Poor Umar Cheema and lonely Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan – by Sikandar Mehdi

I was away for few weeks but alot has happened since I wrote last. CJ, Media, Lawyers, Taliban almost came full circle.
Media had the field-day when they delivered the breaking news about the withdrawal of the judges reinstatement notification. The question is this “bay-gharait ” media never even repents on such hypothetical news without bringing any source. All of a sudden the analysts, intellectuals and you name who appeared on the retail media outlets (Geo TV the most prominent of them).
Some of the names I couldn’t believe talked of democracy and some retired general talked of corruption, retired former diplomats gave opinions on presidents underwear and top it all the shameless media + anchor persons kept barking and barking for twenty four hours but they couldn’t even bring a single source to the TV to corroborate the breaking news of black sheep.
I didn’t get a chance to read most of the stuff in the news papers recently neither did I had the chance to go thru the channels. I was going to wait till I get to absorb the recent events before i send any post.
But one small news item made me write this and guess what: Umar Cheema is again in the news. He reported that he was followed again by a land cruiser on his way back to his home. The land cruiser followed him for almost nine miles then Cheema Sahib took a turn for his home in some PWD housing scheme in the outskirts of Islamabad.
Previously it was reported that he lives in F-8, now he is in PWD Scheme, that was a quick move. Cheema Sahib saw that nothing came of the last incident; he again wanted to be in the headlines so new story came out. Probably Umar Cheema is not aware of the modern technology introduced to Pakistan by the name of MOBILE PHONE.
Dear Cheema Sahib, if that land cruiser was following you for nine miles did you call the Interior Minister who is holding inquiry about your last beating? Did you call your friend Chief justice who is also holding inquiry into your beating? Did you call your mentor Ansar Abbasi? Did you call the police station? Did you call any of your sources in the agencies that spooks are following you? Did you call your favorite army about the danger?
Basically you did nothing; if you did you should have mentioned in the story. Stop fooling people with your cheap stunts. You are nobody and these old tricks for publicity are not in vogue anymore.
Another column that I got through was from Dr AQ Khan, remember our father of nuclear bomb. The man who is almost in his mid eighties but his brain is giving up on him. He trashed Musharraf for trashing Nawaz Sharif but then Dr Qadeer Sahib a scientist got into the street language and started trashing even worst that what Musharraf did to Nawaz. At the end, he says he is still knocking at the door for justice. My question to Qadeer Sahib, sir, put the question to CJ remember the one you wanted so much to be back in the saddle. Public can’t provide you with the justice; it is the SC, keep knocking, there is nobody home. The only way to retrieve a response from the SC is if your petition contains the following name: Asif Zardari
Very well written Sikandar Mehdi sahab! What was funny when I read the “story” in The News (http://thenews.com.pk/25-10-2010/ethenews/e-11939.htm) was the following:
“As he got off the main highway, the suspects stopped the Land Cruiser and started staring at the vehicle till it remained in sight. Incidentally, it was also a Friday night when Cheema was abducted in the wee hours of September 4, 2010. Likewise, a black Land Cruiser was used for his abduction and for chasing him again.”
haha!!! The apparent abductors or people spooking poor Umar Cheema “started staring at the Vehicle”. Maybe the liked the “tyre’s alloy rims” or the “No fear” stickers I would suppose his car would have had.
In any case, The News is getting equal to Karachi’s infamous Evening Special 🙂
Mr. Umar Cheema is taken over by JINNS he need to vist one of his pirs for exorcisim. He is seeing things in the dark of night. I can understand that typical red tape is hampering inquiry into his beating being held by interior ministry but what about the inquiry being held at Mars by the commander i.e CJ & his wind bag cronies. That should have been finalised by now. Shame on you Umar Cheema.
And about Qadeer Khan it is funny that he wrote that he is knocking at the doors of justice. Dear Doctor keep doing it just as SIkandar Mehdi wrote include ZARDARI’s name to get quick justice otherwise just take a pill and go to sleep. It will even be quicker if media breaks the story that Zardari & Co is handing over Qadeer Khan to US. CJ will work even nights to come to the decision of your imprisionment.
Qadeer Khan you were a hero, I repeat again you were a hero but then you became a smugler. Good men end up doing some bad stuff for which they have to pay with their reputation & sometimes life. Your smugling ring definitely had many other generals but you are so chicken that you cant even name them. Shame on You Qadeer Khan
You are the same Qadeer Khan who was given prominence by ZAB but you sucked up to criminal Zia. Just like the muslim world kept quiet and sucked upto Yazeed evenafter he killed grand sonof prophet(pbuh. Yes national interest kept you frm speaking up but isnt it the same when you wrote that national interest are far important than individual interest.
GOOD LUCK QADEER KHAN. It is only that PPP gets justice.
Keep waiting in line there are many more cases with the name Zardari in it.
واقعہ اسلام آباد میں پیش آیا۔ 26/اکتوبر کو پنجاب کے صوبائی وزیر قانون اور مسلم لیگ (ن) کے رہنما رانا ثناء اللہ وفاقی دارالحکومت میں ایک جوڈیشل کمیشن کے سامنے پیش ہوئے جو دی نیوز کے خبر نگار عمر چیمہ کے اغوا اور ان پر تشدد کے واقعے کی انکوائری کررہا ہے۔ رانا ثناء اللہ نے 28/اکتوبر 1999ء اور 8/مارچ 2003ء کو اپنے ساتھ پیش آنے والے واقعات کی روشنی میں جوڈیشل کمیشن کو یہ بتایا کہ عمر چیمہ کے ساتھ زیادتی میں آئی ایس آئی کے اہلکار ملوث ہیں کیونکہ اغوا کے بعد جس قسم کا تشدد ان پر کیا گیا اسی طرح کا تشدد عمر چیمہ پر بھی کیا گیا۔ رانا ثناء اللہ سے قبل اس کمیشن کے سامنے کئی صحافی بھی اپنے شک کا اظہار آئی ایس آئی پر کرچکے ہیں۔ اس کمیشن کے سامنے صحافیوں کے بیانات کی کوئی سیاسی اہمیت نہیں لیکن رانا ثناء اللہ کا بیان ایک نئی سیاسی حقیقت کی طرف اشارہ کررہا ہے۔ رانا ثناء اللہ کا موقف ایک فرد کا نہیں بلکہ ایک جماعت کا موقف ہے کیونکہ وہ اپنے قائد نواز شریف کی مرضی و تائید سے جوڈیشل کمیشن کے سامنے پیش ہوئے۔ نواز شریف اچھی طرح جانتے ہیں کہ بظاہر فوج اور خفیہ ادارے اب سیاست میں مداخلت نہ کرنے کا دعویٰ کرتے ہیں لیکن بہت سے سیاستدان آج بھی فوج اور خفیہ اداروں کو پاکستان کی اصل سیاسی طاقت قرار دیتے ہیں اور یہ تاثر بدستور موجود ہے کہ ان خفیہ اداروں کے ساتھ محاذ آرائی کرنے والا اقتدار میں نہیں آسکتا۔ اس تاثر کے باوجود نواز شریف نے رانا ثناء اللہ کو آئی ایس آئی کے خلاف بیان دینے کے لئے اسلام آباد بھیجا۔ اس بیان کا مقصد چند افراد یا کسی ادارے کے ساتھ محاذ آرائی نہیں بلکہ اس طرز فکر کی حوصلہ شکنی ہے جو رانا ثناء اللہ اور عمر چیمہ کا سر مونڈ کر اور ان پر تشدد کرکے یہ سمجھتا ہے کہ وہ پاکستان کی خدمت کررہے ہیں۔ رانا ثناء اللہ نے جوڈیشل کمیشن کے سامنے اپنے بیان میں کہا کہ … ”ہمیں بطور قوم اتنی جرأت اور حوصلہ دکھانا ہوگا کہ ایسے افراد کو اگر سزا نہیں مل سکتی تو نہ ملے لیکن کم از کم ایسے افراد کو بے نقاب تو کیا جائے“۔ آگے چل کر انہوں نے کہا کہ ایسے افراد کو بے نقاب کردیا جائے تو پھر ہمیں کوئی اپنے لاپتہ پیاروں کی بازیابی کے لئے سڑکوں پر دھکے کھاتا نظرنہ آئے گا۔
