Accepting an application of the National Accountability Bureau about reviving the corruption reference against Begum Bhutto and Mr Siddiqui, Judge Najmul Hassan Najam directed them to appear in the court on Dec 24.
On Friday NAB had asked for reopening the Cotecna reference in which President Asif Ali Zardari is the main accused but the court had directed it to submit an attested copy of the Supreme Court’s Dec 16 decision declaring the National Reconciliation Ordinance illegal.
After receiving the SC verdict’s copy, the accountability court reopened the case and issued notices.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Rehman A. Malik requested the accountability court to allow him to file an application to revive the bail bond in a corruption dereference disposed of under the NRO.
The reference is about import of a Honda Accord car without paying duty.
The court will decide about Mr Malik’s application filed through a former judge of the now defunct Islamabad High Court Amjad Iqbal Qureshi on Monday.
