Joke of the year by Hamid Mir

did you get my joke?

In his column titled “Media kay khilaf media ka jhoot”, Pakistan’s leading journalist-cum-television anchor-cum-Taliban/Al Qaeda supporter, Hamid Mir has tried to clarify that Khaled Ahmed has wrongly translated his articles and made fun of him and his work through cartoons. I have not seen the cartoons, but according to hints given, the cartoons and translations appeared in The Friday Times (28th Jan to 3rd Feb, 2011 edition). Though I am not interested in the explanations given by Hamid Mir because he has no credibility in my eyes, it is important to tell our readers that Hamid Mir has made the joke of the year 2011. He says

Pakistan kay sahafion kee aksariat na right wing hay na left wing hay, balkay center mayn awam kay saath khari hay, woheen jahan Quaid-e-Azam aur Allama Iqbal kharay thay aur jinhon nay center mayn kharay hokay mullaon kay saath saath ghair mulki saamraj ko bhee shikast dee”.

I am no master translator however, I would like to translate the above as

“Majority of Pakistani journalists are neither right wing nor left wing but stand in the middle with the general public, just like Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal were standing and defeated the Mullas and Imperialists”.

Big words from a very funny man. You can decide how true Hamid Mir really is.
