Princess and the Playboy: Zardari and Benazir Bhutto were partners in corruption – by Najam Sethi
While Najam Sethi is known for the dark role he played with the military establishment in undermining Shaheed Benazir Bhtto’s elected government in 1996, his wife Jungu Mohsin is not far behind.
In a recent TV program (Bayad-e-Benazir Bhutto, Geo Tv, 24 Jan 2013) hosted by Raza Rumi (director of allegedly pro-establishment think tank Jinnah Institute and an employee of Najam Sethi’s The Friday Times), Jugnu Mohsin paid a backhanded tribute to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, alleging that BB confessed to her of being involved in financial corruption and that she (BB) explained to Jungu Mohsin that PPP needed the looted money to counter Nawaz Sharif’s resources in future elections.
(Summary of video: Parody of BB by Jungun Mohsin, applause by Raza Rumi at 8:50 minutes; at 15:30 Jungu boasts that Benazir used to visit her house even in her absence, then she alleges that BB justified her corruption, another parody: “I need money, my party, my people need money.” Raza Rumi uncritically supports the assertion and says “un ko bhi (corruption) karna pari”. Of course Raza Rumi did not care to ask Jungnu why her own husband became a part of ISI-conspiracy to undermine the Benazir Bhutto government: http://lubpak.com/archives/40420 At 24:00 Jungu Mohsin and Raza Rumi together ridiculte Benazir Bhutto alleging her that she refused to meet Governor Arkansas in the U.S. At 30:00, she ridicules PPP’s most loyal worker and leader Jahangir Badar because of his socio-economic background, something which Raza Rumi wholeheartedly enjoys.)
At that point, Jungu also resorted to cheap parody of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto to prove her point. At no point did Mr. Rumi care to stop Jungu Mohsin from insulting the sacred memory of Shaheed BB, which hurt feelings of millions of BB’s supporters and followers in and outside Pakistan.
The episode also resulted in some comments on Twitter, e.g. by Hamid Mir who described the parody in bad taste.
Bashir Riaz, senior writer and well wisher of PPP, wrote a detailed column in daily Jang and wondered why Raza Rumi deemed it fit to invite a fake well wisher of PPP and Benazir Bhutto to speak about Shaheed BB. Bashir Riaz also identified several lies and misstatements by Jungu Mohsin about Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
Recently a group of double dealers led by Najam Sethi and several of his pupils and employees is trying to make inroads into the PPP. Bilawal and Bakhtawar are advised to pay heed to Bashir Riaz’s advice and be mindful of such uncles and aunties (ie., fake sympathizers and well wishers of PPP).
