A tribute to my Facebook friend Khurram Zaki – by Khaleel Mohammed

I see Khurram Zaki has been murdered. He was my facebook friend. What can i say? I was worried for him because of what he wrote. It is for this reason that i often stayed off his threads because, knowing how some see me, i did not want to add fuel to his intellectually explosive material. He called for knowledge, reflection, pluralism…all goals of the religion I love.

In killing him therefore, his murderers made him immortal…for even from a non-theist perspective, they have indelibly etched his name in the tablets of history: he will forever rank among those killed because they sought to make this world a better place.
From a Qur’anic perspective: Do not say of those who are killed in the path of God that they are dead; rather they are alive, but you perceive it not.

The wrongfully murdered never die…their names live on forever.
Assalamu Alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa baratuhu, mere yaar.
