Imran Khan Fan Club Gets Necessary Thrust – Welcome Dr. Adil Najam
Dr. Adil Najam has been appointed as Vice Chancellor of Lahore University of Management Sciences. We congratulate him on his appointment. His appointment will usher a new era for Imran Khan’s support base (also called grass roots) in the urban elite of Pakistan. Soon we will see an official launch of Insaf Students Federation’s launch at LUMS. Dr. Najam will be declared patron of the Imran Khan Lovers Club. We wish him the very best. He is an IT pioneer in Pakistan and his writings on blogs will bring about change in the country. Next step would be for him to be rewarded as a member of Board of Governors of Shaukat Khanam Memorial Trust.
Dr. Adil Najam appointed as the third VC of LUMS
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Adil Najam has been appointed the third Vice Chancellor of LUMS. He follows Dr. Ahmad Jan Durrani (2008-2011) and Dr. Syed Zahoor Hassan (2002-2008) who have held this office before him.
Dr. Adil Najam is a leading authority on global public policy. He holds the Frederick S. Pardee Chair for Global Public Policy at Boston University where he also serves as the Director of the Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future and is a tenured Professor of International Relations and Geography and the Environment. Earlier he served as a Professor of Negotiations and Diplomacy at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. He has also taught at the Massachusetts Institute for Technology (MIT) and the University of Massachusetts (UMass).

Dr. Najam was a lead author for the third and fourth assessments of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), work for which the IPCC was awarded the 2007 Nobel Prize along with Al Gore. In 2008 he was invited by the United Nations Secretary General to serve on the UN Committee on Development (CDP). In 2010 he was awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz by the government of Pakistan. He also serves on the Advisory Board for the 2011 Human Development report of the UNDP.

We welcome Dr. Najam’s appointment and hope that he will further strengthen the vision and goals of LUMS.
At a recent conference in the US, one of my friends asked Professor Najam about ISI’s connivance with the Taliban and Sipah Sahaba. In reply, Professor Najam held corrupt politicians, in particular Asif Zardari, responsible for all the ills facing Pakistan.

Adil Najam has never written a single post condemning Baloch genocide and Shia genocide by the ISI and its proxy organizations. Is he really a civil society blogger? Is he an honest academic.
His father is a retired brigadier from Rawalpindi, a Punjabi elite, army family, anti-PPP, pro-establishment, pro-Imran Khan. Adil Najam’s credentials make him suitable for being LUMS’s VC.
Haq Ba Haqdar Raseed
That is called qaumi ghairat. Dr. Najam leaves imperialist amreeka and joins the true and only fort of national ghairat in Pakistan…LUMS!
You have dedicated the whole post to a person who is not worth it. His blog is part of sound good, looking good image of Pakistan, how viewers and admirers of this image can be perturbed with the bullet riddled or beheadee bodies.
Samjha karo!

In one of his blog entries, he glorified Maudoodi. He also wrote a very sympathetic obituary of Mian Tufail Mohammad. Shame on LUMS for appointing this crypto-Islamofascist.
Irony of ironies: LUMS is owned by a Shia (Babar Ali), and now this university will be run by an enemy of Shias!
@Kazim,
This is exactly what we plead with our media to be balanced about the country. They only show negativity. On the matter of ATP of Adil Najam, it is a good blog with a commercial twist to it as well a major bias against the political government
He is fan of Mian Tufail too ? Mian Tufail was Punjabi Arain . He was most jahil JI ameer. He once said speaking Punjabi is a sin .
I cannot for the life of me understand why you have to be so mean and petty, and all that against someone whose core beliefs are probably not much different from your own. I have been a regular reader of his blog and I have not once read anything by him agreeing with Imran Khan’s politics and in fact never anything against Asif Ali Zardari! More than that I know that it is a blatant lie that he has ever written anything in praise of Tufail of JI, yet another lie. I have myself heard him speak so many times against ISI – and well before it recently became fashionable to do so – that I am sure accusation is also a lie. People who think that every lie is justified if the ’cause’ is right are always thugs, whether of the right or the left. Your pettiness is pitiable.
I guess it is campaigns of hate and lies like this that keep good Pakistanis from coming back to the country. We did the same thing to Dr. Abdus Salam when he returned wanting to serve his country, a few committed hate mongers spread lies and hate about him until he left back again. Maybe we do not deserve people of merit and high achievement afterall since there are so many like the writer of this post whose low self esteem and jealousy makes them bring down any Pakistani of any notable achievement. Sad to see this.
@BilawalBuddy,
Good point that you raised…are you comparing Adil Najam with Dr. Abdul Salam? Dr. Salam will be rolling in his grave!
This is now the most pathetic blog post I have ever read. How do you know what will happen in future? Are you trying to play GOD?
