MINGORA: Two more members of a pro-government village defense committee were shot dead and three others including a woman were wounded by unknown gunmen in a series of target-killing incidents in Swat district on Monday.

Sources said the slain persons identified as Bahr-i-Karam and Aqil Shah were sitting outside a shop in Koza Bandai area along with others when unknown assailants opened fire on them. Both were killed on the spot while three others, a woman among them sustained injuries in the incident. The wounded included Bahramand and Shamsul Huda while the identity of the woman could not be ascertained, the sources added. The injured were rushed to Saidu Group of Hospitals in Mingora.

Target killing spree that continued in the district for the last few weeks has claimed the lives of several persons including former nazim of Gulibagh, Sajjad Khan. People in Swat have expressed strong reservations over the role of the security forces and the police in the area. They said more than 6,000 new recruitment was made in the district police yet they have failed to control the crime in the area. They wondered how the killers committed crimes and disappeared in the presence of security forces and police in the district.(Amn Tehreek FB message)
