Onetime Flood Tax – by Amir Nasiruddin Sayani
One time flood tax is a new term and a new tax. Whenever we hear the term tax usually we try to avoid, but this tax is not for life time. It is a one time affair. Whenever Government asks for tax, usually people perceive that it is being collected as an extra expense, but this time it is for a noble cause, i.e., for flood affectees.
One time tax is being imposed by the Pakistan Government to make sure that the flood affectees get any and every kind of help they need in the time of stress and despair. It is worth mentioning that more than 2 Crores peoples have been affected due to flood. As a Pakistani, we should help our flood affected brothers and sisters. What is wrong if Govt. is approving this tax, God saved us from flood so this doesn’t mean we forget those who are affected.
As we know, 2 Crores peoples have been affected out of 16 Crores peoples which means every 8th people is affected from flood, so is it not possible that 7 peoples together can help single person, it is not very hard for 7 peoples to help a single person. Onetime flood tax is 10 % tax on monthly income of salaried person which means if my monthly income is 30,000 then I have to pay 3000 to Govt. for flood affected peoples. What is wrong with it if I pay just one time 3000 rupees to my brothers and sisters who are affected from flood and as we all know how they are surviving their lives, I think by doing this we are saying thanks to God that he saved us from flood.
The thing that is most important here is that the whole process should be made transparent which would be beneficial for the flood victims, government and ofcourse the donators. It is the responsibility of Sindh Govt. to make it transparent. Some folks have reservations as to why this is being applied on salaried persons only. I totally agree with them but this is initial stage Inshallah in next phase business class will be targeted.
This is how I see and understand the onetime flood tax. Your suggestions and feedback is eagerly awaited.
There is nothing wrong in paying it, provided it helps the flood victims, and that my friend seems unlikely to happen b/c of the credibility of our Govt. B/w how much did our leaders contributed for the said cause…
i agree to you, defenately leaders have to take initiative first…..
This is high time that our leaders understand and fulfill their duties or else the end is near…
ImPakistani, Brother don’t hold your breath. These hardened criminals would never learn or change. They are at their game of lies and deceptions,24/7. No chance of them ever coming clean and return the loot to the People of Pakistan. PPP, Permanenet Plunder Party, had it’s days.
@crankthatskunk
Exactly, my point.We can be as much hopeful as we want to, but the fact of the matters is that these sh*t heads are weakening the very foundation of our homeland.So as far as im concerned, the time is now to get rid of these good for nothing.
yes. A salaried person earning 30,000 should pay an extra tax of 3000 because he is an idiot and is paying taxes regularly. We should not tax the feudals because they are poor.
i respect all comments, but think positive, negative peoples never bring change, always be optimistic…..
Untrustworthiness of government isn’t the only issue… it’s also incompetence.
If we have to give 10% anyway, then why not just give it to Edhi and other NGOs as people are already doing?
