Sarak Ka Sach: Interviews with Shia Muslims in Karachi – by Abid Beli

Abid Beli of 24/7 Online TV conducted interviews with ordinary Shia Muslims outside a Shiite mosque and Imambargah in Karachi, Pakistan. The interviews demonstrate that Shia Muslims do not consider Sunni Muslims as non-Muslims (Kafir) or lesser Muslims, and that the issue of target killings of Shias across Pakistan is not really a Sunni-Shia sectarian issue.

Shia interviewees expressed their anger and disappointment with the sitting government (federal and provincial – PPP and PML-N), Imran Khan and particularly Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry and Pakistan Army.

Shia Muslims clearly hold Saudi-sponsored Takfiri Deobandis (LeJ-ASWJ-Taliban) as their killers and differentiate them from ordinary peaceful Sunni Muslims. However, Shiite youths expressed disappointment that the overall Sunni reaction and also media’s reaction to Shia genocide is characterised of indifference and apathy.

If you don’t have much time to watch the whole programme, do listen to this Shia youth’s 2-minute message to you at 21:00:
