Blaming the victim: Ejaz Haider blames Shias of Abbas Town for mistreatment of Ahmadis – by Sabah Hasan

Ejaz Haider

Contrary to reported facts and credible sources, Ejaz Haider comes up with insensitive gossip to make the Shia victims of the Abbas Town Karachi tragedy look bad – by alleging them of discrimination against Ahmadiyya Muslims. As per newspaper reports and as per information from credible Shia activists, the Shia volunteers not only did NOT discriminate against non-Shia victims, they went out of their way in fostering intra-sectarian harmony. Recently when Christian community was attacked in Badami Bagh Lahore, the extremely popular Shia Killing Media group as well as several prominent Shia clerics came out with strong support for their Christian brothers and sisters.

Ejaz Haider’s tactics are typically dishonest. He had done this before when he collectively blamed the Shias for Quetta for their own genocide.

This is Pakistani establishment’s old tactic to create divisions and distrust between the oppressed and target killed communities suffering at the hands of Deobandi Jihado-sectarian militants.

Previously I saw Marvi Sirmed (in Daily Times) and some other pro-establishment fake liberals who were blaming Shias for apostatizing of and violence against Ahmadis. Now Marvi Sirmed’s best friend Ejaz Haider (in Express Tribune) is alleging that Shias of Karachi mistreated with the Ahmadi victim of the Abbas Town blast in Karachi. Nothing but a blatant lie against the Shia community which was the main target of Deobandi militants attack on the Abbas Town, Karachi. In contrast, I have seen reports and pictures that the Shia Muslims welfare organization Jafaria Disaster Cell (JDC) provided support not only to Shias but also to Sunni and Ahmadi victims of the blast. Their offer of one year house rent (free of any charges) to affectees of all faiths/sects was publicly announced on Dawn News etc.

The most important point is that in his current article in Express Tribune, Ejaz Haider has lied and that lie has been contradicted by newspaper reports and the Shia charitable organisation JDC’s public announcement to the media as well as the Shia Killing Media’s bold support for Christians of Lahore’s Joseph Colony.

In their blaming the victim tactics, Ejaz Haider and Marvi Sirmed are no differeent from other pupils of the Dar ul Uloom Sethia – currently active in pro-establishment outlet The Friday Times and think-tank The Jinnah Institute. These fake champions of liberalism and human rights are more dangerous than the more transparent rightwing thugs such as Ludhianvi, Orya Maqbool Jan, Hamid Mir etc.

In a previous post, LUBP has exposed the blaming the Shia tactic of the fake liberal mafia. We wrote:

the role Shias played against Ahmadi Muslims appears to be overstated and exaggerated. Token participation and appropriation of Shias can also be found in General Zia’s Shura and federal cabinet. Does that mean Shias as a community also played a dirty role in the creation of Sipah-e-Sahaba and anti-Shia Jihadist regime? https://lubpak.com/archives/73587

http://pakistanblogzine.wordpress.com/2012/03/06/debate-on-shia-role-in-ahmadi-persecution-by-ali-abbas-taj/

It seems to me that the pro-establishment fake liberals are tirelessly working to find ways to find blame with the victim. Yet they never name the Takfiri Deobandi terrorists of Sipah Sahaba ASWJ/LEJ  Taliban who loudly claim the oppression of Sunni Barelvi, Shia, Ahmadis, Christians, Hindus and anyone else that might disagree with them.

Further it maybe also noted that the Takfiri Deobandi terrorists never make any threats towards the beer drinking, dance partying urban elites that pretentiously claim the “liberal” mantle.

Along these lines is the latest baseless attempt by Ejaz Haider (former director of the Jinnah Institute) to confuse the the discourse and deflect attention from the ISI-sponsored Deobandi militants:

Where did the mob in Lahore come from? Who is attacking shrines and imambargahs, if not the pious awam? Reports from Karachi talked about an Ahmadi having died in the bomb attack and rescue workers refusing to pick up his body. Now I am assuming that the rescue workers could not have known that one body belonged to an Ahmadi. And if my assumption is correct, based on what a reporter friend said to me, then the local people must have told them so. And if that is correct, and if the mohalla largely belonged to the Shia, then it won’t be wrong to assume that someone from the Shia community identified the person. Or, worse, both the local Shia and Sunni did. http://tribune.com.pk/story/519704/the-mytilenian-debate-and-us/

Did you notice that Ejaz Haider cites an unknown friend to blame the victim, i.e., Shia community? There should be no benefit of doubt given to Ejaz Haider, he has a demonstrated a pattern of such misleading behavior and professional dishonesty. Shaheed Shabaz Bhatti paid with his life by openly holding takfiri deobandi terrorists Sipah Sahaba (ASWJ/LEJ/TTP) responsible for the Gojra massacre.

Ejaz Haider is no fool. He wrote what prima facie appears to be an ‘investigative’ op-ed piece, but sticking to his basic charge against Tharoor that perception formation is important, he has broad-brushed the Shiite Hazara people, literally as Iran’s fifth column in Pakistan. http://www.outlookindia.com/article.aspx?277951

Sabah Hassan:

EJAZ HAIDER STRIKES AGAIN!

I just received this from a young man whose identity I shall not reveal (He has already written to The Express Tribune in this regard) :

An article was authored by Mr. Ejaz Haider and published on your website on 12th March 2013 titled: “The Mytilenian Debate and Us”

One of the paragraphs in the article is as follows:

QUOTE
Reports from Karachi talked about an Ahmadi having died in the bomb attack and rescue workers refusing to pick up his body. Now I am assuming that the rescue workers could not have known that one body belonged to an Ahmadi. And if my assumption is correct, based on what a reporter friend said to me, then the local people must have told them so. And if that is correct, and if the mohalla largely belonged to the Shia, then it won’t be wrong to assume that someone from the Shia community identified the person. Or, worse, both the local Shia and Sunni did.
UNQUOTE

I have visited Abbas Town a couple of times since the tragedy struck and have had the honour of speaking to some of the Sunni and Shia victims. Anyone from the area can confirm that the rescue work was largely conducted by Shia Scouts and Edhi and Chipa Volunteers using torches and their mobile phones as there was a total blackout after the PMTs caught fire, less than 10 minutes after the first blast.

Let us be pragmatic. How could the scouts or the Edhi and Chipa personnel know the identity of the victims let alone recognize the sect from looking at the dismembered and mutilated bodies and that even in minimum light.

Yes, some neighbours also helped in the work in the darkness of the night but they were not even in their senses when they were collecting limbs of their neighbours.

It is a shame that a seasoned journalist like Ejaz Haider has written such a paragraph. This gives a very negative picture of the community as a whole and that also based on misinformation.

Being a volunteer / scout for about 8-years and being a trained & a certified rescue volunteer I can assure you that these volunteers and scouts are trained to help the injured and not trained to identify the religious inclination of the injured or the dead during their work which is already emotionally stressful in most cases.

Please read below for further clarification.

Comments:

Sadia Salam : Problem with not just Ejaz Haider but with almost all our journalists/anchors is that they write and say anything they want as far as it sells and what u ask them about the source, they try to hide them selves up under the cover of professional ethics and confidentiality.

Syed Riaz Al-Malik Hajjaji : Sabah Hasan shame on you for using logic, rationale and valid arguements to refute Great European Liberal and Pride of the Oppressed Pious Patriotic Puttar Fauj. Ejaz Haider is truly Pride Of Oppressed Pious Patriotic Puttar (POOPPP) and we must all stand by him and against LUBP liberal fascists. I am sick and tired of first Nishapuri and now Ali Abbas Taj giving voice to diverse voices including Sabah Hasan. This is too much. Why can’t LUBP become Good Liberals like Friends of POOPPP who believe in the values of Ghairat and in suppressing any dissenting voices. Suppressing a dissenting voice is the way of Good Liberal Friends of POOPPP and LUBP must learn to respect and shut up. Ok

Next you will be quoting the fact that some Jafaria organization even gave free apartment to Ahmadi which reported in the News. Shame on you for using facts to discredit POOPPP.

Now you shameless, fact-driven LUBP liberal fascists (thanks to Beena Sarwar for providing this name for LUBP wallas) will quote this fact to counter great POOPPP comrade and European Liberal Ejaz Haider
“Forty-three-year-old Mubashir is one of the victims of the bomb blast in Abbas Town March 3. He was not a Shia or Sunni. He was an Ahmadi – the only victim from the community.

Next thing you know, you facts-driven LUBP Liberal Fascists (thanks to Beena Sarwar for using that term to define LUBP) will be sharing this fact to counter great POOPPP comrade and European Liberal Puttar Ejaz Haider
“A father of two, Mubashir left his home, which is some 10-minute walk away from the entrance of Abbas town where the bomb exploded.

The Abbas Town attack that killed at least 50 people and injured over a 100 has brought the neighbours close like never before – irrespective of their ethnic, religious or sectarian affiliations.

One organisation that may have played a role in bringing them together is the Jafaria Disaster Management Cell (JDC).

“I think it’s the JDC boys who have put the poster up there,” said Ilyas, the victim’s brother-in-law. “I am not sure. But the neighbourhood has been generally very supportive after the tragedy.”

The JDC was established by a number of young students in late 2009. It set up its camp at the Abbas Town on the day of the attack and has been working relentlessly.”

My Good Liberal comrades have worked so hard to create a wedge between Qadian and Rafzi and you have to come along and spoil it with facts you shameless LUBP truth mongering fascists

Huma Hasan : Many Pakistani journalists are receiving good money from their Masters to write anything which helps keep the society disunited! The Ejaz Haider article is a sample of that!
