Facts behind ‘Suspicious degree’ of MNA Faryal Talpur- by Farhad Jarral
Yesterday I saw strange news when I turned my TV on to watch 9’o clock news bulletin; it was about the degree of President Asif Ali Zardari’s sister MNA Faryal Talpur. She got Masters Degree in Sociology from Karachi University. HEC declared her degree suspicious and resent to Karachi University to check the record again. Degree of Senator Faisal Abidi and MNA Nabil Gabol were also found suspicious.
In this regard when Faryal Talpur was contacted, she said that her degree was authentic and resending her degree to the University for Re-verification was inappropriate. She said that she had an MA degree in sociology and it was authentic and no one had contacted her in this regard. Faisal Raza Abidi also claimed that his degree was authentic. Source
A new drama has been created of degrees. I’ve heard about two types of degrees in the recent spicy topic on various TV channels and newspapers of Pakistan i.e. ‘degree scandal of politicians’ and those types were original/verified degree and fake degree. Now the third type of degree (third degree is known as torture in police or relevant dept.) had been introduced i.e. suspicious degree. What kind of degree is this? This degree is created to make deal with Government (Aik hath do Aik hath lo). Dr. Javed Laghari (HEC Chairman) wants to say, “Free my brother from all charges and the suspicious degree will be converted into original degree”?
Let me inform those who are not known to the drama of HEC Chairman’s brother who was arrested few days back because of corruption charges. Dr. Javed Laghari’s brother Farooq Laghari is bureaucrat and former DCO of Tando Muhammad Khan.
Sources in the ACE said that the anti-corruption committee-I had approved registration of cases against Farooq Leghari pertaining to a plot of land and parks in Tando Mohammad Khan district. Source

Reports on Faryal Talpur’s degree malafide: adviser
Staff Report
KARACHI: Taking notice of media reports regarding Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)’s MNA Faryal Talpur’s “suspicious” graduation degree, the Sindh government on Wednesday termed the reports malafide.
Speaking at a press conference at the Karachi Press Club, Sindh Chief Minister’s Information Adviser Jameel Soomro, CM’s Political Affairs Adviser Rashid Rabbani and CM’s Special Assistant Waqar Mehdi advised the media not to run the report without confirmation or seeking Talpur’s comments.
Condemning the report, they termed it part of a defamation move against Talpur.
“We do not want to issue a legal notice or table a condemnation resolution in the Sindh Assembly since the Punjab Assembly is already against the media,” Soomro said.
He demanded action against the Higher Education Commission (HEC) officials for providing the media with a fake report.
He said some people in the HEC were targeting the MNA, as she was President Asif Ali Zardari’s sister and an elected MNA of the PPP from Benazir Bhutto’s constituency, as well as PPP Women Wing Central President.
