Anjum Aqeel’s Escape and PML-N’s media spin
PML-N’s MNA, Anjum Aqeel Khan yesterday made a dramatic escape from policy custody with due support of his PML-N workers. Though the action has been “condemned” by the PML-N leadership, but the spin given by Rana Sanaullah, Pervaiz Rasheed, Siddiqul Farooq is nothing but mind boggling. According to their statements, they have indicated that it has to be inquired, whether those who helped Anjum Aqeel escape were PML-N workers or not or they may have been “opponents” who took Anjum Aqeel away!
This is the most frivolous piece of excuse one could ever hear. May one ask the PML-N leadership that when the same people who help Anjum Aqeel win elections on a PML-N ticket and provide all necessary leg work to him, the party would not think for a second before calling such workers as PML-N workers or “Leaguee Karkunan”.
On the matter of any opponent taking Anjum Aqeel away, astonishes the listener! Which political opponent would take such a person away? Yes, the possibility that those who were defrauded by Anjum Aqeel may be the opponents but logically it seems unlikely that they would do so.
One must also question the retail media, whose cameramen and reporters chase their targets endlessly but in this case, all they showed was Anjum Aqeel’s escape, not following him or his workers.
As far as PML-N is concerned, I just want to point out to readers that one of their MNA’s has committed a fraud worth Rs. 6 billion while he and his party are not in power. Imagine what these promoters of “good governance” and “anti-corruption” would do if they ever come into power!
Anjum Aqeel is not only member of PML N invilve in land fraud Kh Islam from faisal abad Bilal Yasin, closely related to PMLN chief Mian Nawaz Sharif is leader of land mafia in lahore many members of NA from pmln and punjab ministers are leading land mafia. If i comment that PML N is a political wing of land mafia,Qabza mafia and many other mafias may not be wrong.
What is more than “most frivolous” about Anjum Aqil’s defence by Siddiqul Farooq et al is that they are arguing vehemently the case is in the court and one (media) should not pronounce judgment on their own. True, a man is honorable citizen unless proved guilty. Alas, it only applies for PML-N people but not for PPP men that are under trial and so far not a single rupee corruption has been proved. For Anjum Aqeel wait for “proof” and verdict by apex court (stay orders might do the trick as has happened in the case of Shahbaz Sharif), for PPP men, yes there are cases, proof or no proof, they are guilty – is it a comedy circus of what?
Najam Sethi certainly does not have a soft corner for PPP, but at least he gives some sane comments. He said on TV that Anjum Aqeel could never be expelled from PML-N as he is one of the financial assets of the party. He financed Nawaz Sharif’s “Long March”. It looks there was some sort of financial support from Taliban and Alqaeda which now stood disconnected after Osama Bin Laden killing. Also, rationalization of ISI secret funds due shrinkage in US Aid pipeline, not much financial options are left with PML-N. Brig. Imtiaz and (late) Khalid Khwaja were among those ISI men who were regularly recieving “gifts” from Nawaz Sharif. It would be interesting to watch if Sharif family makes inroads in the Agency through “pocket monies” or not. However at this point in time PML-N is not successful in making any relationship, therefore, they would go to any limit for having back in their folds this very important man, named Aqeel Anjum.
