Fauji Overseas Employment Services and a visiting team of Bahrain National Guards are recruiting Pakistanis. Lahore, Pakistan. 12/03/2011

Scores of young men lined up before Pearl Continental Hotel, on the Mall Road of Lahore were anxious of their turn to appear before the visiting delegation of Bahrain National Guards (BNG). These men, mix of retired armed forces personals as well as newly graduates in 20s of their age, had come across far flung areas of Punjab to apply for recruitment of Bahrain National Guards, an armed force of Bahrain which is going to stretch its duties fabric due to uprising against the Khalif regime of Bahrain.

Pakistan is all time favorite state for Bahrain to hunt police and army personnels. A large number of soldiers and police men of Pakistani origin are already serving in Bahrain, a Shia dominant country by its population but governed by sunni regime, which is scared of majority population and mostly dependent on imported police and army personnels.

These job seekers had come here, as most of them told, on lead of an advertisement of Fauji Overseas Employment Services, a manpower exporting agency which is a subsidiary of Fauji Foundation, a multi dimensional business organization of ex military men of Pakistan. The Fauji Overseas Employment Services in its latest advertisement published in widely circulated daily newspapers, has advertised seven positions from officers of major ranks to mess waiters and cooks for Bahrain National Guards. According to the criterion mentioned in advertisement, except one position of security guards, all six are reserved for persons retired from military, paramilitary or police.

Shafaqt Nazir, a young man hailed from Shakar Garh town of Punjab province had applied a few days ago for the position of security guard in Bahrain National Guard. Shafaqt Nazir who had been employed in Bahrain some years ago, told that he wanted to go there again. According to him Bahrain was a better place to earn than many gulf countries. Shafqat Nazir, a high school graduate (Matriculation) told that one of his family member based in Bahrain informed him about the recruitment for Bahrain National Guards. He thinks it an easy way to go to Bahrain and earn than paying handsome money to recruiting agents for getting a work visa for some Arab country. On the day when this scribe has a chat with Shafqat Nazir near Pearl Continental Hotel where initial tests were being conducted for recruitment of Bahrain National Gurads, he was accompanying one of his mate, another applicant for a security job in Bahrain.

While telling the story of recruitment procedure Shafqat Nazir told that in the hotel there was a long queue of applicants, most of them retired armed forces personals. First of all they take physical measurement of applicant and in ordinary manner check bones for any fracture. If things are OK then they will issue you a token and will ask you to submit your documents which include national identity card and education certificate, rest of the procedure will take about three weeks in completion and successful applicants would be declared later.

A number of applicants looking for their chances to turn up before the Bahrain National Guards recruitment team, had a little knowledge about Bahrain, and hardly a few of them had some awareness about ongoing political turmoil in that country where they were minded to join security force. On a question that what you think if you have to face only the raged crowds and massive agitations as part of your duty, most of applicant were looking nervous, but in fact these guys are more nervous of their unemployed and idle present in Pakistan than that of a insecure rather endangered future in Bahrain.
