Quetta: A spokesman for Baloch nationalist leader and the head of the Baloch Republican Party (BRP)  Nawabzada Bramdagh Bugti has termed two recent interviews published in a Lahore-based English daily as fake, fabricated and bogus.

Sher Mohammad Bugti, a spokesman for the Baloch leader, told The Baloch Hal that two interviews of Bramdagh Bugti, which were published in Daily Times were fabricated, fake and bogus as the Baloch leader had not spoken to any correspondents in the recent times. He said the interviews were “planted” from certain quarters in order to  malign the Baloch nationalist movement.

Dozens of Quetta-based Urdu newspapers have also published a formal denial of the interviews of the Baloch leader in their Sunday editions quoting the Bugti’s spokesman accusing the Daily Times of cooking up two interviews one after the other.

Ali K Chishti, the man who allegedly conducted the fake interview

Experts raised eyebrows over the authenticity of the interview when it quoted Bramdagh Bugti calling Baloch resistance forces as “Baloch terrorists”.

Bramdagh Bugti is a grand-son of  former Balochistan governor and chief minister Nawab Mohammad Akbar Khan Bugti. He is a staunch supporter of Balochistan’s independence and the ongoing armed movement.

Daily Times, which is simultaneously published from Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad, is a part of the Media Times Limited, which was founded by Salmaan Taseer, the governor of Punjab who was recently shot dead in Islamabad by his own security guard. The newspaper is edited by Rashed Rehman, a veteran of the Balochistan resistance movement of 1970s as a part of the popular London Group. The management of Daily Times has not provided a public explanation for what Bugti’s spokesman called as “fabricated interviews”. The bogus interviews were conducted by a Karachi based blogger Ali K. Chishti.
