Pakistan’s former President Musharraf condemns Shia genocide
“I strongly sympathize with Shia families that are losing loved ones everyday on account of escalating sectarian violence. The Government cannot and must not ignore the atrocities being committed against Shia muslims in the name of religion. It was General Musharraf who killed more Takfiri Deobandi terrorists of Taliban and Sipah Sahaba than any one else.
During his tenure there were minimal attacks on Sunni Barelvis, Shias, Ahmadis and Christians.
During Kayani/Zardari duo, Takfiri Deobandi terrorists of Sipah Sahaba Taliban rule the country. Terrorists are being routinely released, not a single terrorists has been hanged or killed.
LJ (Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Deobandi militant group) is accused of killing hundreds of Shias after its emergence in the early 1990s. It was banned by then president Pervez Musharraf in 2001.

General Musharraf says intolerance is isolating Pakistan
Pakistan’s military ruler, General Pervez Musharraf, has condemned hardline Islamists and called on the people of the country to shun religious fanaticism.

He said religious intolerance was disrupting government efforts to revive the economy and harmed the country’s image abroad.
It led the world to believe Pakistan was a “terrorist and failed state,” he told a conference of senior clerics meeting to mark the birth of the Prophet Muhammad.
The BBC’s Zaffar Abbas in Islamabad says though it is not clear what has prompted the general to condemn the Islamic militants, his words will be welcomed by human rights activists.
Exporting terrorism
General Musharraf said fanaticism was destroying the social fabric of Pakistan and building a culture of violence within the country.
Violent sectarian clashes between rival Islamic groups have killed at least 80 people in Pakistan in the past five months.
But he said Pakistan had also gained a reputation for exporting terrorists and fundamentalist politics to other regions.
The general says violence is not in the teachings of Islam
“The world thinks that we are terrorists and responsible for violence around the world,” he said.
He denounced hardliners’ ambitions which he said included hoisting the flag of Islam in the Indian capital Delhi.
The general said Pakistan’s support for what he called the “Kashmiri freedom struggle” was confined to diplomatic backing.
He denounced Islamic groups for openly collecting funds in the name of jihad, or holy war, in the region and said the money often went to build up personal fortunes.
Militant Pakistani volunteers – often recruited from poor families by activists – are active in the Kashmir conflict and also fight alongside the Taleban in Afghanistan.
‘Irresponsible statements’
The general, who is a moderate Muslim, said that the politics of violence went against the teachings of Muhammad.
He called on the clerics to stop issuing “irresponsible statements” in their religious statements which call for Muslims to wage holy war against the United States and Russia.
He said if Pakistan wanted to walk in step with the comity of nations, in what was turning into a global village, it must work for tolerance and harmony.

Islamabad — The Muslim world must take action to counter sectarian strife that threatens to tear it apart, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf warned in a speech Thursday.

As his own course of “moderate enlightenment” takes him deeper into conflict with conservative forces at home, Musharraf stressed that Islam was not in conflict with democracy and modernisation, but that modernisation was distinct from Westernisation.
“We need to work for reconciliation with the world at large,” the Associated Press of Pakistan quoted him as saying at a lecture Wednesday to scholars and intellectuals in Islamabad.
“Now is the time to act immediately to resolve long-standing political disputes including Palestine, Kashmir, Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon,” he added.
There is currently no consensus about interpretations of Islam among Muslims, and illiteracy has further exacerbated the situation, with the teachings of Islam generally being left in the hands of semi-literate religious people, he said.
Extremist elements are trying to impose their rigid views on the vast majority, while fringe ultra-modern elements were propagating secularism, creating an unhealthy schism, Musharraf said.

I want the people who are on LUBP to understand that Shia genocide is a problem that must be solved. But you cannot place your trust in ”moderate” parties like ANP, MQM and PPP. This is important to understand , ZARDARI WONT HELP YOU.
The only person I see who wants to sincerely deweaponize militant groups is Imran Khan! Not these so called moderates. Only uncurropt politicians can do the job, not crooks.
