“The FBI is gonna get you”, Najam Sethi threatens a freelance columnist

Follow up on your threat, Mr. Sethi – by Adnan Gill

Dear readers,

I am a freelance columnist and political scientist with keen interest in Pakistani politics and media. On Twitter, I use the following handle: Adnan Gill @TomCat111.

A few days ago (on 18 July 2012), Najam Sethi (host of Geo TV’s Aapas Ki Baat political talk show) threatened me via Twitter. He wrote:

“The FBI is gonna get u for that hate-video. Where will you hide on West coast? Btw, all family properties anywhere are legit. Shame on you.”

I welcome his threat and offer my full cooperation with the FBI. In exchange, I invite him to show his good faith by publicly disclosing the source of funds he bought two of his (multi-million Manhattan, NY) luxury apartments with; which if I am not mistaken, amounted to more than $3 million.

Apparently, Sethi thought I made the video (on YouTube) about his New York luxury apartment. On July 18, when to a Fasi Zaka’s Tweet:

(Must say @najamsethi does an amazing programme. Excellent stuff today),

I replied,

@fasi_zaka Perhaps, that’s why he owns 2 multi-million apartments in Manhattan NY. @najamseth“,

almost immediately he posted the threat through a direct message.

“The FBI is gonna get u for that hate-video. Where will you hide on West coast? Btw, all family properties anywhere are legit. Shame on you.”

Therefore, I decided to make his threat to me public and responded with the following Tweets:

“RT 1/2 @najamsethi “The FBI is gonna get u for that hate-video. Where will you hide on West coast?”,

“RT 2/2 ” @najamsethi …Btw, all family properties anywhere are legit. Shame on you.”,

@najamsethi I welcome ur threat & up u 1. I will fully cooperate with #FBI & challenge u 2 disclose source of $3 million? @fasi_zaka“, and

@najamsethi Tell FBI they can reach me @ [email protected] 4 my contact info. B a courageous man & disclose ur source of $3 milion too”.

In addition, I tried to highlight his threat on PressPakistan (Google group),  they approved and posted my message.

I dared him few more times (through Twitter) to follow up on his threat, but never heard back from him.

Hopefully, Mr. Sethi is a man of courage, who will answer my challenge honorably.

Adnan Gill
