The Talented Mr. Pakistani – by Sabir Nazar

I am really sick of people who whine and bemoan the lack of education among Pakistanis. All problems are placed at the door of poor literacy rate. It is a false analysis. I think Pakistan has the highest literacy rate in the entire world. We have the highest rate of doctors, engineers, scientists, economists, political analysts and religious scholars and their brothers and nephews in Pakistan.

Do you really doubt my contention?

Ponder this.

If ever you complain of a headache, recommended prescriptions of panadol, or whatever else,  instantly come your way. Point to any defect or problem in your house, whether aesthetic or structural, and come running scores of solutions to put your house back in order. And we complain about lack of education in Pakistan.

Pakistanis are multi dimensional. Everyone has more than two professions, one of their own and second of a doctor cum engineer cum scientist cum political observer and, off course, religious scholar.

You take a sigh of relief having completed your grocery shopping for the week and mutter ‘khuda hafiz’ to the sly vendor and the religious scholar selling fish on his side would instantly correct you with. ‘Allah Hafiz’. With such high rate of educated professionals among us, how can we fail as a country? Ask your barber about the inflation and get a degree-less Masters on the evils of IMF and World Bank. He is certainly distinguished by his scholarship on foreign powers that are out to de stabilize our country from his crew cut hairstyles.

Our mosques are not only full of religious scholars but scientists, politicians, foreign policy experts and economists. I listen to their insightful analysis on loudspeakers every Friday on foreign policy, nuclear proliferation, imperialism and the new world order with references from ChomskySamual Huntington and Maulana Rdio. What would our government do if people would not have found the ethical, economic and social solutions to our problems from these bastions of faith?

Today’s Pakistanis are truly the Renaissance men. Just like Leonardo da Vinci, who was himself a military engineer, artist, biologist, scientist and aviation expert etc etc.

The world is afraid of professionals of Pakistan and are conspiring to contain us, as that would be a final deadly blow to their crumbling, immoral, and spiritually bankrupt societies. The West is suffering from the evil of specialization and family system is dead for decades now.

One shining example of our love for science and technology is our suicide bomber. Look at their skills of using modern technology like mobiles, cars and gas calendars. Even getting plastic explosives from urea and detergents and using camera batteries as triggers is a testimony of their excellence in not only religious education but chemistry, physics and scientific inquiry. Our madrassas are centres of excellence that are producing these multi dimensional professionals in all fields for prosperous and developed society which we are a witness to.

We must keep our faith in our professionally educated people who would one day surpass these obstacles created by our enemies and rule the world as it did 1000 years ago.
