کراچی میں پاکستان پیپلز پارٹی کے تینتالیسواں یومِ تاسیس کے جلسہ عام سے ایوان صدر اسلام آباد سے بذریعہ سیٹلائیٹ خطاب کرتے ہوئے صدر آصف علی زرداری نےکہا کہ پارلیمنٹ اور اپوزیشن بالغ ہوچکی ہے، اس لیے اپوزیشن اور نہ ہی اسٹیبلمشنٹ چاہتی ہے کہ یہ جمہوری نظام پٹڑی سے اترے۔ صدر زرداری نے کہا ’صرف سیاسی اداکاروں کی یہ خواہش ہے۔‘
انہوں نے کہا کہ سندھ نے پاکستان بنایا اور پیپلز پارٹی نے آج تک اسے قائم و دائم رکھا ہے اور آئندہ بھی رکھیں گے۔’چند لوگ یہ سمجھتے ہیں کہ اداکاری کرکے ان سے ان کا حق چھین لیں گے۔‘
صدر زرداری نے پاکستان کے ایک بڑے میڈیا گروپ کا نام لیے بغیر کہا کہ ایک چینل کی اجارہ داری قائم ہوگئی ہے ’وہ اپنا ریٹ لینا چاہتے ہیں مگر ہم اس کے ریٹ دیئے بغیر یہاں پہنچے تھے، ان کے ریٹ دیئے بغیر یہاں بیٹھے ہیں اور ان کا ریٹ دیئے بغیر آنے والے انتخابات میں کامیاب ہوں گے ۔‘
Pakistani People’s response to blackmailing by Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman and his slaves at Geo TV / Jang Group
The informed and politically aware people of Pakistan will not succumb to the blackmailing of Geo TV / Jang Group (Jang / The News).
This is our message to Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman and his anti-democracy propaganda team, namely Dr Shahid Masood (President of Pakistani Taliban Union of Journalists), Ansar Abbsi (Taliban agent), Shaheen Sehbai (the Zionist mouthpiece against ISI, the USA passport holder), Muhammad Saleh Zaafir (Taliban apologist) and others.
DO NOT act as pawns of the establishment in trying to derail democracy. Do not weaken the already fragile institution of constitutional government in Pakistan.
DO NOT defame politicians while remaining criminally silent over corruption and mismanagement by the holy cows of the military and civil establishment in Pakistan.
DO NOT exploit the innocent people of Pakistan by creating an artificial Islam versus USA hype. Don’t defame the war on terror; don’t eulogize Taliban butchers.
If Geo TV, Jang and The News do not refrain from yellow journalism, and do not refrain from hatching conspiracies against the people’s government, then we, the people of Pakistan, will be entitled to use the following legal means to express our displeasure:
- We will stop buying Jang, The News and other newspapers published by the Jang Group.
- We will stop subscribing to Geo TV and other TV channels of the Jang Group in Pakistan and abroad.
- As owners and managers of private and multinational companies, we will not seek to advertise our products and services through Geo TV, Jang, The News and other publications and outlets of the Jang Group.
- We will ask cable operators in our cities, towns and local communities to stop transmitting Geo TV to our homes and businesses.
- We will put public pressure on federal, provincial and local governments to refrain from pumping the public advertising revenue to the media outlets, newspapers and TV channels of the Jang Group.
- We will file cases in the courts of law in all the four provinces as well as in FATA, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan against the administrators and owners of Geo TV and the Jang Group for trying to subvert the legal and constitutional government of Pakistan through unconstitutional means.

As per an “Allegedly Famous Investigative GEO TV Program” Aaj Kamran Khan Kay Saath –24 th November 2009 [Video http://www.pkaffairs.com/playshow.asp?pageId=6396%5D, Mr. Kamran Khan, Senior Correspondent for GEO TV/THE NEWS INTERNATIONAL & Daily Jang, continuously insisted while discussing NRO with Wajid Shamsul Hasan [Pakistan's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom] that corruption cases registered against Asif Ali Zardari for were genuine and Senator Saifur Rehman [Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz – & Former Undeclared Adivosr to General Musharraf] really and genuinely worked hard on these cases. What a shame for The Jang Group of Newspapers which was ruthlessly persecuted by the same Senator Saifur Rehman during 1999 and more shameful is this that the same Kamran Khan and Jang Group of Newspaper had filed stories after stories against Senator Saifur Rehman's Corruption and Violation of Rules and Law regarding Press Freedom.
Former Senator Saifur Rehman [PML – Nawaz] during 1996-1997, in connivance with the then President Farooq Ahmed Khan Laghari, Kamran Khan [The News International] and Sajjad Mir [the then Editor of Daily Nawa-e-Waqt and nowadays a TV Anchor in Pakistani Private TV Channel NEWSONE AND TVONE] had a conducted detailed Media Trial of Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari [while their cases were pending in the Court of Law]. The most funny thing is that Mr Sajjad Mir played the part of TV Anchor on Pakistan Televison Network and his guest was Kamran Khan revealing the detail of Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari.

Marri slams 'anti-democratic media elements'

KARACHI – Sindh Minister for Information Department Shazia Marri has said that anti-democratic elements of media are busy to destabilise PPP-led elected government of the county.
Addressing a Press conference at the Committee Room of Sindh Assembly she also condemned the thoughts expressed by an anchorperson Dr Shahid Masood on a private TV channel, in which he raised objections over Sindhi cap of President Asif Ali Zardari.
She also blamed that Dr Shahid Masood through his views was trying to ignite the ethnic riots in the country, adding that the said anchorperson was harbouring some personal vendetta against the President Asif Ali Zardari.
She said by attacking president’s wearing traditional Ajrak or Sindhi cap, the anchorperson has infuriated public sentiments through his ‘biased’ approach.
She also termed Shahid Masood as opportunist adding that besides getting other benefits from PPP he also enjoyed his position as MD PTV.
Meanwhile, the Sindh Information Minister during her press conference also presented the Sindhi caps to the journalists as solidarity with the President. She said that PPP government had always honoured media freedom and it was committed for freedom of expression.
“However, using the mass media resources, no one should exhibit such irresponsible attitude,” she noted. PPP welcomes any suggestions from media and civil society for better governance.
Sindh Minister said that we feel proud that the first resolution for creation of Pakistan was passed by the Sindh Assembly, while PPP always worked for the strengthening and progress of country and would continue it.
i think journalist fraternity have to rise their voice against them. Its not about the freedom to criticize the goverment anymore. these people have use plattform of electronic &media to settle a personal score with President Asif ALi Zardari. which is againt the norms of journalism. i tried to remain objective in my comments but what these people are doing is not journalism seriously and if someone tries to start a debate on freedom of press then he will be deliberatly shutting his eyes and mind .

If all that was not enough Mr Ansar Abbasi [Jang Group] has declared [READ – Read the foreign newspapers and magazines, look what is coming from Paris about the submarine deal, go through the international surveys about the record-breaking corruption to adjudge the reputation of Zardari-led political dispensation. You will find that Pakistan is hurting. President Zardari may not like it but he needs to change himself if he wants to secure his presidency.
