My enemy, my friend, my neighborer; let’s celebrate Disarmament Week, 24-30 October

“The United Nations stands today at a new Ground Zero — a “ground zero” for global disarmament, no longer a place of dread but of hope. Those who stand with us share the vision of a nuclear-free world. If ever there were a time for the world’s people to demand change, to demand action beyond the cautious half measures of the past, it is now.”

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon
A New Ground Zero“,
“International Herald Tribune”, (France), 28 April 2010

Many people believe that the world would be a more peaceful place if there were few weapons. I will also like add that United Nation is successfully working from past many years to reduce the nuclear weapons all over the world. After this introduction about Disarmament, let’s move of to Disarmament week. Disarmament week was founded by United Nation in year 1978 with purpose of controlling, reducing, limiting and abolishing of weapons. This week is held every year on 24 October- 30 October. This is an important occasion to raise awareness in the public and Governments, so that we can recognize disarmament as a key in creating a peaceful and sustainable world. The purpose of celebrating this week is to educate the people that how much peaceful this world is without weapons. Another purpose behind this is to organize a event where all states are invited from all over the world and information are given to them like danger of the arms race, need of reducing weapons, how does it effects environment and increasing public understanding of the urgent task of Disarmament. In 1995, it invites the Governments and NGOs to take part in Disarmament week. It also invited the General Secretary to promote and making a good understanding between the public of Disarmament problems and aims of the week. In Disarmament week, an important focus is given to convince the nations and making understanding between them for removing the mass destruction weapons like nuclear arms. Weapons are divided here in two major categories one among them is weapons of mass destruction that are nuclear, biological and chemical weapon, another category is of general weapons or small arms. Here I also want to add that most of the time of Disarmament is spent trying on halt all nuclear weapon making. United Nation also achieves few historical achievements in this Disarmament week for both weapons of mass destruction and conventional weapons. But here, I also want to add that still there are more than 30000 to 50000 nuclear warheads which are enough to destroy our beautiful world.

Why? Because around 2,000 people die each day (750,000 each year) as a result of armed conflict and gun violence worldwide. Because children are still maimed by landmines and cluster bombs, and land is still not safe for communities to use for farming or schools. Because all humanity is threatened by the proliferation of nuclear weapons, especially if obtained by terrorists.

One of the greatest human rights violations is the crime against humanity[war]. A war brings suffering and devastation, irrespective of the cause. The fundamental rights of an individual is assaulted during a war.Torturecaptureprisoners of warslavery, etc. are all types of human rights violations due to war. Genocide is one of the biggest human rights violations. Genocides can occur due to racial enmity, religious wars, or singling out an ethnic group.

India-Pakistan Wars name given to the series of conflicts between India and Pakistan since 1947, when the Indian subcontinent was partitioned and the two countries became independent of Great Britain. The most violent outbreaks came in 1947-48, 1965, and 1971. The roots of the conflicts lie in the hostility between Hindus and Muslims and, initially, in the disposition of self-governing princely states.

Military spending in this region is the highest, with each respective government gearing towards armageddon as the years go by. There seems to be a bottomless pocket for billions spent to upgrade and maintain a costly military ready to spring into combat in an instant. It looks as if finance is never a problem for both of this once united countries. Their spending now borders on the absurd as each of them throw away bigger and bigger budget on each passing year showing to the other side its military might.

It’s a historical fact that whenever Pakistan has been ruled by its military[dictators], its relations with neighbors always deteriorate. The 1965 and 1971 wars between the two countries(Indo-Pak) occurred when Pakistan was under military rule. In fact, the 1999 Kargil incursion into Kashmir was instigated by General Musharraf without the knowledge of Pakistan’s then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who he overthrew in a bloodless coup a few months later. So, a liberal democratic Pakistan is in the best interests of all neighbor countries.
In a war between India & Pakistan, If nuclear weapons are used, It is sure that both countries will be devastated. Even a limited, regional nuclear war, such as an exchange between India and Pakistan, would cause world wide climate disruption and lead to global famine, according to papers being presented at an international conference at the Royal Society of Medicine.
So, peace  and disarmament is the only option left. On this special occasion I want to share an awesome song” Mere Dushman mere Bhai Mere Humsaye”, written by Javed Akhtar, one of the India’s topmost lyricist and writer.
Sannate ki gehri chhanv
Khaamoshi se jalte gaanv
Ye nadiyon par toote huey pul
Dharti ghaayal aur vyaakul
Ye khet gamon se jhulse huey
Ye khaali raste sehme huey
Ye maatam karta saara samaa
Ye jalte ghar ye kaala dhuaan
Ye jalte ghar ye kaala dhuaan
Hoho..
Hmmm..
Mere dushman mere bhai mere humsaaye
Mere dushman mere bhai mere humsaaye
Mujhse tujhse hum donon se ye jalte ghar kuchh kehte hain
Barbaadi ke saari manzar kuchh kehte hain
Hay..
Mere dushman mere bhai mere humsaaye
Hoho…
Hmmm..
Baarood se bojhal saari fiza
Hai maut ki dhoop hai laati hava
Zakhmon pe hai chhaayi laachaari
Dariyon mein hai khilti beemaari
Ye marte bachche haathon mein
Ye maaon ka rone raaton mein
Murda basti murda hai nagar
Chehre patthar hain dil patthar
Chehre patthar hain dil patthar
Hoho..
Hmm..
Mere dushman mere bhai mere humsaaye
Mere dushman mere bhai mere humsaaye
Mujhse tujhse hum donon sun ye patthar ghar kuchh kehte hain
Barbaadi ke saari manzar kuchh kehte hain
Hay..
Mere dushman mere bhai mere humsaaye
Hoho…
Hmmm..
Mere dushman mere bhai mere humsaaye
Chehron ke dilon ke ye patthar ye jalte ghar
Barbaadi ke saare manzar sab mere nagar sab tere nagar
Ye kehte hain
Is sarhad par pulkaarega kab tak nafrat ka ye ajgar
Kab tak nafrat ka ye agrak
Is sarhad par pulkaarega kab tak nafrat ka ye ajgar
Hum apne apne kheton mein gehoon ki jagah chaawal ki jagah
Ye bandookein kyon bote hain
Jab donon hi ki galiyon mein kuchh bhookke bachche rote hain
Kuchhbhookhe bachche rote hain
Aa khaayein kasam
Ab jung nahin hone paaye
Aa khaayein kasam
Ab jung nahin hone paaye
Aur us din ka rasta dekhein
Jab khil uththay tera bhi chaman
Jab khil uththay mera bhi chaman
Tera bhi watan mera bhi watan
Mera bhi watan tera bhi watan
Tera bhi watan mere bhi watan
Hoho..
Mere dost mere bhai mere humsaaye
Mere dost mere bhai mere humsaaye
Hoho..
Hmmm..
Aaa…
