“It is interesting to note that in spite of a decade-long attempt to ‘Islamise’ the team in which Akhtar’s unholy antics were severely scoffed at, it is he alone who today stands as perhaps the only noted player of the last ten years who is entirely untouched by a match-fixing scandal” Nadeem Farooq Paracha.

”A bloke’s bowling at 150kph trying to rip the fingers off your arms or probably even worse. It gets your blood going and the adrenalin pumping. You are in a fight. And to me that’s what Test cricket is all about.”
Justin Langer on the joys of facing Shoaib (January 1, 2005)
My favorite memory of Shoaib were those two amazing balls he bowled in the Asian Test Championship match in Calcutta against India. He got Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar out on successive deliveries. Clean bowled. Scorching Yorkers. Sachin couldnt even bring his bat down in time. Pakistan won the match! That was when Shoaib announced his arrival.

Humza I quite agree with you…but in this match he was at Eden Gardens. Pakistan vs India in Calcutta. Cant be any bigger
Oh yes ! “Eden Gardens- The first cricket ground” of Sub-continent. Had to wait for 140 years to witness two perfect Scorching Yorkers ! .
