 15, 2010, a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device outside a mosque in Chabahar during a Shia religious ceremony, killing 35 people and injuring more than 100 others. Women and children were among the victims. The terrorist group Jundullah claimed responsibility for the bombing, saying it was retaliation for the execution of the group’s leader, Abdolmalek Rigi, who was hanged in June 2010. (Source)

A terrorist group which introduced itself as ‘Iran Ansar Movement’ claimed responsibility for the Friday attack in Iran’s Southeastern port city of Chabahar. In the past, LeJ, Taliban, ASWJ, Jundullah terrorists have used various vague names to attack Shiite and Sunni Sufi (Barelvi) Muslims. (Source)
